Missions:

There are 100 missions in total which makes this game the longest GTA title in the series.

Los Santos:
Protagonist Carl Johnson returns home to Los Santos and needs to reestablish himself in the
neighborhood. Years previously, the death of his brother, Brian Johnson, was blamed on him
by his elder brother, Sweet, and Carl moved away for a fresh start in Liberty City. Following
the death of his mother in a drive-by shooting, he returns and decides to stay for good.
Missions involve him working for the prominent members of the Grove Street Families: his
brother Sweet, childhood friend and junkie Ryder, and cryptic childhood friend, Big Smoke.
Other than those three, CJ participates in illicit street racing with his sister Kendl's boyfriend,
Cesar Vialpando, who faces a lot of prejudice from Sweet, who looks down on Cesar being
Mexican. CJ also does missions for OG Loc, a GSF associate obsessed with his "gangsta"
rapper image but in reality, his crimes range from parking fines to joyriding. Meanwhile,
C.R.A.S.H., led by Frank Tenpenny and Eddie Pulaski, exploit CJ into doing their dirty work,
under the threat of framing him for Officer Pendelbury's murder, which they committed
themselves.

In the Beginning (given by Carl Johnson) - Watch the opening cutscene, and then make the
way back to Grove Street to receive the first mission.

In the begining

For: Carl Jonhson

Location: Los Santos - Jefferson
Rewards: None

The game starts with Carl Johnson loading his suitcase onto the baggage
carousel at Francis International Airport in Liberty City, saying it is time to
go back home after living in Liberty City for five years. As Carl retrieves his
suitcase at the Los Santos International Airport arrivals lounge, he receives a
phone call from his estranged brother Sweet Johnson, who tells him that
their mother has died. Carl rides a Taxi and heads home to Grove Street.

As Carl nears Grove Street, his Taxi is pulled over by a police car with three
members of C.R.A.S.H. - Frank Tenpenny, Eddie Pulaski and Jimmy
Hernandez. Carl exits the taxi with his hands on his head and is confronted
by the three Los Santos Police Department police officers. Tenpenny
confiscates Carl's money, which he claims to be drug money. After that
Tenpenny bundles Carl into the police car.

Tenpenny threatens Carl to frame him for the murder of LSPD officer Ralph
Pendelbury (which was actually committed by Hernandez when he was
forced to do so by Tenpenny and Pulaski). Tenpenny tells Carl that he will be
watching him. The officers then throw Carl out of the car in Jefferson, a
territory of Ballas. The game then instructs Carl to get on the BMX parked
nearby and make his way back to Grove Street.

Objectives:
1. Get on the BMX bicycle.
2. Follow the "CJ" icon on the map and go to Johnson House in Grove Street.

Sweet and Kendl

For: Sweet Johnson

Location: Los Santos – Vinewood (Vinewood cemetery)
Conditions of mission failure:
 Wasted
 Busted
 Sweet dies
 Big Smoke dies
 Ryder dies
 BMX destroyed
 Get too far from Ryder or Big Smoke
Unlocks: Ryder
Rewards: Respect, Johnsons house

Carl and Big Smoke arrive at the cemetery in Vinewood. They are greeted by
Carl's sister Kendl, while fellow gang member Ryder looks on. Carl expresses
his sorrow towards his brother Sweet, but Sweet gets annoyed at Carl,
stating that Carl ran away from her funeral just like their younger brother
Brian's five years prior. Kendl goes to leave, saying that she's going to see
her boyfriend, Cesar, who is apart of a rival gang. Sweet and Kendl argue,
which leads to Kendl storming off while Sweet notifies Carl of the deaths of
other former Grove Street members, Tony, Big Devil and Little Devil.

As Carl, Sweet, Smoke and Ryder are leaving the cemetery, some Ballas
attempt a drive-by shooting, destroying Smoke's Perennial while doing so.
The four Grove Street members steal four BMX bikes and try to evade the
Ballas car. After riding their bikes through Los Santos, they stop in a car
park under the freeway. Sweet splits up from Carl, Smoke and Ryder while
being chased by the Ballas car. Carl follows Smoke and Ryder through the
car park and onto the streets, where the Ballas car eventually catches up to
them. The three Grove members escape back to Grove Street and are soon
joined by Sweet.

After meeting up again, Sweet asks Carl when he's leaving again, to which
Carl tells him that he's staying around this time. Smoke tells him to drop in
whenever, while Ryder belittles Carl for his haircut and choice of clothing.

Gta San Andreas

Sweet, Smoke and Ryder leave while Carl heads back into the Johnson
House.
Objectives:
1. Get on the bike
2. Follow Sweet
3. You're too far away. Stay with Sweet (if CJ falls too far behind.)
4. Follow Ryder

If the player destroys the Ballas' Voodoo (or kills both Ballas in it) before the cutscene under the Mulholland
Intersection, Sweet won't split from the rest of the gang and the Voodoo won't reappear in Idlewood, and the
relevant cut-scene will omit the part that Sweet escapes. However their vehicle will appear in a later mission
regardless.

If the player steals a car instead of taking the BMX bike, during the ending cutscene in Ganton, Carl won't be
sitting on the bike talking with Sweet, Smoke and Ryder, but will be standing and talking with them instead, and
the vehicle he used will be parked nearby, or, on certain occasions, vanish.

During the final cutscene, Ryder can be seen riding his bike around the cul-de-sac and doing wheelies while Big
Smoke and Sweet talk to Carl. If the player used a car during the chase and left it sitting in the middle of the
Grove Street cul-de-sac, Ryder will crash through the vehicle quite violently and it will get pushed away very
easily, as if it was very light. A video of this can be seen here.

If the player destroys the Ballas' Voodoo without killing the Ballas in it, they might steal another car to continue
chasing the quartet.

Strangely, if the Ballas inside the Voodoo start shooting around normal Ballas' territory they will become hostile
towards the Ballas not in the Voodoo, even though they are in the same gang. A video of this can be seen here.

Ryder, Sweet, and Big Smoke cannot be knocked off their bikes. But they can be killed by any weapons if the
player has had before this mission or during the progress, however this will lead to the failure of this mission. If
one of them is killed, he will sometimes drop money.

If the player saves and reloads their game after this mission, their save file will read that Big Smoke was the last
completed mission. This is most likely a glitch.

GTA V's mission "Hood Safari" makes a subtle reference to this mission, where the player can see three men
riding away from Grove Street on bicycles. These men resemble Carl, Big Smoke and Ryder.

No matter where the player goes during this mission, even into locked areas, the Ballas will still follow Carl,
continuously respawning behind the player and chasing him. A video of this can be seen here.

Not counting the player, in the whole chase, Ryder will always be on the first position, Sweet on second and Big
Smoke on last position.

The Kilo Tray Ballas are likely the set seen in this mission, as the Voodoo with the same color is seen again in
Drive-Thru.

If Carl kills the gunner of the car, he will not fall off the car despite most occasions the door will open after the
occupant is killed even if the door is locked. The driver will get off instead.

If the driver dies before the gunner does, the driver side door will remain open, granting Carl a opportunity to
obtain this unique-colored vehicle.

If the mission is failed when the chasing car is still in sight, they will strangely turn away instead of attacking
Carl.

Gta San Andreas

If Carl doesn't get on the bike and instead goes somewhere else, the others will wait for him in a location.

If the player notices well, the Voodoo only tries to attack Carl and Sweet (if Carl's close enough to him), and
completely avoids Smoke and Ryder, foreshadowing their betrayal.

Ryder

For: Ryder
Location: Los Santos – Ganton (Ryders house)
Conditions of mission failure:
 Wasted
 Busted
 Ryder dies
 Freaking out the pizza restaurant manager
 Freaking out Old Reece
 Ryder's Picador destroyed
Unlocks: Tagging up turf
Rewards: Respect, Barbers, Restaurants, Tattoo parlors

Carl drops by Ryder's house in Grove Street. Ryder does not seem that
excited to see Carl back. Ryder explains that a local pizza store in Idlewood
keeps painting over a Grove Street Families tag on the building, and he
wants to "teach the owner a lesson". He asks Carl to come along, to which
Carl agrees. The two get into Ryder's Picador and drive over to the barber
shop. Carl asks if Old Reece still owns the shop, to which Ryder warns Carl
not to get a haircut there, stating that Reece popped his membrane years
ago. Despite Ryder's advice, Carl goes inside the barber shop and gets a new
haircut. Afterwards, Carl goes back outside and Ryder comments on his new
haircut.

Ryder tells Carl to go over to the pizza place across the street and get them
some food while he finishes smoking. After Carl orders the food, Ryder walks
over to the counter with a gun and attempts to rob the premises. However,
the clerk recognises Ryder, frightens Ryder and Carl off with a shotgun, and
calls the police. Carl and Ryder flee outside and get into Ryder's Picador.
Carl and Ryder drive back to Ryder's house in Grove Street.

After returning to Grove Street, Ryder tells Carl to go over and see Sweet at
his house to talk to him about the graffiti all across the hood.

Gta San Andreas

Objectives:
1. Get in Ryder's car
2. Go with Ryder to the barbers
3. Walk into the marker to get a haircut
4. Enter the Pizza shop and buy some food
5. Walk into the marker to buy a pizza
6. Get in Ryder's car
7. Drive Ryder home

After the player comes out of the barbers and talks to Ryder, if Carl comes out with an expensive haircut
($200+), Ryder takes back what he said about Reece. If Carl comes out with a cheaper hairstyle (under $200), he
will continue to insult Reece (this appears to be false in the Xbox version of the game, as coming out with a Flat
Top ($500) will still cause Ryder to insult Reece).

If a player visits Old Reece without money, they will automatically be given $52. In the pizza shop, they will be
given $2, allowing them to buy the cheapest meal.

The song heard inside Ryder's home is Alwayz Into Somethin' by N.W.A, a song also heard on Radio Los
Santos.

The clerk in the pizza shop says to Ryder, "I feel sorry for your dad," similar to what a clerk says to a character
in the beginning of the movie, "Menace II Society," which Ryder's voice actor, MC Eiht, has appeared in.

In the brief cutscene at Ryder's House, Ryder armed himself with a Glock 17, but when he's about to rob the
Pizza Parlor, he pulls out a Colt M1911A1. This is due to the fact that the Pistol in GTA: San Andreas has two
different models: A Glock model for cutscenes, and the Colt model (originally from GTA III) for gameplay.

In a beta screenshot, Ryder can be seen leaning against a Sadler.

Before the player stops at the barber, Ryder's car is damage-proof. However, the engine will still begin smoking
if it sustains too much damage.

The cutscene where Ryder comment's on Carl's hair cannot normally be skipped. However, if the player fails and
retries the mission, it can be skipped.

As long as you're in Los Santos, the clerk will follow wherever you are until you complete the mission.

Tagging up turf

For: Sweet Johnson

Location: Los Santos – Ganton (Sweets house)
Conditions of mission failure:
 Wasted
 Busted
 Sweet dies
 Greenwood destroyed
 Spray Can is replaced by Fire Extinguisher or Camera
Unlocks: Cleening the hood
Rewards: Respect, 200$, spray can

Carl arrives at Sweet's house, where Sweet and Big Smoke are playing
basketball. Sweet questions if Carl is really back for good. Sweet hands Carl
a can of spray paint and tells him to go spray over enemy tags. Carl leaves as
Sweet and Big Smoke resume their game.

