PURPOSE:

 To control, calibrate and maintain inspection, measuring and test equipment used to
demonstrate conformance of the product to specified requirement.

SCOPE:

 This procedure is applicable to inspection, measuring and test equipment used by the
company to demonstrate the conformance of product to specified requirements.

RESPONSIBILITY:

 HOD ( Quality Control ) is over-all responsible for ensuring compliance with this
procedure:
 User departments/sections are responsible for selection, identification controlling,
maintaining and ensuring use of calibrated Inspection , Measuring and Testing
Equipment in their respective area.
 Inspection personnel in every section are responsible for calibration of IMTE and
measurement system analysis.
INPUTS
 List of monitoring and measuring devices
 calibration frequency

RESOURCES / INFORMATION:
 In house facilities for calibration, outside calibration laboratories
 Acceptance criteria for the monitoring & measuring devices.
 Experienced lab engineer(s).

Procedure:

 List of the various devices that are used for monitoring & measurement and that need to
be periodically calibrated shall be prepared. This list shall clearly identify the equipments
by their serial number, location where they are used, working range, calibration
frequency, calibration agency and acceptance criteria.
 The frequency of calibration shall be decided based on the use of these devices and
past experience.
 Calibration of the devices shall be done with a suitably calibrated measuring device that
is traceable to National/International Standards.
 All devices shall be stored, preserved and handled in such a way that inaccuracies in
measuring due to improper storage or handling are avoided.
 A sticker indicating the date of calibration and the due date for next calibration shall put
calibration status of the devices on the devices.

 Calibration records include


 Equipment identification.
 Master/reference equipment used for calibration.
 Actual observations during calibration.
 Verification remarks w.r.t. acceptance criteria.

 New devices shall be purchased along with the calibration certificates. If this is not
available, the equipment shall be calibrated before start of use.

OUTPUT & EFFECTIVENESS MONITORING:

 Duly calibrated devices are the output of the process


 Effectiveness of the process is monitored through instances of devices going out of
calibration.

RECORDS:

 Calibration records of the monitoring & measuring devices file.
