Pihu: It’s nature. The sun, the tree, the fresh air, whether your walking, running,
or sitting – every aspect of nature is actually the greatest medicine you could ever
receives.Different studies have shown that nature truly heals. When people are in
nature or simply viewing images of nature, results have shown reduced anger,
stress, and fear. It actually increases pleasant feelings experienced.
Akshita: I do agree. It also has been shown to reduce blood pressure, heart rate,
muscle tension and so on. Scientists believe this is because we are naturally
programmed to be in nature. After all, our ancestors did spend nearly everyday of
their lives outside, living. So being in our natural environment significantly boosts
our mood and health effects – it makes sense.
Monish:Nature can even help us get over grief. We are programmed to be happy
when surrounded by the natural elements that once nourished our ancestors. So
when in nature, we can very quickly become calm and relaxed.Nature can have an
even greater effect though.
Akshita :Yes like the study scientists did on patients with gallbladder surgery. Half
the patients were given rooms with the view of nothing but a wall, and the other
half had a view of trees. According to the physician who did this study, the
patients with the natural view tolerated pain better. The nurses reported fewer
negative effects for these people who, overall, spent less time in the hospital
recovering from their surgery
Harshit: Nature can physically heal us and it's absolutely amazing. So next time
you’re in the hospital, be sure to ask for a room with a natural view – you may
save a fortune in hospital bills.
Mitanshu :Our generation is also facing a new wave of mental illness and
depression, especially. We have seen that those who walk through nature have
improved mood, feel stronger connections with family and friends, and are more
concerned with helping their fellow humans.
Rugved: But you are just talking about the benefits of nature. These days alot of
companies sell their products saying their products have natural ingredients
which are good to consume. Even lot of cosmetic companies claim that their
cosmetics are not harmful because they are natural. You cannot deny that they
are often proved wrong because these products harm alot of people.
Vidit: Some companies even add natural terms like their product being "herbal"
to attract the customers whereas they are completely artificially made. So all the
things you guys say used to be true in past . These days it is just a business
strategy, nothing else. I am not saying that Nature is not giving us medicines but
today, people aren't able to get it's complete benefits.
Pratham: I think being close to nature helps to reduce your anxiety, pressure and
stress. Patients who are exposed to outdoors tend to recover more quickly and
have a shorter hospital stays.
Akshita: when in nature we are exposed to plenty of new things which improves
our senses.
Monish: we get best ideas when in nature and we tend to grew physically and
mentally.
Tanya: People got medicine from nature, mostly from plants. In fact, botany, the
study of plants, started out as an arm of medicine.
Kim: Plants can’t move around like we animals do, so they use chemicals to
accomplish a lot of their most basic life functions, everything from fighting off
predators to communicating to reproducing. Isn’t that smart?!
Monish: Scientists know that some animals treat themselves with plants when
they are sick. Bears in the southwestern United States have been observed to dig
up the roots of a plant called osha, chew the roots, then smear the mixture all
over their fur. Osha root is insecticidal.
Rugved: But you don’t have to be or see an herbalist to take medicinal plants.
Chemicals from plants are in many drugs that doctors prescribe today—and that
drugstores sell. Up to 50 percent of modern pharmaceutical drugs either still
contain chemicals harvested from plants, or they’re derived from plants.
Pratham: Medicinal plants, also called medicinal herbs, have been discovered and
used in traditional medicine practices since prehistoric times. Plants synthesise
hundreds of chemical compounds for functions including defence against insects,
fungi, diseases, and herbivorous mammals.
Vidit: Medicinal plants come in all shapes and sizes. Some grow at the tops of
mountains; others in jungles; still others, in deep ocean. Probably some of the
weeds growing in your yard, fields, or even cracks in your sidewalk are medicinal.
rugved :Many think that medicinal plants are hard to find and can only be found
in far-off forests or mountains. The advent of chemically-synthesized drugs made
the home pharmacy disappear with time.
Pratham: The knowledge of common remedies for minor ailments also nosedived
However, thanks to globalisation and the help of internet, more and more people
are getting inclined towards Ayurveda.
Mitanshu :Many of the plants you ingest regularly in food and drink have
medicinal properties. Who knew there was a different kind of drugstore—a vital
and ancient one—all around us?
Kim: Nature is something that I believe we take for granted too often. Yet, it is
something that literally fuels and heals each and everyone of us.
Vidit: Next time you are having a bad day, take a walk outside, have a picnic, or
just watch the stars. I promise you will be better for it.
Tanya : *conclusion*