Sweet suddenly decides to go with Carl and the two drive over to Idlewood.
Sweet shows Carl how to tag over an enemy gang tag and tells Carl to go
spray over two more tags in nearby while he keeps the car running. Carl
sprays over the two tags nearby and then gets back into Sweet's car. The
Johnson Brothers drive over to East Los Santos, which is Ballas territory.
They arrive there and Sweet tells Carl to go spray over some more tags. Carl
is left alone and encounters two Ballas in an alleyway right near a tag, who
act hostile towards Carl after they see him spray over their tag. Carl escapes
them and jumps a fence into another nearby alleyway. Carl climbs onto a
small building, where he sprays over one final tag.

Afterwards, Sweet rushes back and tells Carl to quickly get in. Carl runs
over to Sweet and they drive back to Grove Street. Carl and Sweet reach
Sweet's house, to which Sweet gives Carl some money before splitting up.

Objectives:

Gta San Andreas

1. Get in Sweet's car.

2. Drive with Sweet to Idlewood.
3. Spray over the remaining tags in this area.
4. Get back in Sweet's car!
5. Drive to East Los Santos.
6. Find and spray over the tags.
7. Go to the blip to find the next target.
8. Get back in Sweet's car!
9. Go back to Sweet's house.

When Sweet drops Carl off at East Los Santos and drives away in his Greenwood to "roll on another hood", after
Carl gets out of the car, Sweet will not move over to the driver's seat despite the car driving off.

If the player has already sprayed over the tags before the mission, they will be cleared and the tag counter will be
reset until sprayed over again.

Sweet will not spray over any more tags during this mission, despite driving off to "spray over other tags around
the area". The only tags sprayed will be the six during this mission (the five tagged by Carl and the demo tag by
Sweet).

The Spray Can has unlimited capacity during this mission. Thus, it's a good idea to use it for immediately
spraying every tag in Los Santos.

If Carl is morbidly obese with low muscle at the start of this mission, the player will have to find an alternate
route to the rooftop to spray one of the tags as he will be unable to jump the second fence.

After being dropped off in East Los Santos, if the player goes back to Grove Street before spraying over the last
three tags, Sweet's car can be found parked on the street, with Sweet sitting in the passenger seat. If the player
destroys Sweet's car at this point, the mission will still fail.

If the player replaces the spray can with another weapon, the mission will fail and Sweet will get out of the car
and will walk like a normal pedestrian. He will also attack the player with his spray can if Carl attacks him in
any way.

Cleening the hood

For: Sweet Johnson

Location: Los Santos – Ganton (Sweets house)
Conditions of mission failure:
 Wasted
 Busted
 Ryder dies
Unlocks: Drive - Thru
Rewards: Respect

Ryder, Big Smoke, and Sweet are inside Sweet's house, talking about the
crack cocaine epidemic in the city as CJ arrives. After an argument, Ryder
and CJ decide to take care of business and deal with some of the crack
dealers that supply the Grove Street gang members. They first go to visit B
Dup and Big Bear in Ganton Courts, as CJ wants to recruit some of his old
friends.

Upon arriving, B-Dup angrily tells the two to stay away, with Big Bear
working as his crack slave. Carl attempts to convince him to return to Grove
Street but fails miserably. Ryder and Carl both leave and spot a crack dealer
nearby selling drugs to Grove Street gang members. They kill him, and Ryder
discovers the whereabouts of the dealer's home.

The pair then drive to Crystal Gardens, entering the crack den in Idlewood
and killing every Ballas gang member inside. After finishing off everybody,
they head back to Ganton.

Objectives:
1. Go to B Dup's crib.
2. Go beat up the crack dealer.
3. Go to the Dealer's Place.

Gta San Andreas

4. Go beat up the crack dealer.

5. Go back to Sweet's house.

The song featured in the pre-mission cutscene is "Funky Worm" by the Ohio Players, which can also be heard on
Bounce FM.

The song featured in the cutscene at B Dup's apartment is "Hood Took Me Under" by Comptons Most Wanted,
which can be heard on Radio Los Santos and features Ryder's voice actor MC Eiht.

During the cutscene where CJ and Ryder enter the Ballas crack den, a hooker can be seen giving a Ballas gang
member oral sex in the back room.

Drive - Thru

For: Sweet Johnson

Location: Los Santos – Ganton (Sweets house)
Conditions of mission failure:
 Wasted
 Busted
 Sweet dies
 Big Smoke dies
 Ryder dies
 Greenwood destroyed
 Ballas reach Grove Street
Unlocks: Nines and AKs
Rewards: Respect, 200$, gyms

Carl arrives at Sweet's house to find Sweet, Smoke, and Ryder walking out.
Smoke suggests getting something to eat. Carl, Sweet, Smoke and Ryder get
into Sweet's car and drive to Cluckin' Bell. On the way, Carl asks how his
mother was killed, to which Ryder replies that they were trying to kill Sweet
and that people say they saw a green Sabre involved in the shooting. They go
to the drive-thru and order their food, which sees Smoke order food made for
seven people. After collecting the food, Ryder spots some Kilo Tray Ballas in
a pink Voodoo, the same one that chased them a few days earlier, heading
towards Grove Street.

The Ballas are chased by Carl, Sweet, Smoke and Ryder. Sweet and Ryder
shoot at the Ballas car, while Smoke stuffs his face with food. The Ballas car
is eventually destroyed, killing the Ballas inside. Afterwards, Carl drives
Sweet, Smoke and Ryder back to Grove Street. Carl then drives Smoke back
to his house in Idlewood. Along the way, Carl asks Smoke why he moved out
of Grove Street. Smoke tells Carl that he received money from his aunt's will,
but Grove Street will always be his home. When Carl and Smoke reach
Smoke's house, Smoke gets out and heads inside.

Gta San Andreas

Objectives:
1. Get in the car.
2. Drive to the Cluckin' Bell drive thru.
3. Chase down the gang car before they cap your homies.
4. Kill the Ballas gang members.
5. Go back to Sweet's house.
6. Drive Smoke to his house.

In this mission, the Ballas are seen using a pink Voodoo with tinted windows. This is odd due to the Grove Street
Families using the Voodoo as a gang car, not the Ballas. The pink Voodoo was earlier seen in the mission Sweet
& Kendl.

At the end of the mission, the Greenwood will be fireproof.

Even though the group go to Cluckin' Bell, Ryder can be seen taking a box from Big Smoke with the Burger
Shot logo on it.

During the cutscene in the drive-thru, after the four make their orders at the menu part, Smoke picks up the food
at the same spot but the pick-up window is on the other side of the building.

The song playing during the cutscene at Cluckin' Bell is "B.Y.S" by Gang Starr, which can also be heard on
Playback FM.

When CJ, Smoke, Ryder, and Sweet enter the Greenwood, Ryder sits in the front passenger seat, Smoke sits
behind CJ, and Sweet sits behind Ryder in the rear passenger seat. However, when they start chasing the Ballas,
Smoke and Sweet swap seats without explanation. This is most likely a developer oversight.

When the second cutscene begins after the quartet arrives at the drive-thru, a four-armed model of Big Smoke
can be seen standing up. A video of this can be seen here. This can be seen easier on the remastered version on
the Xbox 360 as the cutscene now shows in widescreen.

If the player fails to kill the Ballas before they reach the Grove Street cul-de-sac, they will gun down two Grove
Street Families members, failing the mission. A prompt will read, "You failed to protect your homies."

Big Smoke's drive-thru order of an unusually large amount of food, a comical relief in the game, became an
internet meme in late 2016.

In the opening cutscene, the interior of Sweet's house can be seen loaded in the "exterior world" placed in the
building itself. However, in normal gameplay, if Carl goes through the building, he will only find a half-solid
floor and four walls. This is because in this cutscene, the model of the interior is a cutscene object itself, as
opposed to being a loaded interior.

Nines and AKs

For: Sweet Johnson

Location: Los Santos – Ganton (Sweets house)
Conditions of mission failure:
 Wasted
 Busted
 Big Smoke dies
 Emmet dies
 Glendale destroyed
Unlocks: Drive by, OG Loc
Rewards: Respect, Emmets, Binco, Sub Urban, Prolaps

Carl arrives at Sweet's house, where Sweet, Smoke and Ryder are playing dominoes. Carl
asks what type of guns Grove Street Families have at the moment. Ryder tells Carl about the
police raiding Grove Street, leaving them with very little firepower. Carl asks what happened
to Emmet. Smoke replies by saying that Emmet is a member of the Seville Boulevard
Families, who are not so close with Grove Street anymore but still agrees to take Carl to see
him. Carl and Smoke get into Smoke's car drive to Emmet's in Willowfield.

On the way, Smoke tells Carl about Seville, Temple Drive Families, and Grove Street
Families not getting along. Smoke then tells Carl that he is a leader and to remember him
when he gets to the top. They arrive at Emmet's place, where they find him fiddling with a
Desert Eagle, which accidentally misfired, spooking Emmet and thinking that someone was
shooting at him. He sees Carl and Smoke but does not recognize him at first. Emmet mistakes
Carl for Brian, his dead brother, but realizes his error and gives his condolences to Carl about
his mother. Smoke tells Emmet that they want to get revenge on the people who did it, and in
return, Emmet offers to give them some shooting practice.

Smoke demonstrates how to shoot glass bottles, as Carl does the same thing. Carl is also
taught how to aim at a car's fuel tank for quick destruction, with Carl hitting the target,
practicing the technique on a Tampa. Afterwards, Emmet praises Carl's accuracy, as Carl and
Smoke leave. Carl then drives Smoke back to his house in Idlewood.

Gta San Andreas

After dropping Smoke off, Carl gets a phone call from Sweet. Sweet tells Carl to go check out
the Binco clothing store just up the road from Grove Street and get himself some Grove Street
colors. Carl goes to the clothing store and buys some green clothing to wear, and then leaves.

Objectives:
1. Go with Smoke to Emmet's house.
2. Try shooting the bottles while crouching.
3. Use the manual aim to shoot the car's gas tank.
4. Drive Smoke home.
5. Get over to Binco and get yourself some Grove Street colors!
6. Go inside the Binco clothes shop.
7. Walk into the marker to try on some new threads.

During the first cutscene, the song playing in Sweet's house is "Fuck Wit' Dre Day" by Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg.
This song can also be heard on Radio Los Santos.

Sweet mentions that Emmet got Mac, a weapon which was actually supposed to be included, but cut. It is likely
the quote was made before the MAC-10 was cut.

In the PC version of the game, even if the controls are set to "Mouse + Keys" (standard controls configuration),
which doesn't have an auto-aim feature, the instructions given to shoot the bottles still display controls only used
for auto-aiming.

In the cutscene where Carl and Big Smoke meet Emmet, Emmet is seen wearing a red shirt under his green
jacket, but in gameplay his shirt is white.

When Emmet fires his Desert Eagle, it uses a more realistic special shooting effect. The effect is later shown
again in the mission End of the Line.

