The topic of the dissertation has to be submitted before 25 th of November 2019 to the
mentors mention in the circular.
The synopsis should be in the range of 2500- 3000 words in Times New Roman with
font size of 12 & 1.5 line spacing
For footnoting, it is referred the ILI Rules of footnoting available at
http://ili.ac.in/footnoting.pdf.
The hard copy of the Synopsis should be submitted to their respective Mentors for
approval and finally it will be submitted to HOD Madam BY December 20, 2019.
The synopsis should also be emailed to Dr Amita Rathi/Ms Arnika Tiwari with cc to
HOD Madam.
The synopsis defense will take place by last week of December 2019.
The detailed schedule will be communicated to you shortly.
When the topic and synopsis will approved, it shall be intimated by your said mentor.
Based on the academic inputs Of HOD and your mentor may ask you to revise the
synopsis and resubmit it on a later date or modify the title chosen.
Introduction
Briefly introduce the topic of research in detail to describe the essence of the concerned
topic.
Briefly describe the main reasons for selecting your topic such as the significance of the
topic from a theoretical perspective or form any other perspective.
Review of Literature
This should include thematic review of primary and secondary sources.
Identify key four to five research questions that you would like to address in your dissertation
or a working hypothesis that you would like to test. In this section you should be able to
demonstrate the significance of the research questions to your overall research.
Research Methodology
Discuss briefly the methodology that you will follow to answer the research questions or
to test the working hypothesis.
Tentative Conclusions
Mention any tentative conclusions that have arrived at from your preliminary research
(it is totally understandable that you may not be able to arrive at any conclusions at
the Synopsis stage or that your conclusions/findings might change as your research
progresses).
Tentative cauterization
This should include a brief description of each cauterization.
Bibliography
Provide a list of leading textbooks, journal articles and other writings and also
primary sources like legislations, treaties and court decisions that you would study for
your dissertation.
