MANAGER’S ROLE IN ORGANIZING

Organize the project around the work to be accomplished

- Helps in determining what tasks are to be done, how to do them, how to group the tasks and
where decisions are to be made. Staffing function is essential for employing various types of
persons and performing various activities like training, development, appraisal, compensation,
welfare etc. The directing function requires giving instructions and motivating sub-ordinates to
accomplish their goals.

Develop a work breakdown structure that divides the project into definable and measureable unit
of work

- A work-breakdown structure in project management and systems engineering, is a deliverable-


oriented breakdown of a project into smaller components. A work breakdown structure is a key
project deliverable that organizes the team's work into manageable sections. A work-breakdown
structure element may be a product, data, service, or any combination thereof.

Establish a project organization chart for each project to show who does what

- A project organization chart is a visual diagram that shows who is in the team and the role they
play. It shows the structure of the project organization and the relative power positions of the
team members. It also shows the relationships between team members.

Define clearly the authority and responsibility for all project team member

- The Project Manager works toward ensuring that their efforts are closely aligned to the client's
expectations and established budgets, timelines, and quality requirements. The Project Manager
is still required to ensure that each role and its responsibilities are clearly defined and
communicated, the organizational structure kept as straightforward as possible, and the outcomes
and expectations conveyed as early as possible.
