(9, Lynchburg Health
‘o) & Rehabilitation Center
To Our Lynchburg Health & Rehabilitation Center Family
In these uncertain times, our goal is to provide our residents and their fai sand
representatives with factual information about our center and the care we are providing. In
furtherance of that mission, our letter today provides an update regarding our center and
the COVID-19 virus. On May 27, 2020 we had our first patient confirmed positive for the
virus. That patient remains in our center and is receiving care in a private room. In an
abundance of caution two additional patients are being tested, however only one is
displaying symptoms. Currently there are no staff members exhibiting symptoms. We are
continuing our frequent monitoring of both patients and staff and are asking staff to
immediately report any change in condition
While we progress through this national health crisis, our top priority remains the health of
our patients and staff. We are partnering closely with the Lynchburg Health Department to
inform them of any new developments, and we strictly follow their recommended protocols
for testing patients and staff. Of course, we will communicate with patients and families
directly regarding the outcomes of any individual tests if ordered
We continue to follow direction provided by the CDC, CMS, and the state and local health
departments. The following actions continue to be taken by the center to prevent and
control the spread of COVID-19:
+ Increased education on COVID-19 symptoms, infection controls, social distancing
and proper hand washing
Travel history screening for all employees
Employee temperature and symptom scanning prior to each shift
Visitation restriction
Coordination of all deliveries to one entrance, facilitated by staff members
Discontinuation of communal dining, congregate therapy and group activities
At a minimum of every eight hours we are monitoring resident temperatures and
symptoms including respiratory status
Please know, we are vigilantly observing your loved ones for any change that indicates a
need for medical testing or additional treatment, and we will contact you promptly. As
always, feel free to call our center if you have specific questions.
Thank you,
Andrew Shuler
