Good evening to all students and professors,

My name is Gabriela Velescu and it is my pleasure to be here with you and tell you my
experience working as a recruiter for the Recruits Company. Although the work here might
sometimes be tough, the experience I have gained so far is very memorable and distinct in my
life. And I am a firm believer that hard work and dedication are some of the key factors for
ensuring a successful career in every domain.

I will share with you my experience and present you the steps I took into achieving my goals. I
believe that a person needs to achieve certain goals in one's life before you can call them
successful. I have set certain goals until now, which I wanted to achieve in my lifetime. Some of
these goals were personal while others are professional. For some of them I was able to get
where I wanted, but for the others I am still working on them.

One of my goals was to be able to use the knowledges I have into something practical that I
enjoy and could help others. And this is why I joined Recruits Company. Being able to secure a
job here was not an easy thing to do. I stumbled upon the "minimum 2 years of experience"
policy, which at that time I did not have. But eventually, being prepared at the job interview and
confident in my strength, I got the job. And since then, my career journey has started.

Goals are a part of everyone's life. They can be big or small. There can be an unlimited amount
of them. Making them however you want is your choice. Everyone has their own opinions in
their goals. Ever since a young age, children have pretended to become great occupants when
they get older. They always use their imagination, when pretending to become a lawyer, doctor,
professional sports player, or an astronaut. Later, in life, these young children soon blossom to
young adults and still have their mindset on becoming great things.

I have to admit that this was not my dream job when I was a child. But it ended being something
I am very good at. It also turned into something that I am passionate about, having the possibility
to see “behind the scenes” of a process, which in many companies is not fairly used. From past
experiences, not all people are treated equally when applying for a job at a certain company. And
in some way, this is what I am now trying to attain: equal chances for everyone. Maybe what I
am doing will not change the world or maybe it is not that important. But it is to me. And when
you are pursuing a certain goal or dream, you are the one that needs to believe in it, because
only you have the power to transform your passion into amazing results.

I have set up goals for me after time, but life goals have stayed consistent ever since I realized
what life goals are. Uniquely I would call my passion for people and wanting to help them as my
“dream goal”. I know it will not be easy to accomplish these goals and that there will be many
hardships to go through.

I know that one has to jump over walls before achieving their goals, but I can tell you with
confidence that you are up for the challenge. If you are willing enough and dedicated, there are
no barriers which you can not overcome. And I say this, after I have confronted with this
negative type of thinking. If you want it badly enough, your goal can be turned into great
accomplishments.

Goals are set and met every day. Some people 's goal is to make as money as they can, while
others prefer to make as much friends as possible, and some people's goal is just to be happy.
Mine was to have the opportunity to help people, to communicate and get to know them. Still
that is not enough, people will still look at you a certain way. People will still judge you behind
closed doors. There are even people that will look down on me because my job is not this or that.
I personally do not care about what people say, as long as I know that I have a purpose and I am,
above everything, happy and content with my professional path.

During life we all set some type of goals, whether it be short term or long term. As individuals
we grow each and every day. There are people out there, just like me, who are constantly
improving themselves. To reach your goal might not be easy in the beginning. But what I advise
you is to never let someone else told you that what you want is impossible to reach. We are the
masters if our own lives. The decision is in your hands only. Now is the time that you can focus
on your development, goals and aspirations in life.
