LITERATURE COURSE REFLECTION 2
From my study of this course, I've had an opportunity to learn many things regarding
Literature and their application to the real world. So many concepts have been introduced, for
instance how to find themes and traits of characters from a text. Some ideas were difficult to
understand and therefore required a second book for analysis (Gao, 2018). One thing became
went forward and found more interesting ancient literature books, for example, the "Caucasian
chalk circle" by Bertolt Brecht that was primarily in German but translated to English. I also
manage to read several other books while analyzing literacy features particular books.
One thing that I can mention about the majority of the texts I encountered is that all the
authors incorporated their cultural backgrounds to their work (Jamil & Hamre, 2018). Most of
the authors used symbols that required you to do further analysis to understand them. Some of
the authors created mental pictures in their writing that you could emotionally connect to as you
read them. This opened my eyes, and I could see my surroundings from their perspective.
In the "Caucasian Chalk Circle," Brecht discusses the implications of the war on society
and class differences in ancient times. Brecht promotes selflessness in his book by describing the
kind of sacrifices the main character makes for a child that is not her own. It is fascinating to see
good virtues triumphing over vices as the main character gets a reward at the end of the story.
Learning Literature is a critical step toward understanding the society better. Other than
understanding its concepts, Literature exposes you to the world issues that were there in the past
