Notes for fitting RR69 / RR690

RR69 / RR690
Electrexworld parts RR69 and RR690 (electrically identical but RR690 has 750mm long leads) are
designed to replace original voltage regulator / rectifier module on certain Honda CBR class or
Blackbird motorbikes.

It is recommended that these parts be installed by a qualified motor mechanic.

These motorbikes often suffer from generator burn-out. The Electrexworld RR69 / RR690 has been
designed to greatly reduce generator self-heating and thus reduce the incidence of generator
burnout. The extra “skinny purple wire” is necessary to enable this type of RR to function.

• The chunky white 3way connector is the AC input from the permanent magnet generator. If
the original mating connector is discoloured or burnt, please request replacement
connector parts from Electrexworld to repair the bikes wire harness, rather than damaging
your new RR unit.
• Your CBR bike DC connector for the new RR is probably a 6 way block with 5 wires used:
2xRED wires are the battery charging +ve circuit, 2xGREEN wires are the battery charging
-ve circuit. The skinny black wire in the bike harness is “switched +12Volts sensing from the
back of the ignition switch”, which is used by the new RR to estimate the charge condition
of the battery. Only if your bike has instead the older 4pin block (2xRED + 2xGREEN only, no
skinny black wire), then it is necessary to install the missing new voltage sense wire into
your bike wire harness. This is supplied with the new RR69 or RR690 as a 6way female
housing with 1 skinny purple wire already installed. This is the +12Volts sensing wire, and it
must somehow connect +12Volts to the new RR. The attached M6 ring tag facilitates
easiest direct attachment to the battery +ve stud. Alternatively, you may choose to connect
the new purple wire to a switched source of +12Volts. “Switched OFF Leakage Current” in
the purple wire circuit is otherwise 1.2mA. The original 4way connector block on the bike
harness may be disassembled and the original 2xRED and 2xGREEN terminated wires may
be inserted into the new 6way connector block alongside the new skinny purple wire.
• On new RR69 units, the +ve voltage sense wire is BLACK, same as on the original Honda RR.
• On new RR690 units, the +ve voltage sense wire is PURPLE not BLACK.