Drive by

For: Sweet Johnson

Location: Los Santos – Ganton (Sweets house)
Conditions of mission failure:
 Wasted
 Busted
 Sweet dies
 Big Smoke dies
 Ryder dies
 Greenwood destroyed
 Abandoning the vehicle
Unlocks: Sweets girl, Home invasion
Rewards: Respect, 500$

Carl arrives at Sweet's doorstep where he overhears Ryder talking to Sweet, criticising Carl's
driving skills, with Ryder oblivious to the fact Carl is standing behind him. Ryder tells Carl
that he's always crashing cars, but Sweet convinces Ryder to agree to Carl driving, while he
rides shotgun. Carl, Sweet, Ryder and Big Smoke get into Sweet's car and drive to Ballas
territory around the Jefferson/Glen Park areas to perform a series of drive-by shootings. The
gang arrive and pull over at tge side of the road to discuss the plan, with Sweet telling Carl to
continue driving and not stop the car at any time.

The gang end up shooting three sets of Ballas gang members, before killing a fourth and final
set in Glen Park. At this point, they receive police attention. Carl drives over to the Pay 'n'
Spray in Idlewood to lose them, before taking the gang back to Grove Street.

Objectives:
1. Get in the car.
2. Drive your homies into Balla territory.
3. Take out the first group of Ballas.
4. Take out the second group of Ballas.

Gta San Andreas

5. Take out the third group of Ballas.

6. Take out the fourth group of Ballas.
7. Use the nearby Pay 'n' Spray to lose the cops.
8. Take your homies back to the hood.

If Carl gets out of the car, Sweet will tell him "not to run on [him] again". If Carl walks too far away from the
car, Ryder will say, "Damn! He shook us!" before Big Smoke takes the wheel and drives away. The mission will
fail and the message "You sure you're down for the 'hood?" will appear on-screen. A video of this can be seen
here.

Also, if the car is on fire and Carl jumps out, the mission will fail and the screen will say "Your homies didn't
make it".

Ryder's comment on Carl's driving could be a reference to the driving of many Grand Theft Auto players, and
the many crashes they have due to recklessness.

The only way to actually lose the wanted level in this mission is to go to the Pay 'n' Spray in Idlewood where the
mission tells you to go, as the others won't work. A video of this can be seen here.

It is not possible to lose wanted level in this mission by picking up police bribes, a video of this can be seen here.

Big Smoke doesn't appear in the first cutscene but he is present during the rest of the mission.

Sweets girl

For: Sweet Johnson

Location: Los Santos – Ganton (Sweets house)
Conditions of mission failure:
 Wasted
 Busted
 Sweet dies
 Sweet's Girlfriend dies
Unlocks: Cesar Vialpando
Rewards: Respect

Carl Johnson drops by his brother's house. Upon arrival, however, he realises that nobody is
home. Carl walks out of the house and receives a phone call from Sweet. Sweet informs Carl
that he has been ambushed by Seville Boulevard Families gang members while visiting his
girlfriend in Playa del Seville, and that they have surrounded his girlfriend's flat. Carl arrives
at Sweet's girlfriend's flat, where he discovers that they are being attacked by five gunmen,
two of them are armed with Tec-9s and the other three are carrying 9mm pistols. Sweet is
firing back with his own pistol, but his ammunition is depleting quickly, prompting Carl to
resolve the situation by killing the gang members. After killing the gang members, Sweet
phones Carl again and tells him to acquire a four-door vehicle to drive Sweet and his
girlfriend home. Carl picks up both Sweet and his girlfriend, who are immediately chased by
three Seville Boulevard Families gang cars. After fending off the pursuing gang members,
Carl drives Sweet and his girlfriend back to Sweet's house, where Sweet pledges to end the
"green on green" war.

Objectives:
1. Get over to Sweet before the Seville Boulevard set finish him off.
2. Get over to Emmet's if you need a piece.
3. The Seville Boulevard Families have Sweet surrounded in his girl's flat. Take
those Seville boys out!
4. Fetch a four door car to pick up Sweet and his girl.
5. Get back to your hood.

Gta San Andreas

Sweet's girlfriend uses the same model as the receptionist at the Las Venturas Planning Department (during the
mission Architectural Espionage), and one of the models on the Zip billboard in Rodeo.

Some dialogue from this mission before the action was deleted. For example, Sweet's girlfriend originally spoke
during the mission, as evidenced by the audio files.

The girlfriend will still speak when bumped into, although these quotes are simply reused from the pedestrian
model she uses.

Sometimes in the mobile versions of the game, the mission can crash before the cutscene starts. This happens
rarely, however, and can be fixed by simply doing other missions beforehand.

When Sweet tells his girlfriend to get inside his house before speaking to Carl, she will instantly disappear once
the brothers start talking. This can be observed when looking below Sweet's armpit whilst he is talking to Carl.

The in-game text refers to Sweet's girlfriend's house as a "flat". which is the British English equivalent of
"apartment", a reference to Rockstar Games' British origins.

The Seville Boulevard Gang members are only active during this mission. As when roaming around the area
outside of missions, players can still interact with the them as if they were Grove Street Families members. This
is just to demonstrate that this is another chapter of the Grove Street Families however haven't been seeing eye to
eye lately in this point of the story.

If players cause any damage to the four-door seated vehicle they are driving while on the way back to Grove
Street after picking up Sweet and his girlfriend, an additional quote will be used, which includes Sweet stating
that he won't drive as bad as CJ to his girlfriend.

Cesar Vialpando

For: Sweet Johnson

Location: Los Santos – Ganton (Sweets house)
Conditions of mission failure:
 Wasted
 Busted
 Savanna destroyed
 Lowrider Challenge lost
Unlocks: High stakes low rider, Doberman
Rewards: Money, Lowrider challenge, Loco Low Co, TransFender

Carl drops by Sweet's house, only to find Sweet and Kendl arguing because of Kendl's
relationship with Cesar Vialpando, the leader of the Varrios Los Aztecas. After a while, Kendl
leaves, and Sweet furiously orders CJ to go and watch over Kendl in case anything dangerous
occurs.

Carl goes to the Loco Low Co. garage in Willowfield. Once there, he is given a Savanna by a
worker who says that he owed Sweet from way back. Carl modifies the car and then goes to
the meet in Unity Station, where Kendl and Cesar are going to be. Upon arriving, he competes
against a Varrios Los Aztecas gang member in a lowrider competition. After getting more
points on bouncing his lowrider's hydraulics in time with the music, Carl wins the wager he
earlier made.

Kendl happily celebrates and hugs Carl, just as Cesar shows up and shakes hands. Carl tells
Kendl he's there to make sure her boyfriend doesn't harm her, and when Kendl hugs Cesar he
tries to separate them. An argument ensues and one of Cesar's friends attempts to start a fight
with Carl. Cesar, however, manages to stop it. Things calm down, and Cesar explains that
Carl has to accept that he treats Kendl well, and is her boyfriend. Carl sees that Cesar is
indeed treating Kendl well, and agrees not to interfere. Cesar and Carl then introduce
themselves to one another properly then head their separate ways.

Gta San Andreas

Objectives:
1. Go to the garage in Willowfield.
2. Back up the lowrider into the mod garage.
3. Get to the lowrider meeting.
4. Use the suspension controls to bounce in time with the music.
The lowriders that leave the station when the challenge is completed usually seemingly do not have hydraulics,
which is strange since hydraulics are required to join the event. However, if Carl kills one of the drivers and gets
into one of the lowriders, sometimes it will have hydraulics equipped already.

Kendl can be seen taking a pink jar of Slick-O-Greese Sex Lard with her at the beginning of the mission before
she goes to see Cesar.

When CJ is confronted by Cesar's gang members, the one speaking uses the same model as the snitch seen in
The Introduction.

Should the original Savanna be lost, a replacement may be found parked in the strip mall parking lot directly
south of the Johnson House in Ganton.

The mission complete song will not play after successfully completing this mission.

The music that is heard when Kendl introduces CJ to Cesar is "How I Could Just Kill a Man" by Cypress Hill.
This can also be heard on Radio Los Santos.

OG Loc

For: Big Smoke

Location: Los Santos – Idlewood (Big Smokes house)
Conditions of mission failure:
 Wasted
 Busted
 Sweet dies
 Big Smoke dies
 OG Loc dies
 Freddy escapes
 Glendale destroyed
 PCJ-600 destroyed
Unlocks: Runing dog, Life is a beach
Rewards: Respect

Carl goes to visit Big Smoke at his house in Idlewood, but there's no answer at the door. Just
then, Sweet and Big Smoke are seen walking down the driveway and greet Carl. Sweet and
Smoke tell Carl that they have to go to the police station in Pershing Square to pick up their
friend Jeffrey, who was imprisoned for joyriding and parking fines. On the way to the police
station, Smoke tells Carl that Jeffrey is now called "OG Loc". When they arrive at the station,
Loc is waiting outside at the front of the building. Carl calls Loc by his real name Jeffrey,
which annoys him. Sweet and Smoke then mock him for not going to college. Loc then tells
them they have to go see a "Cholo motherfucker" named Freddy in East Los Santos, who
apparently stole Loc's rhymes. Although, it is implied multiple times that Loc was raped in
prison by Freddy.

In the car, en route to East Los Santos, Loc tells the others he got a job at Burger Shot,
courtesy of his parole officer. They soon arrive at the Vagos member's house. Sweet and
Smoke leave while Carl stays with Loc. Carl and Loc confront Freddy at his house, who
simply says that it was "a prison thing" and then escapes outside via the back door onto a
bike. Carl and Loc quickly jump onto another motorbike and give chase to Freddy throughout

Gta San Andreas

the streets, alleyways and freeways of Los Santos. Freddy soon takes off down the railway
tracks and stops at a basketball court where more Vagos members are awaiting Carl and Loc's
arrival. Carl and Loc get into a small shootout with the Vagos members, who are killed along
with Freddy. Loc then asks Carl to give him a lift to the Burger Shot in Marina. Carl agrees
and drives Loc to the fast-food joint. Loc tells Carl that he'll see him around and heads inside
while Carl leaves.

Objectives:
1. Pick up OG Loc from the police station.
2. Drive to Freddy's house.
3. Go and ring the doorbell.
4. Catch and kill Freddy!
5. Take OG Loc to the employees' door at the back of the Burger Shot.

This is the first mission that uses the Trip Skip feature if the player has failed the mission beforehand.

In the cutscene when picking up Jeffrey, Big Smoke's car will sometimes be white, instead of the usual blue
color. When the cutscene ends, the Glendale is back to being blue again.

Note that if Freddy is killed during the chase, Carl Johnson and OG Loc will teleport to the basketball court, then
teleport back to where Freddy was killed, the bike will leave and the player will be on foot. However, if the
basketball challenge had been completed on any of the courts before the mission and the bike is parked in the
middle of the court, after the cutscene, the motorbike will still be there.

After getting on the bike and entering the first alley, a dead person Freddy killed will always be seen next to an
onlooker.

After the cutscene, Big Smoke and Sweet will head back to the hood. They can be killed with guns, the Rocket
Launcher or the "Blow up all cars" cheat, but this will fail the mission.

If aiming at OG Loc when he is at Freddy's door, he will start attacking Carl.

At some point, Freddy will park his motorcycle and get the Vagos to support him. The player can just use the
stairs where Freddy parked his motorcycle as cover and let OG Loc do all the work.

Freddy said "you dropped the soap sugar" and "it was just a prison thing", indicating that he raped OG Loc in
prison.

