OBJECTIVES:
A. Cognitive objectives:
to check and improve the structure;
to make the difference between the present continuous uses
to give students more practice on pronunciation, vocabulary and the structures previously
taught.
B. Affective objectives:
making students confident in their ability to use the language;
creating interest in the topic of the lesson;
creating a relaxed atmosphere, proper for studying;
ANTICIPATED PROBLEMS:
T will offer Ss guidance in solving certain exercises if it is necessary;
T will offer Ss supplementary explanation in Romanian if it is necessary;
Some Ss might have problems when working in pairs or in group.
ASSESSMENT ACTIVITY:Ss will be assessed during class participation.

II. LEAD IN
AIMS: - to create interest in the topic; -to encourage Ss to speak freely; -to check and
improve pronunciation;
Activity 1: Start with an example: "I am going to Bali next summer". Ask Ss to underline
the verb and to name the tense. Ask Ss to tell you what is the Present Continuous used for.
Elicit: for actions happening now. Then, ask: "When am I going to Bali?" Elicit: next
summer. "Why did I use Present Continuous if the action isn't happening right now?"
TIMING: 5 MIN.

III. PRESENTATION
AIMS:-to introduce new structures; -to give students more practice on pronunciation,
vocabulary and the structures previously taught; to make the difference between the present
continuous uses
Activity 1: Explain Ss that we can sometimes use Present Continuous to express a definite
arrangement in the future. Read the text (page 36) and find other examples of Present
Continuous used for future. Give Ss some sentences and ask Ss to decide between present
continuous and present continuous for future. (ANNEX 1)
TIMING: 15 MIN.

IV. PRACTICE
AIMS: - to check and improve vocabulary, - to give students more practice on pronunciation,
vocabulary and the structures previously taught; to learn how to use the Present Continuous as
future;
Activity 1: The T gives Ss some worksheets to solve. (ANNEX 2; ANNEX 3)
TIMING: 15 MIN.
TECHNIQUES AND INTERACTION: T-Ss, Ss-Ss, dialogue, pairwork, exercise,
observation.
V. FREE PRACTICE
AIMS: - to create a relaxed atmosphere, proper for studying; - use these structures in the right
context; to talk about the plans they have for the future;
Activity 1: Imagine you are a famous movie star. What are you doing tomorrow? Each S draw 5
verbs and make up sentences about their arrangements.
TIMING: 8 MIN.
TECHNIQUES AND INTERACTION: T-Ss, Ss-Ss, explanation, game, observation,
teamwork.
I. EVALUATION
AIMS:- to check Ss understanding of the lesson; - to get a feed-back from the Ss.
Activity 1: The teacher announces the homework (ex. 1/47) and gives the students the explanations
on how to solve it.
TIME: 2 min.

I. Decide between present continuous and present continuous used for future:
a. Tom is reading a book and Emma is watching TV now.
b. I am buying a new handbag next week.
