TORNADO® Aerators/Mixers AE

AEROMIX standard TORNADO® aerators/mixers are self aspirating aerators designed for use
in wastewater treatment plants. Thousands of TORNADO® aerators have been installed at
more than 4,500 wastewater treatment plants in more than 80 countries around the world.
AEROMIX conducts regular oxygen transfer and other performance tests in tanks, ponds, or
lagoons at AEROMIX facilities and other locations. Based on world accepted standard test
methods of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), our TORNADO® aerators, with 50
HZ motors, perform as follows:
1. Standard Models:
1.0 kg of oxygen per kW HR, motor running at 1500 RPM.
2. Models with PowerMiser™ electronic controllers.
PowerMiser™ allows a wastewater treatment operator to control aeration by the
TORNADO®. This can be done manually, by simply rotating a button on the PowerMiser, or
can be programmed to automatically adjust aeration based on time or input from up to five
instrument, including dissolved oxygen (DO) monitors, flow meters, level meters, and other
instruments. Customers can expect performance as follows:
 Increase aeration to transfer up to 1.25 kgs of oxygen per kW HR.
Increasing aeration, during periods of peak BOD, allows customers to save
energy by not running the equipment continuously at high oxygenation levels.
 Decrease aeration to 0.8 kg of oxygen per kWHR.
Reducing aeration helps customers reduce energy consumption,
if additional oxygen is not required.
 Simply shut off the motor to completely stop aeration, when oxygenation
is not required. This saves energy and extends the life of the equipment
 Start aeration and increase it slowly to the desired programmed level.
This eliminates the need for soft starters and protects the equipment.