After killing Freddy, he will drop around $500 but the player will need to collect them quickly before the
cutscene. However in the PC and mobile edition of the game (confirmed), the player can still collect them after
the cutscene.

After Carl and OG Loc are dropped off at Freddy's house, as Big Smoke drives away, he may sometimes
accidentally run over OG Loc, depending on how the player initially parked the car.

During this mission, Freddy drives his PCJ-600 alone, while still able to shoot in any direction. This feature is
neither available to CJ in the game (CJ can only shoot ahead or to the side, while driving the bike), nor ever done
by any other character.

It is possible to lose OG Loc by crashing the PCJ-600. Carl will then be on his own to kill Freddy. However,
even if this happens and Carl kills Freddy before he reaches the basketball court, the cutscene where OG Loc
points a gun at him after his death will appear.

If Carl happens to steal Freddy's bike before he is dead, the game will crash.

Gta San Andreas

Freddy can also be shot at by Vagos or Ballas gang members while cruising on the motorcycle attracting
attention by shooting. He can also be killed by other gang members (especially Ballas) when he dismounts his
bike and becomes accompanied by the Vagos members.

At the end, when OG Loc says "like a quarter pounder" he may be referencing the McDonald's Quarter Pounder.

Failing this mission at any time without being wasted or busted in the progress will allow Carl to enter nearby
houses that normally are accessible only in Burglary missions, but once he exits the house he won't be allowed to
enter again. If doing this at Freddy's house, Carl will have a chance to enter it, or nearby houses. (Confirmed in
the early PC version, patched in later PC, mobile and re-mastered versions)

If Freddy is killed before reaching the basketball court, it is possible for all vehicles normally driving in the
streets to disappear, along with the motorcycle that the player was using. Parked vehicles will still appear, but
normal traffic won't resume until the mission is complete. OG Log will also be separated from the player,
causing the player to drive some distance away and get a message about leaving him behind (tested in PS4
version).

There is a way to kill Freddy early in the mission, if the player gets in an area where Freddy passes early he can
shoot him causing his bike to catch on fire killing him.

If the player manages to pull Freddy off his bike while on foot without killing him, the game will crash.

At the beginning of the chase, Freddy will stay still until you get close enough. During that time, Freddy cannot
be killed and the PCJ-600 he drives is bulletproof, fireproof, explosion proof, and damage proof. These effects
lasts for several seconds after he starts driving (where he does his 2nd turn after he drives through the alley).

However, in the remastered version, both Freddy and his bike are invincible all the time so the player can't do a
quick finish during the chase and can only be killed once he leaves his PCJ-600 at the basketball court.

Runing dog

For: Big Smoke

Location: Los Santos – Idlewood (Big Smokes house)
Conditions of mission failure:
 Wasted
 Busted
 Big Smoke dies
 Glendale destroyed
 Vago escapes
Unlocks: Wrong side of the track
Rewards: Respect

Carl goes to Smoke's house. Upon arriving there, he finds Officer Frank Tenpenny and
Officer Eddie Pulaski leaving. Smoke informs Carl that they are attempting to extract
information from him. Smoke tells CJ that his cousin, Mary is coming to the town from
Mexico and he's going to pick her up.

The two drive to a place to meet two Vagos gang members. After a short mixed Spanish
conversation, Smoke knocks one out using a baseball bat while the other runs away. Carl
manages to catch and kill him.

Objectives:
1. Get into Big Smoke's car.
2. Drive Big Smoke to the meet. If you need a weapon, go to Emmet's house.
3. Chase down the gang member.

While there's no monetary reward, the player can collect the dropped money after killing the Vagos member.

Big Smoke says his cousin is called "Mary", which is a reference to Mary Jane, slang for marijuana.

This is the only mission given by Big Smoke where Carl is not required to use a motorbike. (However, even
though he is required to use a yellow Sanchez in the next mission, he does not need to.)

During this mission, if Carl chases the target all the way, he will enter in a Sentinel with another member and
will attack if Carl gets close.

Gta San Andreas

If the Sentinel is destroyed or the driver is killed before he runs to it, he will just flee from the scene with a
random NPC scream, giving the player time to kill him.

If the target is killed while in sight of the Sentinel, after the mission is completed, the Sentinel driver will drive
the vehicle away rapidly.

The Sentinel is locked if the driver is waiting for the gangbanger in it. If the driver is killed by whatever reason,
Carl can enter the vehicle and it can be kept after killing the gangbanger, but it will lock itself if the player
simply gets out of the car.

The line the second Vagos member uses roughly translates to, "fuck you, bastard," and afterwards, "fuck your
mother, dickhead."

In this mission it's revealed that Big Smoke knows how to speak (some) Spanish.

Earlier during the game's development, this mission also required Carl to drive Smoke back home. CJ asked
Smoke about Tenpenny's visit at the start of the mission, which Smoke replied that he does not know who
Tenpenny is. It is speculated that part was cut because it was too strong foreshadowing to Smoke's betrayal. The
part can be seen in this video.

If the player fails the mission, and has over 50% fat, Carl will receive a phone call from Smoke shortly
afterwards, who tells Carl that he was "letting himself go" and needed to visit the Gym, and Carl sarcastically
declines his suggestion. This can be seen in this video.

This is the only time the interior of Big Smoke's house is seen (at least part of it). Outside of this cut-scene, if
managing to go through the building the interior will be absent, as it's scripted to spawn only in the cut-scene.

Wrong side of the truck

For: Big Smoke

Location: Los Santos – Idlewood (Big Smokes house)
Conditions of mission failure:
 Wasted
 Busted
 Big Smoke dies
 Train gets away
 Train enters Las Venturas
Unlocks: Just business
Rewards: Respect

Tenpenny and Pulaski are seen leaving Big Smoke's house by the garage. Carl arrives and
Smoke tells him that they have to go to the train at Unity Station.

When the pair arrive, Smoke explains that the Vagos and San Fierro Rifa are "cutting some
kind of deal," and intends to crash the meeting. However, it is actually an ambush and the
Vagos attempt to escape by train. Carl and Smoke use a Sanchez parked nearby, to chase
down the train to kill all four Vagos thugs, whilst avoiding obstacles such as; oncoming car
blocks and incoming trains going the opposite direction. If successful, Carl and Smoke will
have eliminated all Vagos before the train reaches the Frederick Bridge, connecting Los
Santos and Las Venturas. The two then clear the scene, and CJ takes Big Smoke back to his
house.

Objectives:
1. Drive to Unity Station.
2. Get on the motorbike with Big Smoke, chase down the Vagos gang members
and take them out!
3. Keep up with the front carriage of the train so Big Smoke can shoot the Vagos
gang members.
4. You left Big Smoke behind go get him! (if Big Smoke falls off the Sanchez.)

Gta San Andreas

5. Take Big Smoke back to his house.

If the player fails the mission by losing the train, Big Smoke will shout "All we had to do, was follow the damn
train, CJ!". This line became very famous among fans of the Grand Theft Auto series, to the point of becoming
an internet meme.

Even if the player kills the train driver before entering the red marker on Unity Station, the train will still depart
from the station during the cutscene.

In the open-world sandbox game Minecraft, there is a splash which reads "Follow the train, CJ!".

In the beta version, when chasing the train, CJ would complain that the bike wasn't built to take so much weight,
and claimed that people don't call Big Smoke BIG Smoke for nothing, to which he angrily replies that he was
born big, as seen in this video.

Also in the beta version, another objective would have been to retrieve a package from the dead Vagos, as seen
in this video.

This is one of the first missions to take Carl out of Los Santos and into Red County.

If the player abandons the Sanchez after killing the Vagos, it will still appear in the mission's final cutscene.

Strangely, if the player fails the mission just as the Vagos crosses the bridge and looks closely, the player will
see that the train will pass through a barrier as if it weren't there.

There is a scene in Rockstar's Manhunt with the same title.

This mission is referenced in the Gold-medal objectives for the Grand Theft Auto V mission Derailed, where the
player has to follow a train on a dirt bike. If they manage to land on top of the train on their first attempt, they
will achieve the "Better Than CJ" objective.

The name of the mission may be based on the phrase "the wrong side of the tracks", meaning a poor area of a
city.

If the player fails the mission within close proximity of the moving train, all of the Vagos on top of it will
become invisible. Their weapons will remain visible. The first three Vagos will be explosion-proof. The fourth
Vago is fully-immune, and can't be killed.

If the player manages to kill all the Vagos before the train hits the broken down Glendale, the car will not
explode when the train hits it as scripted and will simply be pushed away by the train.

It is possible for the second and fourth Vagos from the front of the train to mysteriously die, leaving only the
first and third to kill. If driving correctly, they can be killed before meeting the oncoming train in the tunnel. The
player can see their guns land on the tracks if looking back quick enough (tested in PS4 version).

Location: Los Santos – Idlewood (Big Smokes house)
Conditions of mission failure:

 Big Smoke dies
 Glendale destroyed
 BF-400 destroyed
Unlocks: Reuniting the families
Rewards: Respect

Carl drops by Big Smoke's house and finds him in the garage. They agree to take a ride
somewhere, as Smoke has business to take care of. They head to Commerce and Big Smoke
enters the Atrium. After a brief moment, a shootout is heard inside, and Carl quickly rushes
inside, protecting Smoke from attacking Russian Mafia goons. Once all of the Russians are
killed, the two hop on a BF-400 and attempt to escape. Carl acts as the shooter, killing as
many enemies as possible. On the way, they jump over the ramp of a Packer to escape a
roadblock, causing all of the Russians there to be obliterated in a huge explosion, however the
bike survives. After a long chase, Big Smoke rides through an alley in East Beach. The two
have lost all the Russians, agreeing to split up.

Objectives:
1. Take Big Smoke to Downtown.
2. Protect Big Smoke from the Russians.
3. Follow Big Smoke and protect him from the Russians.
4. Protect the bike from the Russians.

Gta San Andreas

The scene in the mission featuring a Packer jumping off a surface road in slow motion into a storm drain
channel, which Big Smoke and CJ are using to escape, is a nod to a similar scene in the 1991 film Terminator 2:
Judgment Day, where a large tow-truck (driven by a Terminator) executes a similar stunt as it is in pursuit of
John Connor (also riding a motorcycle). This scene was also featured in the second San Andreas trailer.

The woman CJ flirts with when he arrives at the Atrium bears a strong resemblance to Catherine Tramell from
the movie Basic Instinct.

The BF-400 in this mission has the license plate reading "IMY AK" (Similar to the Feltzer in End of the Line
and the Cheetah if the player buys it at the Easter Basin Docks).

The song at the start of the cutscene is "The Vapors" by Biz Markie. This song can also be heard on Playback
FM.

This is the only mission for Big Smoke that does not involve any Vagos.

The stunt jumps executed by Big Smoke in this mission will be included in the player's stats, even though Carl is
not driving.

This mission is similar to the TLAD mission Shifting Weight where Johnny shoots at the LCPD while on a
motorcycle and acting as the shooter (since Johnny's bike got destroyed before the chase).

When CJ and Big Smoke get onto the BF-400 to escape, the radio starts playing Radio X.

The player's SMG weapon slot is replaced with a Micro SMG when the gunfight begins, and once again when
the motorbike chase begins with an infinite ammo one.

Therefore, there is no point to save SMG ammo, as it will be reset to 80 after this mission.

