Color  Change  Tutorial  

 
1.  In  the  stitch  BEFORE  the  color  change  (last   4.  Continue  to  work  according  to  the  
stitch  of  the  first  color)  insert  your  hook  into   instructions,  in  the  new  color  from  now  on.  
the  stitch  and  draw  up  a  loop.    

   
2.  Yarn  over  with  the  new  color.   5.  The  next  stitch  will  be  in  the  new  color.  

   
3.  Draw  through  both  loops  on  the  hook.

To  change  colors  directly  after  an  invisible  decrease:  

 
1.  Insert  the  hook  into  the  front  loops  of  the   4.  Draw  through  both  loops  on  the  hook.

2.  Yarn  over  and  draw  up  a  loop.   5.  Continue  to  work  according  to  the

Materials  
• Worsted  weight  (size  4)  yarn  in  blue  and  green:    a  little  less  than  1  skein  each,  and  white:  
much  less  than  1  skein  
I  used:  Lion  Brand  Cotton-­‐Ease  yarn  in  Lime  and  Seaspray,  and  Vanna’s  Choice  in  White  
• Crochet  hook  size  –  E-­‐4/3.5mm    
(Or  size  needed  to  crochet  so  that  stuffing  is  not  seen  between  stitches)  
• Polyester  fiberfill  stuffing  
• Something  to  mark  the  beginning  of  each  round    
 
Gauge  
Gauge  is  not  important  for  this  pattern.  Use  whatever  size  hook  is  necessary  to  crochet  tightly  
enough  that  the  stuffing  cannot  be  seen  between  the  stitches.    
Size  
Finished  product  is  ~6  in.  in  diameter.  Thicker  yarn  and/or  a  larger  hook  will  create  a  larger  end  
product.  Thinner  yarn  and/or  smaller  hook  will  create  a  smaller  end  product.    
Difficulty—Medium  
Note:  This  project  is  rated  Medium  because  although  only  basic  stitches  are  used,  there  is  a  lot  of  
color  change  work.      
This  project  is  worked  in  the  round.  Do  not  join  at  the  end  of  each  round  or  turn  the  piece,  unless  
indicated  to  do  so  in  the  pattern.    As  you  work,  move  your  stitch  marker  up  to  the  first  stitch  of  
each  new  round.
