Introduction

Steel is a hard, strong grey or blush-grey alloy of iron with a carbon and usually other elements,
used as a structural and fabricating material. They are many types of steel such as :

1. Carbon steel
2. Alloy steel
3. Stainless steel
4. Tool steel

All of this steel have a different grades, encompassing unique physical, chemical and
environmental properties. The carbon contact in steel can range from 0.1% – 1.5% but the most
widely used grades of steel contain only 0.1%-0.25% of carbon.

Petrol is a light fuel oil that obtained by distilling petroleum and used in internal combustion
engines. RON or Research Octane Number is a number that is awarded to different grades of fuel
with regards to its capability to resist. The correct RON use for all a vehicles engine usually
specified in the owner manual and the fact RON97 is more expensive than RON95.

The steel prices is changing frequently month by month due to the changes of petroleum price
and also keep changing week by week in Malaysia fuel prices. In this project that we had been
given, we can apply the Mathematic formula in chapter three which is the Application of
Differentiation on subtopic Rate of Change. We make a survey of steel and RON95 prices for
three month and four month.
Conclusion

As the conclusion, for the problem one we have to analyze that data material price versus
time (monthly) we get from the hardware. From the data, we create a graph to better understand
about the data that we get. The graph shown that the price versus time are increasing. From the
graph, we make the rate of change for that problem.

From the problem two, as we know petrol price are not stable price. Our group get the
task analyze the price petrol (RON95) for the September (weekly), as same the problem one, in
the problem two, we do same method to analyze. First, we collect the data, make a graph and
then do the rate of change petrol price versus time (weekly).
