Philippians

More than that, I even consider everything as a loss

because of the supreme good of knowing Christ Jesus my
Lord. For his sake I have accepted the loss of all things and
I consider them so much rubbish, that I may gain
Christ and be found in him, not having any righteousness
of my own based on the law but that which comes through
faith in Christ, the righteousness from God, depending on
faith to know him and the power of his resurrection and
[the] sharing of his sufferings by being conformed to his
death,  if somehow I may attain the resurrection from the
dead.
It is not that I have already taken hold of it or have
already attained perfect maturity, but I continue my
pursuit in hope that I may possess it, since I have indeed
been taken possession of by Christ [Jesus]. Brothers, I for
my part do not consider myself to have taken possession.
Just one thing: forgetting what lies behind but straining
forward to what lies ahead, I continue my pursuit toward
the goal, the prize of God’s upward calling, in Christ Jesus.

PROFESSION OF FAITH

 Credo in un solo Dio, Padre onnipotente,
creatore del cielo e della terra,
di tutte le cose visibili e invisibili.
Credo in un solo Signore, Gesù Cristo,
unigenito Figlio di Dio,
nato dal Padre prima di tutti i secoli:
Dio da Dio, Luce da Luce, Dio vero da Dio vero,
generato, non creato,
della stessa sostanza del Padre;
per mezzo di lui tutte le cose sono state create.
Per noi uomini e per la nostra salvezza
discese dal cielo,
e per opera dello Spirito Santo
si è incarnato nel seno della Vergine Maria
e si è fatto uomo.
Fu crocifisso per noi sotto Ponzio Pilato,
morì e fu sepolto.
Il terzo giorno è risuscitato,
secondo le Scritture,
è salito al cielo, siede alla destra del Padre.
E di nuovo verrà, nella gloria,
per giudicare i vivi e i morti,
e il suo regno non avrà fine.
Credo nello Spirito Santo,

PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL

 Presider: Aware
that we need the Holy Spirit’s help to live up
to the challenges of our Christian commitment, we pray:e
Ascension of our Lord reminds us not only of his glory in
heaven, but also of our duty to be heralds of his Gospel in
our society. Aware of our limitations and weaknesses, we
implore the Lord’s help saying:

COME HOLY SPIRIT, WE NEED YOU!

1. That the whole Catholic Church may be, at all times, an

instrument of reconciliation and a promoter of unity among
all peoples, let us pray!

2. That the Holy Father and all the other leaders of the
Church may constantly provide the faithful with an
inspiring leadership, let us pray!

3. That all the civil leaders throughout the world, may be

guided by wisdom and foresight, in leading their countries
out of the devastation caused by the Corona virus, let us
pray!

4. Let us pray in silence for our personal intentions.

(Pause)Let us pray!

Spirit of life and holiness, guide our hearts into the

Presider:
way of love and service, that we may be valid instruments
in the building of the Kingdom where you live and reign
with the Father and the Lord Jesus, one God, for ever and
ever.

PREPARATION OF THE ALTAR
AND THE GIFTS
During the preparation of the gifts, the Offertory song is sung and the altar table is
prepared. The Presider takes the paten with the bread and, holding it slightly raised above
the altar says:

B enedetto sei tu, Signore, Dio dell'universo:

dalla tua bontà abbiamo ricevuto questo pane,
frutto della terra e del lavoro dell'uomo;
lo presentiamo a te,
perché diventi per noi cibo di vita eterna.
People:
Benedetto nei secoli il Signore.

The deacon pours wine and a little water into the chalice saying inaudibly:
L’acqua unita al vino sia segno della nostra unione
con la vita divina di colui
che ha voluto assumere la nostra natura umana.
Then the Presider takes the chalice and, holding it slightly raised above the altar says:

B enedetto sei tu, Signore, Dio dell'universo:

dalla tua bontà abbiamo ricevuto questo vino,
frutto della vite, e del lavoro dell'uomo;

The Presider bows and says inaudibly:

He may now incense the offerings and the altar. Afterwards the deacon or a minister
incenses the Presider and people.

Next the Presider stands at the side of the altar and washes his hands saying inaudibly:

Lavami, Signore, da ogni colpa,

purificami da ogni peccato.

Standing at the center of the altar, facing the people, he extends and then joins his hands,
saying:

Pregate, fratelli,
perché il mio e vostro sacrificio
sia gradito a Dio, Padre onnipotente.

