FIRE DOORS

One of passive fire protection system in Autokeen Sdn. Bhd are the fire doors that entitled by
Law 162, 163 and 164 of the Uniform Building By Law 1984. Law 162 states that a appropriate
FRP fire doors tested accordance to section 3 of BS 476:1951 shall be provided and accordance
to specified half hour and one hour doors requirement with code of standard of BS 745 “ Animal
Glues”, BS 1204 “Synthetic resin adhesive (phenolic and amino plastic) or BS 1444 “ cold
setting casein glue for wood”. In Autokeen Sdn. Bhd. several fire doors installed between the
working space of the office and the assembly line to prevent any fire outrage from the other side
and also to withstand the fire to give time for the employee to escape. The fire doors have
adequate fire rate that can endure the fire for one and half hours.

AUTOMATIC CO2 EXTINGUSHING SYSTEM

Accordance to the Guide To Fire Protection In Malaysia, automatic CO2 extinguishing system
entitled by Law 235 in UBBL 1984 with MS 1590 : 2003 standard which state that either total
flooding system or unit protection system is equipped permanently based on the nature hazard of
the business. In Autokeen Sdn. Bhd, automatic CO2 extinguishing system is installed in order to
protect the employee from the fire hazard and also one of the way to protect the asset of the
company. This system mainly installed at office department and electrical and electronic
compartment. In order for the system to be triggered complying with MS 1404 and BS 7273,
minimum of two detector zone need to be activated and siren will be launched to discharge
employee from the area.

SMOKE DETECTOR

At Autokeen Sdn. Bhd, detecting devices such as smoke detector were used as a medium to nose
out the smoke as the indication the presence of fire before triggering other fire protection system
with the design guideline from BS 5839 : Part 5 about the specification for optical beam smoke
detector and also from Part 5 and Part 7 Malaysia Standard of MS 1176 that define the
specification for components of automatic fire detection systems and specification of the static
element system that contain point detectors of heat sensitive detectors and requirements of
scattered light, transmitted light or ionization for the Power-type Smoke detector. Mainly
installed in electrical and electronic compartment like switchboard rooms, office rooms and
canteen. This is one of the prove that Autokeen Sdn. Bhd. follow the requirement of Guide To
Fire Protection In Malaysia and UBBL 1984 by Law of 225, 237 , 244 that state detecting or
extinguishing fire alarms shall be provided, following the requirements of extinguishing alarms
and emergency lighting from the 10th Schedule and the latest edition.

HOSE REELS

At Autokeen Sdn. Bhd, hose reels are installed in order for the employee and the fire fighting
rescue team to use it at early stage and to fight with the fire. At this company, there are 10 units
of hose reels distributed at all designated place that reachable and accessible that follows with
the Guide To Fire Protection In Malaysia and 10th Schedule by Law 226(1) and 237(1) of UBLL
1984 and MS 1489 Part 1, MS 1447, MS 1488 that state Hydrant systems, foam inlets and Hose
reels, hose reels with semi-rigid hose and semi rigid hoses for permanent installation for early
stage of first aid.

PORTABLE FIRE EXTINGUISHER

Two type of portable fire extinguisher that are used in Autokeen Sdn. Bhd. which is dry chemical
powder and Carbon Dioxide CO2 types that comply with the requirements for portable fre
extinguisher of MS 1539 Part 1 about the construction and procedures, Part 3 state the selection
and application and maintenance of portable fire extinguisher for Part 4 from the code of
practice. There are 26 units of dry chemical powder installed alongside with the hose reels
system in order of ease of the user to reach and access. The dry chemical powder mainly used in
order to fight with fire of solid materials, liquids, gases and electrical equipment that based on
the presence of nature of hazard of the business. The Carbon Dioxide CO2 types are installed
mainly at the electrical and electronic compartment such as switch board rooms, office rooms