During the bike chase, if the player activates a cheat to change the Micro SMG into either a Tec-9 or an SMG,
they'll not only be able to shoot with a different weapon, but will receive infinite ammo for the Micro SMG after
the mission is over.

Sound files suggest that CJ was supposed to enter the Atrium by player control instead of a cutscene, as the
mission's sound script has a few lines for Big Smoke such as "CJ, get in!" and "What took you so long?".

Home invasion

For: Ryder
Location: Los Santos – Ganton (Ryders house)
Conditions of mission failure:
 Wasted
 Busted
 Ryder dies
 Boxville destroyed
 Fuhrberger alerted before collecting 3 crates
 Time runs out
 Removing the ski mask
 Destroying too many crates
Unlocks: Catalyst
Rewards: Respect

Carl goes to see Ryder at his house. Carl walks into Ryder's backyard where he sees Ryder
digging holes all across the lawn. Ryder tells Carl that he's looking for the 'water' he buried.
Ryder then asks Carl to steal gun crates from a Vietnam War veteran named Colonel
Fuhrberger. Carl and Ryder decide to wait until nightfall, so they can break into his house
while he is asleep. When night arrives, Carl and Ryder get into a black Boxville parked
outside Ryder's house. The two drive over to the war veteran's house and Carl goes inside
while Ryder waits outside keeping guard. Carl sneaks through the house looking for gun
crates, trying not to wake Colonel Fuhrberger.

After retrieving at least three crates of guns, Carl heads back outside. Carl gets back into the
Boxville and he and Ryder drive over to a lockup in Willowfield. On the way, Carl tells Ryder
to give up the drugs, to which Ryder tells Carl that he will give up the 'water' if Carl gives up
being a buster. Carl tells Ryder that he's gonna wish he didn't piss him off one day. Carl and

Gta San Andreas

Ryder drive into the lock up and unload the van. Afterwards, they walk out and Ryder tells
Carl to get it in his head that this sort of stuff is 'everyday shit', before leaving.

Objectives:
1. Park the truck near the house and get the guns before daylight.
2. Enter the house.
3. Find a crate.
4. You need to steal at least 3 crates of guns.
5. You're making too much noise, you have to sneak! (only appears if the player
makes too much noise inside the house.)
6. Take the guns back to the truck.
7. Go and fetch another crate.
8. Go and fetch another crate.
9. Find a crate or get in the truck and go offload what you've already stashed.
10. Get safely back to the lockup.

If the player fails the mission (by firing a gun other than a silenced gun, making too much noise, etc.) before
collecting three crates, a cutscene shows Carl running out of the house, only to find that Ryder has abandoned
him and he is left with a two-star wanted level.

If at least three crates are collected before alerting Fuhrberger, then Ryder will tell the player that the police have
been alerted and Carl will receive a two-star wanted level.

Rarely if the player runs out of the house before the meter is full, the subtitle text of Fuhrberger snoring will be
seen. This even happens with subtitles off.

If the police are alerted after collecting three crates, the police car that appears in front of the Boxville has a
license plate that reads "TH3 PIGS" ("the pigs"), a slang term for the police.

Catalyst

For: Ryder
Location: Los Santos – Ganton (Ryders house)
Conditions of mission failure:
 Wasted
 Busted
 Ryder dies
 Picador destroyed
 Time runs out
Unlocks: Robbing uncle Sam
Rewards: Respect

Carl pays another visit to Ryder, who is making his own "water" (marijuana dipped in
embalming fluid and then laced with PCP) after he couldn't find the stash he buried in his
back yard. While Carl and Ryder are talking, Tenpenny and his accomplices walk into the
kitchen to inform the pair that there will be an army munitions train passing through East Los
Santos shortly, and that enemy gangs such as the Ballas and Vagos will attempt to rob the
cargo on board the freight train as well.

The two immediately depart, arriving at the train only to find the Vagos have ambushed the
train first and are attempting to offload munitions, while fighting the Grove Street Families.
Once the Vagos are eliminated, the Ballas turn up and attempt to take the train. Not wanting
to lose the munitions, Carl jumps onto the train. Ryder promptly jumps into the back of his
Picador, who waits with a GSF member driving behind the train, with Carl throwing some
Crates to him. After acquiring a sufficient amount of munitions crates, a three-star wanted
level is attained. They go to the nearby Pay 'n' Spray in Idlewood to evade the police, and
drive back to Ryder's home.

Gta San Andreas

Objectives:
1. Drive Ryder's truck to the ammo train.
2. Shoot the Vagos robbing the train.
3. Protect the train from the Ballas.
4. Climb onto the back of the train.
5. Toss the munitions boxes to Ryder.
6. Use the nearby pay 'n' spray to lose the cops.
7. Take the crates back to Grove Street.

The song heard in the pre-mission cutscene is "Fantastic Voyage" by Lakeside, which can also be heard on
Bounce FM.

The mission features similar objectives to the GTA Chinatown Wars mission Stealing the Show, as:

Both missions require the protagonist to throw crates onto a moving pickup truck from another moving vehicle.
The vehicles used to catch the cargo will be always filling up, but the vehicles originally carrying the cargo
never seemes to run out of crates.

However, Carl automatically dismounts from the vehicle while Huang must manually dismount. And in this
mission Carl attains an inevitable wanted level while Huang only needs to simply deliver the vehicle. In this
mission the target is 10 and the CW counterpart is 15. Also, explosive crates are only seen in this mission.

The explosive crates do not damage Ryder's vehicle.

If the player stops the car and gets out far enough away from the train, the player can use a Camera or a Sniper
Rifle to see the GSF and Vagos standing still near the train, not doing anything. However, if the player comes
close, they will open fire.

Carl can throw the boxes unrealistic distances. This is best seen when aiming towards the sky with max power.

If the player looks closely to the crates lying around the ambushed train scene, a picture of MP5K can be seen
drawn on top of the crates' lids, indicating that the crates contain MP5Ks. Oddly, only the standard variant of
MP5 actually exists in the game.

If the player jumps out of the car when reaching the train and the car stops far away from the train, Ryder will
leave the car, re-enter and drive the car next to the train.

The Ballas used a car that they do not use normally: A Greenwood.

This is the only time that a GSF member is seen using Dual Pistol.

The train is locked and cannot be taken.

If Carl fails to throw enough boxes, there will be no wanted level and he might be still in Ryder's truck after
failing the mission. The truck will always stop at Unity Station.

According to the documentary "Burn Motherfucker", about the 1992 LA Riots, the CIA in the 1980s used to
have trainloads of guns derailed in urban Los Angeles ghettos and it theorized that LA gang wars in the 1980s
helped the CIA fund the Contras in Central America. There are references to this in San Andreas by Mike
Toreno and this mission could possibly be a reference to these derailed trains containing guns that gang members
in South Central often stole crate loads of guns from and used them in street warfare

Carl goes to see Ryder in his back yard, who is smoking. He asks Carl why he, himself, didn't
finish high school. After Carl asks if it was because he dealt drugs since the age of ten, or if it
was because he attacked a teacher for wearing Ballas colors, Ryder responds that it's because
he is too intelligent. After asking Carl where they can attain guns, Ryder informs him that the
army has all of the guns.

Carl and Ryder get inside of a Mule (delivered by LB), and drive to the National Guard Depot
at the Ocean Docks. Once they arrive, they notice that the gate is closed. Carl climbs over the
wall and shoots the switch to open the gate. Ryder drives the Mule to a weapon's warehouse,
where Carl shoots the switch to open the door. Ryder stands guard as Carl collects six crates
of weaponry inside and around the warehouse using a Forklift. Once six crates have been
collected, Carl and Ryder escape from the National Guard, who pursue them in 2 Patriots.
They then drive back to LB's lockup in Willowfield.

Objectives:
1. Get in the van with Ryder.
2. Drive down to the compound at Ocean Docks.
3. Open the front gate by shooting the switch on the other side of the wall.
4. Shoot the switch to open the front gate.
5. Open the warehouse door by shooting the switch on the far side of the wall.
6. Shoot the switch to open the warehouse door.
7. Get in the forklift truck.
8. Load the crates onto the van.
9. Get in the van.
10. Head to the lock up in Willowfield.

In the beta, after this mission there would be an AK-47 available at Emmet's.[citation/verification needed]

The song heard in opening cutscene is "It Was A Good Day" by Ice Cube. This song can also be heard on Radio
Los Santos, however the cutscene utilizes the clean version of the song.

During the small cutscene of Ryder and Carl at the gate, a soldier is seen driving a Mesa with a unique color.
Like in the free roam, the Mesa will appear in two different variants.

The Mesa can be obtained by the player. After Carl kills the guards at the gate and eliminates the soldiers in the
warehouse, the player can steal the Military Mesa, and then drive back to a safehouse garage. Return to the depot
in order to complete or fail the mission, then check the car in the garage.

Rarely, when the player saves the Mesa in the garage and returns to the depot, Ryder will almost be killed during
the progress and his life bar will decrease on the way back to the Mule, causing the mission to fail, thus forcing
the player to restart the mission. Even exiting and re-entering the game after several minutes will not fix this
situation. This is most likely a glitch. It is not known what kind of in-game factor leads to this, however it may
not always happen. This situation is reported in the mobile version, mostly on the Android device. Other
versions still remain unknown. However finish loading the crates will cause Ryder to enter the truck and solders
stop spawning for a while before entering the truck and escaping, thus avoiding the glitch.

The color of the Mesa cannot be found at the mod garage (if the player has completed Cesar Vialpando before
triggering the mission), making the military green paint job unique in the game.

This mission is the only occasion where the army uses pistols and not M4s. This may have been done because
it's an early mission and the player doesn't have any powerful weapons yet.

This can also happen to soldiers that spawn on a six-star wanted level, but the frequency of them having a pistol
is rare.

At the end of the mission, the Mule will be explosion proof, likely to prevent the player from blowing it up with
the crates during the chase. It's unlocked and free to take, and it will still retain its feature.

The Forklift is bulletproof, this is likely done for balancing reasons, although Carl can destroy it by either
dumping it in the water or making it explode with any weapons but not a gun. The mission will fail and the game
will say "The Forklift Truck is history".

The mission will fail if the Forklift is destroyed even after loading up all the six required crates.

The vehicle can be obtained in a similar fashion to the Mesa.

Gta San Andreas

The crates can be destroyed by shooting, attacking, or running over them. They may contain pistols, micro-
SMGs, shotguns, grenades, health, or armor. However, if the player destroys too many of the crates, the mission
will fail unless Carl has already loaded up six crates.

The game pokes fun at itself during Carl and Ryder's conversation after the opening cutscene, when Carl
wonders how the truck suddenly appeared outside Ryder's house (as throughout the game, vehicles used in
missions suddenly appear in a similar fashion after the mission-assignment cutscene).

The Patriot are temporarily invincible and heavy the moment they exit their garages to chase Carl and Ryder.

If the player has the cheat "all cars have nitro" activated, the Patriot driver will flip his car.

Also, if the player uses the "health, armor and 250.000$" cheat while driving the truck to Emmet's, the truck's
back door will close, although some of Ryder's body parts will pass right through it and he's still able to throw
crates.

