METHODOLOGY FOR WOODEN FRAME

1.0 PURPOSE
To Define the Work Methodology to be adopted for Carrying out fixing of wooden
door frame at the Project.
2.0 MATERIAL

Approved material will be use for the said work.

3.0 TOOLS & TACKLES

Wood cutting machine,
Drilling machine,
Spirit level,
Measurement tape (metallic of 3m/5m)
Chisel.

Adequate Skilled manpower shall be arranged for every activity.

6.0 ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION

1.This methodology approval are subject to sample approval in full including

anchor fastener , Hold fast, required coat of Anti termite treatment on base.
2. Moisture content shall be checked before accepting frames at site as per ITP.
3. The make and the section of the extruded wooden sections shall be approved

by client from preferred manufacturers.

4. Seasoning process shall be done before planned and shaped to the required
dimension.
5. The door Frame sections shall be fabricated and assembled as per approved
drawings.
6. Application of Anti-termite coating for the frame sides which are getting
abutting to the masonry/RCC face. Before starting of activity Name/Brand of ATT
shall be specified on checklist as per approved by QA/QC.
7. All the section shall be inspected by Contractor for any defect, crack, knots,
holes etc. after this stage pass Anti-Termite application will be done.
8. Random testing as per ITP to be done by Contractor & witnessed by client.
9. Storage shall be done as per define in IS code. Door frame shall be stored in
stacks upon well treated so as to be above the ground level by at least 150mm at
respective building. Stack shall be protected from hot dry winds, direct sun or rain.
The frames shall not drag or place one over other.
10. Ensure proper alignment verticality before embedding hold fast and anchor
fastener.
11. Fixing of door frames shall be done as per the drawing by using MS hold fast
for masonry wall fixing and anchor fastener for RCC face. Client Approved Anchor
fastener as per Make & size shall be used and same shall be mentioned in
Checklist.
12. To fix the hold fast in masonry wall, the procedure fixed in mock up approval
shall be followed.
13. Hold fast of size 250x25x5 mm MS flat on each side embedded in M-15 (1:2:4)
concrete, one at center point and other two at 30 cm from the top and bottom of
the frames.

14. Remove temporary supports like thresh holds and corner parties’ final setting
of hold fast embedment and curing for 7 days.
15. Vertical members of the door frames shall be embedded in the floor for the full
thickness of the floor finish and shall be suitably strutted and wedged in order to
prevent warping during construction.
16. Architrave should be provided at the junction of plaster surface and wooden
frame.

7.0 Safety Measures

1. Safety helmets, shoes, belts and gloves will be provided for carpenters, masons
and helpers.
2. Area lighting will be provided for night work. Good housekeeping will be
ensured.
3. Safety Supervisor shall ensure that Safety Precautions are taken and Safe
Work Environ mentis maintained