People:

Il Signore riceva dalle tue mani questo sacrificio

a lode e gloria del suo nome,

He joins his hands and, holding them extended over the offerings, says:

He joins his hands and makes the Sign of the Cross once over the bread and the chalice
together, saying:

In the formulas that follow, the words of the Lord should be pronounced clearly and

 COMMUNION RITE
Presider:

O bbedienti alla parola del Salvatore

e formati al suo divino insegnamento,
osiamo dire:

He extends his hands and, together with the people, continues:

Padre nostro, che sei nei cieli,

sia santificato il tuo nome,
venga il tuo regno, sia fatta la tua volontà,
come in cielo così in terra.
Dacci oggi il nostro pane quotidiano,
e rimetti a noi i nostri debiti
come noi li rimettiamo ai nostri debitori,
e non ci indurre in tentazione, ma liberaci dal male.

With hands extended, the Priest alone continues, saying:

Liberaci, o Signore, da tutti i mali,
concedi la pace ai nostri giorni;
e con l'aiuto della tua misericordia,
vivremo sempre liberi dal peccato
e sicuri da ogni turbamento,
nell'attesa che si compia la beata speranza,
e venga il nostro Salvatore Gesù Cristo.

The people conclude the prayer, acclaiming:

Tuo é il regno, tua la potenza

e la gloria nei secoli.

SIGN OF PEACE
Then the Priest, with hands extended, says aloud:

S ignore Gesù Cristo, che hai detto ai tuoi apostoli:

"Vi lascio la pace, vi do la mia pace",
non guardare ai nostri peccati,
ma alla fede della tua Chiesa,
e donale unita e pace secondo la tua volontà.
He joins his hands.

Tu che vivi e regni nei secoli dei secoli.

The people reply:

Amen.

The Priest, turned towards the people, extending and then joining his hands, adds:

La pace del Signore sia sempre con voi.

The people reply:

E con il tuo spirito.

Then, if appropriate, the Deacon, or the Priest, adds:

Scambiatevi un segno di pace.

And all offer one another a sign, in keeping with local customs, that expresses peace,
communion, and charity. The Priest gives the sign of peace to a Deacon or minister.
Then he takes the host, breaks it over the paten, and places a small piece in the chalice,
saying quietly:

 BREAKING OF THE BREAD
Meanwhile the following is sung or said:

dona a noi la pace.
The invocation may even be repeated several times if the fraction is prolonged. Only the
final time, however, is grant us peace said.

PRIVATE PREPARATION
Then the Priest, with hands joined, says quietly:

Signore Gesù Cristo, figlio di Dio vivo,

che per volontà del Padre
e con l’opera dello Spirito Santo
morendo hai dato la vita al mondo,
per il Santo mistero del tuo Corpo e del tuo Sangue
liberami da ogni colpa e da ogni male,
fa che sia sempre fedele alla tua legge
e non sia mai separato da Te.
Or:

La comunione con il tuo Corpo e il tuo Sangue,

Signore Gesù Cristo,
non diventi per me giudizio di condanna,
ma per tua misericordia,

COMMUNION
The Priest genuflects, takes the host and, holding it slightly raised above the paten or
above the chalice, while facing the people, says aloud:

B eati gli invitati alla Cena del Signore.

Ecco l'Agnello di Dio,
che toglie i peccati del mondo.

And together with the people he adds once:

O Signore, non sono degno

di partecipare alla tua mensa:
ma di' soltanto una parola
e io sarò salvato.

The Priest, facing the altar, says quietly:

Il Corpo di Cristo mi custodisca per la vita eterna.

And he reverently consumes the Body of Christ.

Then he takes the chalice and says quietly:

Il Sangue di Cristo mi custodisca per la vita eterna.

And he reverently consumes the Blood of Christ.

After this, he takes the paten or ciborium and approaches the communicants. The Priest
raises a host slightly and shows it to each of the communicants, saying:

Il Corpo di Cristo

The communicant replies:

Amen.
While the Priest is receiving the Body of Christ, the Communion Chant begins.

 When the distribution of Communion is over, the Priest or a Deacon or an acolyte
purifies the paten over the chalice and also the chalice itself.

While he carries out the purification, the Priest says quietly:

Il sacramento ricevuto con la bocca

sia accolto con purezza nel nostro spirito, o Signore,
e il dono a noi fatto nel tempo
ci sia rimedio per la vita eterna.

Then the Priest may return to the chair. If appropriate, a sacred silence may be observed
for a while, or a psalm or other canticle of praise or a hymn may be sung.

Then, standing at the altar or at the chair and facing the people, with hands joined, the
Priest says:

Preghiamo.