A bug will occur if the player shoots the two drivers who are in the Patriots in the head before driving the truck.
The Patriot will not move because of the dead drivers, but when Carl removes the Patriot from the camera and
then point it back to the Patriot, the car will start teleporting near the player and begin to follow until arriving at
the drop off location. This works on the PS2 and PC. Xbox is still unconfirmed.

If the player kills the co-passengers as well, steals one of the Patriots and parks them in a safehouse garage; the
Patriot will vanish as soon as the door closes. If the player goes back to Ocean Docks to retrieve Ryder, the
stolen Patriot will have teleported right back to the National Guard Depot.

The National Guard's Patriot can be kept after the mission by killing the driver or the passenger, then destroying
the Mule with a sub-machine gun while still in the Patriot, causing the mission to be failed. After the mission is
failed, drive the Patriot straight to a safehouse garage, save the game and the Patriot will be kept.

Uncle Sam (initials U.S.) is a common national personification of the American government.

High stakes low rider

For: Cesar Vialpando

Location: Los Santos – El Corona (Cesars house)
Conditions of mission failure:
 Wasted
 Busted
 Losing the race
 Race Car destroyed
 Race Car abandoned
Unlocks: Reuniting the families
Rewards: 1000$

Carl attains a lowrider car and drops by Cesar's house in El Corona. The two drive to the
street race's starting point near the Commerce district and race against four other cars. Carl
then traverses through the districts of the western part of Los Santos, before reaching the last
checkpoint in Santa Maria Beach. He wins the race and then earns a monetary reward.

Objectives:
1. Follow Cesar to the race start.
2. Win the race.

Gta San Andreas

During the drive to the race, Kendl Johnson's Beta model is used. The reason for this is because Kendl does not
usually appear outside of cutscenes and therefore does not have a regular gameplay model.

If the player loses the race, Kendl will call Carl and mock him for losing. A video of this can be seen here.

Two Majestics participate in the race, even though the Majestic is not a lowrider and the player themselves
cannot use one in the race.

At the starting line, the other lowriders are being driven by members of the Varrios Los Aztecas. Once the race
begins, however, the gang members are replaced by regular NPCs.

In the opening cutscene, the steering wheel in Cesar's vehicle turns when he moves it. This is the only time in the
game that this occurs, as all steering wheels remain static in regular gameplay.

Cesar's Savanna is Bullet/Fire/Explosion-proof; after winning the race and completing the mission, the player
can damage the car once it arrives at the finish line. At this point, Cesar will behave like a normal NPC by
exiting the car and fighting CJ back, unlike other instances of the game where storyline characters simply
disappear when a mission is completed. The player can scare Cesar away by attacking him with a firearm, and
then push the car back to a garage since it's locked.

Life is a beach

For: OG Loc
Location: Los Santos – Marina (Burger shot)
Conditions of mission failure:
 Wasted
 Busted
 Pony destroyed
 Failing to reach the target score
 Disturbing the party
Unlocks: Madd Doggs Rhymes
Rewards: Respect

Carl recently helped OG Loc by taking out a Vagos gang member who sexually abused him in
prison. Now working doing a menial cleaning job at Burger Shot, He is planning a house
party to gain recognition, but requires a sound system to amplify his tunes. A beach party is
occurring at the nearby Santa Maria Beach, and it so happens that they have a sound system in
the back of a Pony van.

Carl goes to the party, talks with the DJ, and attempts to gain access to the sound system. He
is challenged to a dance battle, scoring a minimum of 2500 points to pass. Once Carl has
successfully passed the challenge, the DJ invites Carl into her van, which she refers to as her
"office". Given the opportunity, Carl steals the van, throwing the DJ out and prompting two
Page 40 of 64
Gta San Andreas

party-goers to pursue the van in their cars. In the ensuing chaos, Carl manages to take the van
to a garage in Commerce, completing the mission.

Objectives:
1. Go to the beach party.
2. Get a score of 2500 or greater to gain access to the sound van.
3. Steal the sound van.
4. Get the van back to the garage.

The mission's name is a reference to the saying "life's a bitch".

The name of this mission also appears on signs advertising Little Haiti in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, where
the "EA" in "BEACH" has been written over with "IT" by a vandal, making it read "LIFE'S A BITCH".

The song playing during Carl's dance is "Hollywood Swinging" by Kool & the Gang, which can also be heard on
Bounce FM.

The song "Pretend We're Dead" by L7 always plays at the party when not doing the dance activity. This song can
also be heard on Radio X.

Deleted dialogue reveals that the garage used to store the sound van is owned by LB.

This is one of the four missions that cannot be completed if the player has used an excessive amount of cheats.
The other three are Burning Desire, Photo Opportunity, and Madd Dogg.

Most of the dancers are carrying MP5s. If the player fails the mission or kills them after the DJ bails out of the
sounds van, the dancers will drop their weapons once they are killed.

There is a cheat code with the same name of the mission.

During the cutscene, Loc says that the sound van is heading to Seville's beach. However, the party is occurring in
Santa Maria Beach. This is possible that in beta version the party occurred in Playa del Seville.

In the original PS2 version of the game, the player needed 4000 points to gain access to the van. In later
versions, the target is reduced to 2500 points.

Madd doggs rhymes

For: OG Loc
Location: Los Santos – Marina (Burger shot)
Conditions of mission failure:
 Wasted

Unlocks: Managment issuses, Burning desire
Rewards: Respect

Carl recently stole a load of music equipment for OG Loc's album release party, but it seems
that Loc can't rhyme if he doesn't have them to read off of. Loc asks CJ to assist him in
"borrowing" rhymes from famous rapper Madd Dogg.

Carl heads for Madd Dogg's Crib in Mulholland. He gains access, discovering that the home
is heavily guarded by Madd Dogg's security. Nonetheless, Carl, unable to use his weapons
apart from a knife, continues the infiltration and uses his stealth to make his way to the studio
room, stealing the rhyme book. He exits the mansion in the safest way possible, and heads
back to Burger Shot. Carl then meets Loc outside of the restaurant, giving him the rhyme
book.

Gta San Andreas

Objectives:
1. Go to Madd Dogg's Crib.
2. Get to the main door which is around the back of the mansion.
3. Madd Dogg's personal security are patrolling the mansion.
4. Do not use any guns on your way to the rhyme book or you will alert them.
Use stealth to steal the rhyme book.
5. Exit the mansion and get the rhyme book back to OG Loc.
6. It's safe to use your weapons now, although it may be less risky if you use
stealth to get past any guards on patrol.

The amplifiers in the studio have a Rockstar Games logo on them.

One of the guards playing a video game remarks, "How could Refractions mess up so bad?" and "Tanner, you
suck ass!" These are references to the poor reception of DRIV3R, which is considered a GTA Clone, where the
protagonist's name is Tanner, and the game is made by Reflections Interactive.

The upstairs levels of Madd Dogg's mansion (beyond the point where the rhyme book is) can be explored safely
as there are no guards. A silenced pistol can be found in a room with gold records on the walls (down the hall
from the studio), and two playable video games.

The male pedestrian in the beginning cutscene of this mission (who says "Yo! That shit sucks! Damn!") happens
to share the same model as the Ballas member who was smoking in The Introduction. He can also be seen
snorting coke with Jizzy B. along with his hoes and other associates in Ice Cold Killa. His name is Bogman, as
seen in the files.

The BradyGames Official Strategy Guide appears to have been written based upon an early version of the
mission, as it indicates that Carl needs to evade police who have been summoned by an alarm being triggered in
the mansion. No such event occurs in the final version of the mission.

The guard playing the video game looks like he is holding a controller, but is actually holding nothing.

According to some internal game files, the Skateboard was supposed to appear instead of the Mountain Bike.

During the opening cutscene both OG Loc and Carl look at themselves in a mirror, even though there is no
mirror in the bathroom.

The guards killed before Carl obtains the rhyme book will not drop their weapons.

Now, OG Loc has the technology and the ghostwritten lyrics to kickstart his rap career, but it
seems he isn't fully satisfied yet. It turns out he now needs somebody to manage his business.
He tries to get Madd Dogg's manager, Alan Crawford, to partner with him so he can get deals
in the industry, but Alan doesn't think too highly of Loc and wants to prevent him from
entering the music business. Loc suggests that the manager has outlived his usefulness and
must be killed.

Carl is told that Crawford is attending an awards ceremony at the Cathay Theater, which
happens to be only time he isn't with Madd Dogg. Carl then steals Alan's driver's vehicle and
meets up with the convoy before 22:00, making sure that the car is clean and pristine. Now in
the middle of the convoy, Carl holds his position, as the cars make their way to the awards
ceremony where Alan, along with a woman, will get into the vehicle. Surprised to find a new
driver, Alan is helpless as his new 'chauffeur' drives to a pier in Verona Beach, with Carl
bailing out just before the vehicle plunges into the water, killing Alan and everybody else in
the car.

Objectives:
1. One of Madd Dogg's manager's drivers is eating at the Burger Shot across
town
2. Damage the car to force the driver out
3. Get in the car
4. Go and meet up with the other drivers. Don't damage your car
5. Park your car facing the same way as the other cars
6. Keep in the middle of the two cars until you reach the awards ceremony
7. There is a pier to the South that you can dump the car off
8. Dump the car in the water but make sure no one sees you
9. Keep your speed up to the end of the pier then bail out
10. Bail out now

Carl goes to see OG Loc at Burger Shot in Marina, and sees Loc quitting his job as a janitor,
which is violating his parole. Loc tells Carl that he wants to have a big party before he goes
back into prison, as it may be his last chance 'to get heard'. Loc tells Carl to get ready for the
party and then to get some girls. Carl can then get some new clothes and a haircut while
waiting for the party to start.

Gta San Andreas

Later that day, Carl gets a call from Loc, who asks Carl if he's coming to the party. Carl tried
to get out of it but is persuaded to come over when Loc mentions that his microphone is
broken. Carl arrives at Loc's House to find him rapping his mediocre lyrics on a perfectly
functioning mic. Carl sees Ryder there, and the pair go outside, away from the obnoxious
sound of Loc's terrible music. Carl and Ryder bump into Sweet and other Grove Street
members. As they're talking, a Grove Street member rushes in on a bike, warning the gang of
an upcoming Ballas attack. The Grove Street gang gets ready to defend their hood by
blocking the road with some cars, while Ryder runs off to get more backup.

The Ballas arrive and a massive gang shootout occurs. After getting rid of the first set of
Ballas, more Ballas appear on top of the bridge above Grove Street, who are also killed by the
GSF. Another set of Ballas appears in the alleyway between Ryder's house and the Johnson
House and in Ryder's backyard. More Ballas appear from around the surrounding houses in
Grove Street, although Carl, Sweet, and the GSF successfully kill them all.

Upon celebrating their victory, the Grove Street members go back into Loc's house for the rest
of the party, to which Carl jokingly states that the party got started when Loc stopped rapping.

Objectives:
1. Defend your hood from the attackers
2. There are enemies on the bridge above
3. Help Sweet defend against the last of the enemies

During the mission, two fireproof and bulletproof Tahomas are used.

During the cutscene, Ryder mentions that the homies are at the back of the house, but the homies are actually at
the front.

After this mission, the area under control stat will start appearing even if the player has not completed the
mission Doberman.

