GRADE 9 SCIENCE DETAILED LESSON PLAN – NTOT 2018

GRADE LEVEL QUARTER / DOMAIN WEEK & DAY NO. March _____, 2019
9 IV PAGE NO.

I. OBJECTIVES
The learners demonstrate understanding to.
1. the learners demonstrate understanding of uniformly accelerated motion,
A. Content Standards motion in two-dimensions using projectile motion as example, impulse and
momentum, and conservation of linear momentum.

B. Performance 1. propose ways to enhance sports related to projectile motion.

Standards
At the end of the teaching-learning process, 100% of the learner should be able to:
C. Learning 1. define momentum
Competencies/ 2. explain how momentum is directly proportional to an object's mass and directly
Objectives proportional to the object's velocity;
Write the LC code 3. gain understanding how momentum applies to our daily lives
for each

IV. PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing previous Elicit and Engage
lesson or presenting Physicists use P the term inertia to describe this tendency of an object to resist a
the new lesson change in its motion. It is, however, related to an object's mass. To understand how,
consider the sumo wrestler and the boy shown below.

B. Establishing a
purpose for the
lesson

Which person in this ring will be harder to move? The sumo wrestler or the little boy?
Momentum is a measure of how difficult it is to stop a moving object
Which of the two toy vehicles was more difficult to stop – the lighter one or the
heavier one?
The heavier one is more difficult to stop. This is because it possesses a greater inertia
in motion which depends on an object’s mass and velocity.
C. Presenting
examples/instances Do you still remember Newton’s First Law of Motion?
of the new lesson
It is also known as the Law of Inertia. An object’s momentum is also known as inertia
in motion. For objects moving at the same velocity, a more massive object has a
greater inertia in motion therefore a greater momentum. Momentum depends on two
factors, mass and velocity.

D. Discussing new
concepts and
practicing new skills

Elaborate
 How momentum affects our daily lives?
 In Sports how does momentum applied to an object, the ball?
F. Finding practical  Momentum is a commonly used term in sports. A team that has the
applications of momentum is on the move and is going to take some effort to stop. A team
concepts and skills that has a lot of momentum is really on the move and is going to be hard to
in daily living stop. Momentum is a physics term; it refers to the quantity of motion that an
object has. A sports team that is on the move has the momentum. If an object
is in motion (on the move) then it has momentum.

G. Making
generalizations and How is it used in everyday life?
abstractions about What are the factors that affect momentum?
the lesson
1. A passenger sitting in the rear of a bus claims that he was injured when the driver
slammed on the brakes, causing a suitcase at the front of the bus to come flying
towards him. If you were the judge in this case, what disposition would you make and
why?
A: The momentum equation can help us to think about how a change in one of the
two variables might affect the momentum of an object.

2. Which of the following is not true about momentum?

H. Evaluating learning a. it has direction
b. it is conserved in a system
c. it depends on mass and velocity

3. If an object is at rest, can we conclude that there no external forces acting on it?

3. ___________can be defined as "mass in motion."

4. True or False. Momentum depends upon the variables mass and velocity

Extend
1. Determine the momentum of a ...
I. Additional activities
for application or a. 60-kg halfback moving eastward at 9 m/s.
remediation b. 1000-kg car moving northward at 20 m/s.
c. 40-kg freshman moving southward at 2 m/s.
V. REMARKS

VI. REFLECTION
A. No. of learners who earned 80% in the evaluation
B. No. of learners who require additional activities for
remediation
C. Did the remedial lessons work? No. of learners who
have caught up with the lesson
D. No. of learners who continue to require remediation
E. Which of my teaching strategies worked well? Why
did these work?
F. What difficulties did I encounter which my principal
or supervisor can help me solve?
G. What innovation or localized materials did I
use/discover which I wish to share with other
teachers?
