of any works.

• Earth work
• Formation and preparation
 Demarcation of the work area shall be carried out as per the shop drawings.
 The working area will be graded and leveled using grade.

 The leveled soil shall be sprayed with water and compacted at 95% MDD, and then will be inspected.

• Base Build Up
• Supply and lay a Pervious back fill
 Supply and lay 200 mm thick layer of pervious back fill type 5, laying of the marital shall be in 2 Layers,
100mm thick each, laid using the wheel loader, the grading/finishing of the surface shall be by using the
roller compactor without vibration.
 Supply and lay 50 mm thick layer of pervious back fill type 3, laid on top of the pervious back fill type 5,
in one layer using the wheel loader, the grading/finishing of the surface shall be by using the roller
compactor without vibration.

• Geotextile
 Supply and lay one layer of geotextile, laying shall be as per approved drawings with 150 mm overlap.

• Borrow material
 The borrowed material shall be mixed will with water using the wheel loader

 Supply and lay 200 mm thick layer of borrow marital, laid using the grader, the compaction of the layer
shall be by using the roller with 95% MDD.
 the use of the borrow material is limited to the site requirement.

• Subbase/Aggregate subbase
 The subbase/aggregate sub base shall be mixed at site by adding water and transported to the work area for
laying & compaction using loaders and trucks (if required)
 The thickness of the subbase shall be 150mm thick with CBR 30 below the interlocking tiles area
 The thickness of the aggregate subbase shall be 150mm below the asphalt, bicycle and jogging areas.
 All the sub base/aggregate sub base shall be laid in one layer leveled using the grader and compacted to
95% MDD
 A minimum of one density test shall be made for every 1000 m² for the subbase/Aggregate subbase layers.

• Polythene sheet
 Supply and lay one layer of gauge 1000 polythene sheet, with 150mm overlapping, wherever is required as
per the approved shop drawings

8. Kerbstone and interlocking tiles

• Kerbstone work
 Removal and cart away of existing kerbstone including demolition of concrete blinding and hunching.
 Demarcation of the curbstone installation area shall be carried out as per approved shop drawing.
 The kerbstone works shall start after the completion of subbase layer activity in the base buildup.
 Concrete Blinding of 100mm thick shall be casted prior to kerbstone installation.
 The curbstone shall be fixed to the blinding using mortar.
 Finally, Concrete hunching shall be constructed to secure the curbstones in place.

• Interlocking tiles work

 Removal and cart away of existing interlocking tiles including removal of sand bedding.
 Areas identified for Paving’s shall be demarcated.
 The base buildup shall follow the above procedure.
 Prior to installation of Pavers, laying of Polyethylene sheet shall be carried out as per the approved shop
drawings
 Laying and levelling of black sand shall be carried out.
 The thickness of black sand shall be average 50mm.
 Colors, finishing, shape & sizes of tiles shall be as per approved shop drawings.
 Allow for interlocking tiles installation to be carried out.
 Fine sand shall be laid on the interlocks to fill the gaps & compacted.
 Interlocks shall be cut using tile cutting machine.

9. Asphalt work

• Milling and over laying of asphalt

 Locate, identify and mark the required milling area.
 For the existing asphalt 50mm thick layer shall be removed using certified milling machine
 The removed asphalt layer shall be loaded to dumping trucks for carting away.

mechanical brush machine.
 Finally, laying of 50mm layer of wearing course as detailed below.

• Construction of new asphalt

 Areas identified for Asphalt shall be demarcated.
 Prime coat shall be applied to the road base and cured for min of 24 hours.
 80mm Asphalt Base Course Shall be laid on top of the Prime coat.
 Tack coat shall be applied to the Asphalt Base course.
 Prior to spraying tack coat, the area will be cleaned by blowing compressed air over the surface that is to
receive the tack coat.
 Tack coats shall be applied on the base course. Curing time shall be at least 1 hour.
 Tack coats shall be applied in quantities of at least 0.36 l/m2 and not exceeding, however 0.6 l/m2.
 The area will be protected from site traffic until the material has achieved its required tackiness and only
then will asphalting operation begin.
 50mm Asphalt Wearing Course shall be laid next.
 The bituminous material shall be discharging to the paver at a temperature not less than 120 ºC and not
more than 160 ºC.
 Temperature of Bituminous material will be checked and recorded at the mixing plant and at laying using
suitable thermometers.
 Bituminous material will quality controlled sampled and tested at the mixing plant laboratory to ensure
specification compliance with respect to aggregate graduation, bitumen content and marshal design
properties. One sample of mix shall be obtained from daily production or as agreed by Engineer. A sample
to be collected behind the paver prior compaction for Marshall Test.
 Completed pavement layers will be cored as soon as practicable for testing field density compliance.
Samples shall be obtained as per specification or as directed by the Engineer. The minimum compaction
required is 98% of the marshal density.
 After completing the asphalt laying and required compaction, No traffic is allowed to run on the laid
asphalt until reach the initial curing set which will need 2 weeks for light vehicles, 4 weeks for high trucks