A full version of OG Loc's rap is made available in the Forgotten Legends of West Coast Rap website. However,
some lines in the full version differ from the one rapped by OG Loc in the mission. The reason behind this could
be that it is officially recorded from a "rare demo session of OG Loc behind the mic while recording his debut
(and only) album".

Burning desire

For: C.R.A.S.H
Location: Los Santos – Market (Jims Sticky Ring)
Conditions of mission failure:
 Wasted
 Busted
 Denise dies
Unlocks: Gray imports, Doberman
Rewards: Denise Robinson as a Girlfriend

Carl enters the doughnut shop and is spotted by Frank Tenpenny, who tells him to come and
sit with them. Tenpenny and Pulaski act with hostility towards Carl, with Tenpenny
reminding him that C.R.A.S.H. owns him. Tenpenny then informs Carl of a 'gangbanging,
drug-pushing, cop-killing bitch' holed up in a building in East Los Santos that doesn't like
them. Tenpenny tells Carl that he wants the gangster dead.

Gta San Andreas

Carl first heads to an alleyway in Downtown to collect some molotov cocktails that
C.R.A.S.H. had left for him, before heading over to the building in East Los Santos. Carl kills
the Los Santos Vagos gangsters surrounding the building and then throws molotov cocktails
into five windows around the building. The 'holed up' man, a member of the Los Santos
Vagos runs out of the building, being badly burnt by the flames, he quickly dies from his
injuries.

Carl then hears a girl trapped inside. To rescue her, Carl enters the building and gets to the
upstairs bedroom she is trapped inside. Then using a fire extinguisher obtained from the
kitchen, he extinguishes the flames blocking their path, helping the girl escape the crumbling
building. The girl graciously thanks Carl, and asks him to bring her to her house. Once there,
she introduces herself as Denise Robinson, and both of them agree to go on a date in the
distant future.

Objectives:
1. Tenpenny has hidden some molotov cocktails in an alleyway in Downtown
Los Santos. Pick them up.
2. You've got some molotovs. Go to the gangster's house and torch it.
3. Torch the house. Throw molotovs into the 5 downstairs windows - that'll
make it burn.
4. You've trapped a girl inside the burning building. You'll have to save her.
5. Take the fire extinguisher upstairs and rescue the girl.
6. Drive the girl to her house.

While approaching the house, there is a Vagos member standing outside who appears to be talking on a cell
phone. Upon closer inspection (using a camera or sniper rifle), the gang member is actually holding a pistol
against his ear. This is likely a developer oversight.

Even if Carl already has Molotov Cocktails in his inventory before starting the mission, the game will still force
the player to collect them from the alleyway.

The interior of the doughnut shop says "Rusty Brown's Ring Donuts", even though the exterior of the building
says "Jim's Sticky Ring".

A Police Car will always spawn outside the doughnut shop after the opening cutscene ends. This vehicle can be
stolen without incurring a wanted level.

If the player fails the mission while inside the apartment without dying, after mission failure Carl can be seen
walking out of the house.

Gray imports

For: C.R.A.S.H
Location: Los Santos – Market (Jims Sticky Ring)
Conditions of mission failure:
 Wasted
 Busted
 Russian Gunrunner escapes
Unlocks: Reuniting the families
Rewards: None

Carl goes to Ocean Docks, where the Ballas and Russians are having a deal. He needs to get
in the office where the deal is taking place, so he fights through the Russians, all armed with
MP5s and Pistols, outside the factory, enters the warehouse by destroying the keypad, and
fights through more Russians and Ballas on the way to the office. He finds the office, where
two Ballas and the dealer are waiting for him. He kills the Ballas and follows the dealer, who

Gta San Andreas

runs outside, past many more Russians, and heads for a Banshee. Carl chases him on a PCJ-
600 and kills him.

Objectives:
1. Go to the docks where the Ballas and the Russians are making a deal.
2. The Russians and Ballas are having a meeting inside the warehouse. You will
have to find some way inside.
3. The meeting is taking place in the office at the back.
4. Take out the Russian arms dealer inside the office.
5. Kill the dealer.

During the mission, a Russian goon calls Carl Johnson "Amerikansky", but this is incorrect. In Russian,
"American" and "American man" are different words, so the right variant would be "Amerikanets". Also, the
degoratory word is "Amerikashka". A similar word, "Amerykań ski", is an adjective used in Polish.

If the player kills the dealer before he reaches the Banshee and is still far away from it, all the guards shooting at
them will disappear.

The dealer's Banshee is explosion-proof after he enters it to escape.

Also killing the dealer outside the Banshee will give a chance for Carl to collect some money from him.

If the player shoots the hooks holding the bunch of crates above the workers inside the warehouse, the crates will
fall on them, killing them.

The mission is similar to the first part of a chapter in Max Payne, With Rats and Oily Water, where Max also has
to kill many Russians in a warehouse by the docks.

If Carl follows the dealer in his Banshee for longer, he will ride out to Red County.

The interior of the warehouse looks very similar to two unused warehouse interiors (them being in the Hidden
Interiors Universe). They both have the same layout and the upper floors are the same. However, the unused
warehouses are very unfinished (especially the first one) and neither of them have the details (containers, barrels,
ect.) like the warehouse in the mission does. Both can be entered using the Ganton Gym glitch.

Unlocks: Los Sepulcros
Rewards: Respect, Ammu-Nation, Gang Warfare

Carl receives a phone call from Sweet who tells him to go to Ammu-Nation in Market to get
firearms and kill Little Weasel, a former Grove Street Families gang member who betrayed
them and went with the Ballas. The traitor is hiding in Glen Park. Carl then goes to Ammu-

Nation, gets armed with weapons and heads over to Glen Park. He then takes over Glen Park
by surviving three waves of attacks from the Ballas. Carl then finds Little Weasel, emerging
from his house, who claims that C.R.A.S.H. officer Frank Tenpenny set him up. CJ kills him
and Glen Park now belongs to Grove Street.

Objectives:
1. Go to Glen Park, Ballas territory and take it over.
2. Attack enemy gang members while on foot.
3. Survive the first wave of Ballas.
4. Survive the second wave of Ballas.
5. Survive the third wave of Ballas.
6. You have flushed the grass out, kill him.

 One of the directed Grove Street member dies before the shootout
 Admiral Destroyed
 Disturbing the funeral before Kane arrives.

Rewards: Respect

The Ballas are holding a funeral for Little Weasel (who Carl killed during Doberman), and,
according to Sweet, all of the Ballas OG's are going to be there. Carl recruits some gang
members to assist them, and they race to the cemetery before the funeral starts. Once there,
Sweet and the gang members will hop over the wall and tell Carl that it is clear, so Carl
follows. A cutscene will show Kane getting out of his car wearing body armor.

Carl kills Kane and the Ballas protecting him. Once Kane is dead, Sweet, Carl, and the
surviving Grove Street Family members drive back to Grove Street.

Objectives:
1. Get those gang members to join you. They respect you enough to provide
help.
2. Get in the car with your gang and take them to the funeral.
3. Climb over the wall and approach Sweet and his men.
4. Kill Kane, don't let him get away.
5. Kane's dead! Take out the rest of his men now.
6. Get in the car and drive Sweet back home.

The Ballas drive Admirals and Greenwoods in this mission, even though these are not their regular gang
vehicles.

Sweet refers to Little Weasel as one of the Ballas gangsters that Carl and Big Smoke had laid out. However,
Little Weasel was killed in Doberman, which Big Smoke does not appear in.

Los Sepulcros translates from Spanish to "The Burials".

If Carl receives a wanted level whilst attacking Kane, a police officer will spawn in the middle of the cemetery,
though he does not attempt to arrest Carl.

Originally if CJ doesn't have enough respect to recruit the members, Sweet will ask him to attack some Ballas
gang members to gain respect. This was later changed so that if CJ doesn't have enough respect, he can't start the
mission so the player will have to go killing gang members in free roam. The unused dialogue files can only be
accessed by starting this mission via a cheat menu.

The name of this mission was also likely to be the name for the cemetery, since a police radio file refers the
location.

Little Weasel's coffin can only be seen during the mission, after this mission his coffin will disappear, but the
hole where it actually is located will still be empty. This is probably an oversight from the game developers.

If the player damages Sweet's car enough to make it burn or incinerates it with Molotov Cocktails or
Flamethrower, the mission will fail and the message will say "Sweet's car is ablaze and he's too smart to get back
in!".

Gta San Andreas

The mission failure messages are very unique to this mission, such as: "The job isn't going to be any easier short-
handed!", "You wrecked Sweet's car and the job hasn't been done!", "Too late! Kane's in his own neighborhood!
It's not safe to continue the pursuit!", "Sweet's been killed! That wasn't part of the plan!", "You've started trouble
too early! Kane won't arrive now!" or "The funeral will be over! Kane's going to survive another day!".

After arriving to cemetery, after Sweet and his men jump over the wall, the player can destroy Sweet's car
without failing the mission.

Carl goes to Sweet's house and finds him with their close friends Ryder and Big Smoke. Once
he arrives, Sweet informs them about reuniting all the Grove Street sets once again because
the Seville Boulevard and Temple Drive Families have split from the gang and the Ballas
have been pushing drugs for too long. All the sets are supposed to meet at the Jefferson Motel.

The four get into Sweet's Greenwood outside and make their way to the motel. Upon arriving,
Sweet goes inside the motel by himself, and after a while a LSPD Police Maverick, Buzzard 1
appears. They interrupt the meeting and a shootout begins. Big Smoke and Ryder escape in
Sweet's car just before the SWAT team arrives in their Enforcers, but Carl enters the motel to
rescue Sweet. He makes his way through the hotel and eventually finds Sweet. When they
arrive on the roof, Buzzard 1 reappears; Carl shoots down the helicopter, and follows Sweet.
Just as they reach the street, Big Smoke and Ryder come to pick them up. Ryder hands Carl
an AK-47 as many police cars and bikes pursue them. Smoke drives around to escape, while
Carl fends off the police, but the AK-47 eventually gets jammed and the car, after narrowly
escaping a low-flying SAPD helicopter, crashes through a billboard advertising Sprunk. The
four bail out of the car as it plunges onto the freeway into a Xoomer fuel tanker truck, causing
a massive explosion. Believing the quartet have been killed in the explosion, the police call
off the search and the mission is completed.

Objections:
1. Get in the car and drive the crew to the meeting at the motel
2. Go inside the motel and get Sweet out of there safely
3. Protect Sweet and destroy the SWAT helicopter
4. Follow Sweet
5. Protect the car from the police

No matter what weapons CJ may have in his inventory, he is automatically equipped with a Shotgun when he
enters the motel. If the player has had the Combat Shotgun in their inventory before this mission, it will be
replaced by the normal Shotgun.

Also, upon completion, the player loses all their ammo for the assault rifle regardless of which type they were
using during the mission.

Upon the police helicopter's arrival and before entering the motel, CJ is free of police attention, which means he
can explore other islands and restricted areas without any repercussions.

However, this can be deactivated by turning on and then turning off the "Lock Wanted Level" cheat, where it is
possible to regain a wanted level. This is also the same for End of the Line.

In this mission, the SWAT officers use SMGs instead of Micro SMGs.

In this mission, the Police Maverick uses a scripted spotlight instead of the usual one. It is located in the middle
instead of the front, and is narrower.

If the player shoots down the helicopter while the SWAT are descending, the officers will be swung about and
disappear when the helicopter crashes.

