COURSE SYLLABUS

I. College
Vision: Mary the Queen College of Quezon City envisions itself as prime producer of high skilled and trained professionals in the field of Science and
Technology by providing a quality education that will equip them to compete globally.

Mission: As an institution inspired with Marian beliefs and teachings we aspire to live-up with the example and virtues of the Blessed Virgin and mold
out students to become responsible Christians with desirable values.

As an institution of higher learning, we endeavor to develop competent and well-rounded individuals through effective transfer of
knowledge.

Goals: In the pursuit of its mission, the initiatives and efforts of the college are geared towards attainment of the following goals.

2. Relevance and Responsiveness – generation and diffusion of knowledge in the broad range of disciplines relevant and responsive to

II. Course Title : PHILIPPINE LITERATURE

III. School Year : 2015-2016

IV. Course Description : This course studies the literary forms or genres as exemplified by selected literary texts from various regions of the Philippines written
at different periods in Philippine literary history.

V. Course Credits : 3 units/ Semester

VI. Course Outcomes : At the end of the course, the students are be able to,
1. Read and analyze literary selections that exemplify the multivalent Filipino experiences and their multivocal articulation.
2. Understand how Filipino is constituted in Philippine literary texts.
3. Appreciate the different types and forms of Filipino literatures.
4. Value cultural differences and similarities embodied in Philippine literary outpourings.
5. Write an critique paper on a Filipino novel, epic or drama
6. Transform and extend creatively Philippine literary materials to other artistic expression.
