Equation of parabola is givrn by Y = k X2 Where Y & X are with reference to starting point of curve.
Staright length of parabola in elevation X = 19.95 m
Y = 0.995 m
g = b (h - f) / (2a + b) = 0.8649 m
2
Hence K = 0.8649 / 19.95 = 0.0021732
Length of parabola in elevation = X (1 + 2 Y^2/ 3 X^2 ) = 19.98308 m
Additional Length of Parabola in plan = X ( 2 Y^2/ 3 X^2 ) x 2 = 0.000381 m

CALCULATION OF TIME DEPENDENT LOSSES

1. Loss due to Elastic shortening

Elastic shortening loss = 0.5 x m x stress at the CG of cables.

m = 195000 / 36000 = 5.417
2
Elastic shortening loss = 0.5 x 5.417 x 12.893 = 34.92 N/mm

2. Loss due to Creep of concrete ( IRC:112-2011 Clause 6.4.2.7 )

Creep coefficient:
( Table 6.5 of IRC:112)
2
Concrete Cross-sectioal area Ac = 5.359 m
Perimeter in contact with atmosphere , u = 31.572 m
Notational size , ho = 2Ac/u = 339 mm
Age of concrete at the time of loading to = 90 days
t = 25550 days
(  90 ) = 1.32
Creep co-efficient  = cc(t) / ci(t)
cc(t) = Creep strain at time t > to
ci(t) = Initial strain at loading = 0.00035
Hence creep strain cc(t) = 0.000461

Loss due to creep = cc(t) x Es

2
= 0.000461 x 195000 = 89.802 N/mm
% OF Creep losses = 89.80 x 100 = 6.80 %
1320.66
3. Loss due to Shrinkage of concrete ( IRC:112-2011 Page 44 )
Total shrinkage strain cs = cd + ca
cd = Dry shrinkage strain ( IRC:112-2011 Clause 6.4.2.6 page 44 )
ca = Autogeneous shrinkage strain

The final value of dry shrinkage strain cd, final = Kh x cd

Kh is a co-efficient depending on notional size ho = 2Ac/u ho = 339 mm
Hence, Kh = 0.75 - ( 0.75 - 0.70 ) x 39.49 = 0.74
500 - 300
( IRC:112-2011 table 6.7 page 45 )

As per table 6.8 the value of cd corresponding fck = 45

considering relative humadity = 50%
cd = 4.20E-04 - ( 420 - 330.00 ) x -5.00E-06 = 4.380E-04
75 - 50
-
The development of drying and shrinkage strain with time can be taken as
cd (t) = ds (t , ts) x Kh x cd
ds (t , ts) = (t - ts) / (t - ts) + 0.04 sqrt( ho )3

t = age of concrete in days = 1000 days

ts = age of concrete in days at the beginning of drying shrinkage = 28 days
Hence ds (t , ts) = 0.7953
cd (t) = 0.7953 x 0.74 x 4.380E-04 = 2.58E-04

The development of autogeneous shrinkage with time can be taken as ,

ca (t) = as (t) x ca
Where as (t) = 1 - exp (-0.2sqrt(t))
Taking t= 1000 days as (t) = 0.998
ca (t) = 0.998 7.50E-05 + ( 95 - 75.00 ) x -5.00E-06
60 - 50 = 6.488E-05
Total shrinkage strain cs (t) = 2.58E-04 + 6.488E-05 = 3.23E-04

2
Loss due to shrinkage strain = cs (t) x Es = 62.926 N/mm
% of Shrinkage losses = 62.93
x 100 = 4.76 %
1320.66
4. Loss due to relaxation of steel ( IRC:112-2011 table 6.2 Page 34 )
Initial stress = 0.700 UTS
Relaxation loss for low relaxation steel = 2.500 %
2
Initial stress in cable after friction,slip and elastic shortening losses = 1320.66 N/mm
Loss due to relaxation of steel = 1320.66 x 0.025 = 33.016 N/mm2
As per the code the relaxation of steel increased by 3 times = 99.05 N/mm2
Hence percentage of relaxation of steel 3x 2.500 = 7.5 %

Total % loss= 2.644 + 6.80 + 4.76 + 7.5 = 21.709 %

2
Mean compressive strength of concrete = 45 + 10 = 55.0 N/mm
2
Maximum allowable compressive stress = 55.0 x 0.36 = 19.8 N/mm
2
Maximum compressive stress developed = 8.348 N/mm OK
Minimum stress attained at service condition = 2.991 N/mm2 OK

2. CHECK FOR DEFLECTION AT MID SPAN

Downward deflection is given by 1 = 5 x M x L2

48 x E x I

2
Upward deflection is given by 2 = Px e x L
8xExI

Here moment, M = 52769.88 KN-m

Length of girder L = 44200 mm
Modulus of elasticity of concrete E = 36000 N/mm2
4
Moment of inertia I = 4.23E+12 mm
Prestressing force after losses P = 33876.89 KN
Eccentricity e = 1242 mm

Hence downward deflection 1 = 70.56 mm

Upward deflection 2 = 67.51 mm
Net downward deflection = 70.56 - 67.51 = 3.05 mm

TRANSVERSE ANALYSIS OF BOX GIRDER

(Calculation of loads for idealization of box girder)

The Box gerder has been analysed transversely as an RCC frame by taking unit width of the decking along the span. The analysis has been carried out for various loads viz. Dead Load,
Super Imposed dead load (SIDL), Carriageway Live Load (CWLL) and temperature. Various design sections sections have been idealised and designed for the worst combination of the
above loads. The analysis has been carried out by a standard software package . The representative section of the box for transverse analysis is that at mid span, same design shall be hold
good for the other section also.

Total top width = 10.250 m

Depth of Section = 2.300 m
Top width ( outer to outer of webs) = 6.000 m

b eff. (As per IRC:21-2000) = 1.2 x a + b1
Here the location of vehicle for most eccentric case
a = 1.225 m
b1 = 0.25 + 2 x 0.065 = 0.3800 m
beff = 1.2 x 1.225 + 0.3800 = 1.85 m
> 1.2 m
Therefore beff = 1.20
Hence dispersed load w = 1.5 x 57 / 1.20 = 71.25 KN/m

B M at the face of cantiliver = 71.25 x 1.225 = 87.28 KNm/m

Total B M at Cantiliver at Cantiliver Throat = 35.51 + 87.28 = 122.79 KNm/m

Using dia bars of 25 mm deff = 400 - 40 - 12.5 = 347.5 mm

Grade of concrete used fck = 45 Mpa
σcbc = 15.0 Mpa
Grade of steel used fy = 500
Permissible tensile stress in steel σst = 240 Mpa
Modular ratio m = 10
Hence k = 0.384615
J = 0.871795
R = 2.514793 Mpa
Hence moment of resistance = R x b x d2 = 303.677 KNm/m