When Carl and Sweet get in the Greenwood to escape, the radio will be tuned to Radio Los Santos and "How I
Could Just Kill A Man" by Cypress Hill will always play. In the Android version, "Murder Rap" by Above the
Law will play instead.

The police officers who jump onto and hang from the back of the car may be a reference to Terminator 2:
Judgment Day, in which a T-1000 disguised as a police officer jumps and hangs from the back of a car during a
chase scene.

The introduction of these aforementioned motor officers is a recreation of a shot from the 1997 movie Con Air.
The difference is, only the officer on the right drops a doughnut in the movie, opposed to both officers dropping
a doughnut each in this mission. The shot occurs at around 1 hour, 41 minutes and 17 seconds into the movie.

In the motel, there are 3 GSF members that can be seen fighting with the police. If the player comes close, the
member carrying an SMG will be shot in the head immediately and one of the remaining members dies soon
after.

In the motel, there will be a SWAT officer hanging from a vent and firing at Carl. If the player crouches and
stays still, the officer will not be able to hit Carl (and even if he does, his shots do little damage, as he mostly
fires above Carl's head). However, if Carl walks under him, he will take more damage.

The SWAT officer in the vent has his MP5's muzzle flash taken from the Police Maverick, instead of its normal
flash. Also, when fired, it makes the sound of the M4.

If the player does not follow Sweet after shooting down the police helicopter, the surrounding streets will be
completely empty.

The time in this mission is predetermined. For example, if the player is picked up by Smoke and Ryder in the
morning, it will change to night when Carl enters the car.

The music heard on the TV in the opening of the cutscene can also be heard in the Max Heat TV commercial in
Max Payne 2.

If Carl aims a gun at the GSF members at the entrance to the motel, they will attack him.

Inside the motel, the bullets of the NPCs (SWAT Officers, Groves, and Sweet) do not damage each other, but
can damage Carl.

If the player looks carefully, the second motor officer changes into the beta motor officer model after being
killed by the Police Maverick.

If the player fails the mission during the part where they shoot the police during the chase, Carl will jump out of
the Greenwood but the others will not.

This mission is similar to the actual Watts Truce in Los Angeles in 1992, which had some "sets" of the Crips,
which were having issues "set tripping" just like the factions which unite in this mission, and they draft a peace
treaty settling the differences around the time of the Rodney King riots.

Carl apparently fires the AK-47 from the Greenwood's roof, even though the Greenwood has no sunroof.

This can especially be seen by using the replay function on PC.

The police helicopter which appears near the end of the mission has a pilot who appears as a normal police
officer.

Before the Greenwood crashes through the billboard in the final cutscene, it reads 'A taste of things to come'.
After that, it is left with 'A taste of _________ come', referring to 'cum' (semen). This is another example of the
game's crude humor.

The three feuding families of the Grove Street Families have come together due to Carl's
efforts and Sweet decides to finally get back at the Ballas. Sweet also makes good with Carl
and calls him his running dog. He then orders everyone to get heated, and meet him under the
Mulholland Intersection.

Carl, however, is side-tracked on the way by a call from Cesar, who has some important news
for him. At first, Carl explains he is too busy to meet but Cesar is insistent, so Carl heads to
the meeting place under the freeway north of Verdant Bluffs to meet Cesar, who is inside a
Bravura with tinted windows. The two look ahead, as some Ballas exit a garage, followed by
Ryder and Big Smoke, and finally Officer Frank Tenpenny. Officer Pulaski then reverses a
car out of the garage, revealing the same green Sabre that was used in the drive-by in Grove
Street to kill Carl's mother.

Suddenly, Carl remembers about Sweet and realizes that Sweet and the rest of the Grove
Street Families are walking into a trap. But first, he orders Cesar to get Kendl to a safe place.
Carl races over to the underside of the Mulholland Intersection to prevent Sweet and the
homies from being killed.

Upon arriving, Carl sees a deadly shootout taking place. He also sees that Sweet has taken a
hit. Out of loyalty, Carl stays to hold off the Ballas hordes. Numerous Ballas members will
come and shoot at Carl and the rest of the gang. Carl holds them off until the police arrive,
causing the remaining Ballas and GSF homies to scatter. Refusing to leave his injured brother,
Carl surrenders to the LSPD.

After Carl gives up to the LSPD and is arrested with his brother, Sweet is taken into a prison
hospital upstate, while Carl leaves with C.R.A.S.H. and heads for the countryside. Tenpenny
explains what happened and what will happen. From now on, Carl will do what he wants him
to do. His first task is to eliminate a former cop hiding on Mount Chiliad being guarded by the
FBI.

Objections:
1. Get to where Cesar is waiting under the freeway
2. Get to the ambush before your brother is killed
3. Hold off the Ballas until the police arrive

No "Mission Passed" message appears after the mission in the original version of the game. In the remastered
version, this message appears.

The song that is playing inside Sweet's house is "Fuck wit Dre Day" by Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg, a song that
also can be heard on Radio Los Santos.

Despite the bridges between Los Santos and Red County, and San Fierro and Flint County reopening, no
vehicles will use them until Yay Ka-Boom-Boom, although there is one bridge located north of the Flint
Intersection (just north of the RS Haul) where some vehicles may occassionally be seen driving across.
However, only vehicles from the Red County side (especially the ones that spawn between the bridge and a
nearby T-Junction north of it) will drive across the bridge to get to Flint County.

It seems that Ryder wasn't originally planned to be present in this mission. According to the mission's dialogue,
CJ only notices Smoke and the C.R.A.S.H. officers pulling off the Green Sabre out of its garage, leaving Ryder
unnoticed (despite his clear presence on the scene). CJ didn't even mention Ryder's name while revealing
Smoke's betrayal to Sweet during the Mulholland Intersection shootout nor even Cesar mentioned his name in
King in Exile's cutscene, hinting that both CJ and Cesar weren't supposed to see Ryder in The Green Sabre
mission. The only first time the duo actually notice Ryder's betrayal is during the mission Photo Opportunity,
where CJ took a photo of Ryder after he was seen parking his Picador next to the Angel Pine Cluckin' Bell with a
Balla member waiting on the passenger seat, much to CJ's surprise.

The officers that show up during the cutscene after Carl kills all the Ballas point their pistols in a sideways
manner usually attributed to gang members. It is likely due to this being a scripted sequence, and not standard
free-roam officers. In real-life police forces, this type of stance is inaccurate and considered unprofessional.

Pulaski's mouth does not move when he says "We want you to do a little favor for us Carl".

The camera Pulaski hands to Carl in the final cutscene is a different model to the one obtainable in the game.

The Bravura that Cesar used to spy on Ryder, Big Smoke and C.R.A.S.H. cannot be damaged or moved by the
player, at least before getting inside that car. It is however possible to drive the Bravura following the cutscene.

In the beta, there is a small cutscene that plays between CJ eliminating all of the Ballas and the police arriving.
In the cutscene, CJ tells Sweet that he defended him because "he wasn't gonna lose another brother", and Sweet
weakly admits that he was wrong about Carl being a busta. The beta cutscene can be seen here.

The scene where CJ and Sweet are arrested while the other Grove St members run is inspired by the 1993 movie
Blood In Blood Out. In it, Miklo and Paco, two members of the Chicano street gang Vatos Locos (Crazy Guys)
get into a shootout with a rival gang and Miklo is wounded. After a police car chase Paco, Miklo and two other
members of the Vatos Locos crash the car and while the other two gang members flee the scene, Miklo and Paco
are arrested in a similar way to CJ and Sweet and the camera even pans up to an aerial shot. This scene can be
seen here.

Another striking similarity is that in San Andreas, while Miklo and Sweet were arrested and Sweet, much like
Miklo, went to prison respectively, Paco ended up joining the Marines and became a narcotics officer while Carl
ended up doing various jobs for the LSPD but was not sent to prison like Sweet was.

Countryside

CJ has stumbled onto something that is much bigger than himself. It appears that Grove Street
Family member and childhood friend Big Smoke is in an alliance with Tenpenny and helps
demolish the established influence and territory of the GSF (allowing the Ballas to take over
as the dominant gang in the city) in exchange for money and powerful connections. Tenpenny
warns CJ to stay away from Big Smoke otherwise Sweet, who was arrested, will suffer in
prison. Tenpenny has a few loose ends that need to be taken care of, and Carl takes care of
them, while trying to keep himself and his sister out of danger. Unknown to Tenpenny, Carl
attempts to gain money and connection with his sister's boyfriend's cousin, Catalina.

After the gunfight beneath the Mulholland Intersection that resulted in Sweet being injured
and taken into police custody; Carl is kidnapped and taken outside of Los Santos to begin
performing errands for C.R.A.S.H. The first of these tasks is a favor for Tenpenny, who tells
Carl to kill an ex-police officer being held by the FBI under a witness protection program.
The witness, who has compromising information about Tenpenny, is hiding in a remote cabin
located on Mount Chiliad. Carl, disarmed by the police, and carrying only a camera, is forced
to make his way up Mount Chiliad. He then flushes the witness out of the cabin, and chases
him down Mount Chiliad as he attempts to flee in a Washington. After Carl kills the witness,
he photographs the evidence that he will no longer be talking, and delivers it to a trailer in
Angel Pine.

After completing the mission in Angel Pine, the player will receive two phone calls in the first
succession. The first phone call is from Cesar Vialpando, who suggests Carl to locate an
unknown person who will protect him. The second is from Sweet, now held captive in a
prison hospital while receiving treatment for his gunshot wounds.

Objections:
1. Kill the witness! Bring back proof.
2. Make your way up the mountain to find that snitch.
3. He's inside, smoke him out!
4. Remember, you need a photo of him in one piece.
5. Photograph the body.
6. Take the camera to the drop.

Badlands is the first mission in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas requiring the use of a camera, and serves as
training in its use if the player isn't familiar with it.

The Washington that the witness drives has a unique San Fierro license plate that reads "ASSMAN".

This is one of a handful of missions where there is no scripted dialogue in gameplay.

If the player manages to destroy the Washington before the witness enters it, he will stand still in the cabin and
not move.

If the player lost the infinite camera received after The Green Sabre, they will receive a new one at the start of
this mission.

If the player somehow loses the camera during this mission, the mission will continue as normal until the player
sucessfully kills the target, when the game will tell the player to pick up a new one with 24 films at the drop
point.

FBI agents in this mission are different from the normal ones. They have much lower health, carry Micro SMG
insteads of MP5s and don't try to arrest the player if he has wanted stars. Also, they become neutral after the
witness escapes in the Washington.

Catalina is inside The Welcome Pump in Dillimore and is threatening two men with a knife.
Carl enters the room and explains to her that he is looking for a friend's cousin, who he
discovers is Catalina. The two leave The Welcome Pump and Catalina explains to Carl that
they are going to rob four locations across the county: a Gasso petrol station, an Inside Track
betting shop, a liquor store and a bank.

The song playing in the background cutscene is "Green River" by Creedence Clearwater Revival. The song is
also heard on the in-game station K-DST.

This mission, along with First Base, Gone Courting and Made In Heaven are considered to be along the
storylines of Bonnie and Clyde, who were also a couple on a robbery spree.

Carl tells Catalina that he's a "God fearing man" hinting he believes in God.
