IEC 60870-5-103 Communication and LEDs are programmed by the PLC function.
The relay can support the IEC 60870-5-103 communication
AUTOMATIC SUPERVISION
protocol. This protocol is mainly used when the relay
communicates with a control system and is used to transfer Automatic Monitoring Function
measurand data, status data and general commands
The automatic monitoring function will detect failures,
between the relay and the control system.
should they occur, that might cause unwanted operation.
IEC 61850 Communication The items monitored include the following:
- Analog input circuits
GRZ100-201D, -301D and -303D can also support data
communication according to the IEC 61850 standard. Station - Analog-to-digital converter
bus communication as specified in IEC 61850-8-1 facilitates - Watchdog Timer
integration of the relays within substation control and - Binary output circuits
automation systems via Ethernet LAN.
- DC power supply circuits

Automatic Test Function for External

Communication
In the BOP scheme, a signal check-back test function is
provided to check the integrity of the signalling channels.

Alarms
In the unlikely event that a relay failure should occur, this
is detected by automatic monitoring and the LED
ALARM on the relay fascia is illuminated. A binary
“RELAY FAILURE” output is simultaneously operated
and the date/time of any such failure would be stored in
the event record.
