The golden yellow Garuda is fluttering its wings proudly to the right. In his body
packed the five bases of Pancasila. Amid a shield which means a fortress of philosophical
endurance, a thick line stretches meaning the equator, which is the geographical symbol of
Indonesia. His two sturdy legs were firmly gripped by the Indonesian motto "Bhinneka
Tunggal Ika" which means "Different, But Still One".
Garuda is a brave symbol in defending the territory, but he will respect other
territories even if they belong to smaller birds. The golden yellow symbolizes a great nation
and has a true priyagung spirit. Garuda Birds which also has a very loyal nature to the
obligations in accordance with the nation's culture that is lived down for generations. Garuda
birds also never back down and never give up.
The success of the Indonesian nation in achieving its ideals of becoming a united
and sovereign independent nation on August 17, 1945, was contained in the symbol of
Garuda. The 17 strands of feathers on its wings stretching dashing symbolize the 17th day
of Indonesian independence, 8 strands of feathers on its tail symbolizing August, and the 45
strands of feather on its neck symbolized 1945 as the year of Indonesian independence.

independence (17 August 1945), including:
• The number of feathers on each wing is 17
• The number of feathers on the tail is 8

• The number of feathers on the neck is 45

The shield is a symbol of Indonesia's national defense. The shield image is divided
into five parts: the background section is divided into four intermittent red and white
(red and white symbolizes the color of the Indonesian national flag, red means bold
and white means holy), and a small miniature shield of a large colored shield black is
right in the middle. The horizontal straight line dividing the shield draws the equator
that crosses Indonesia in the middle.
c. Single Star
1st Precepts: Godhead of the One. The black shield with a five-headed gold star
depicts the major religions in Indonesia, Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, and
also the secular ideology of socialism.

e. Banyan Tree
3rd Precept: Indonesian Unity. The banyan tree (Ficus benjamina) is an Indonesian
tree rooted in support - a single, long root that supports the large tree by growing very
deep into the ground. This illustrates the unity of Indonesia. This tree also has many
roots hanging from its branches. This illustrates Indonesia as a unitary state but has
different cultural roots.

clothing and food) are the basic needs of every Indonesian society regardless of their
status or position. This illustrates social equality where there is no social disparity with
each other, but this does not mean that the Indonesian state uses communism
ideology.

The ribbon which was gripped by the eagle bearing the Indonesian state motto,
Bhinneka Tunggal Ika. Bhinneka Tunggal Ika is derived from an Old Javanese
sentence written by Mpu Tantular which means "Even though it is different but still one"
which describes the condition of the Indonesian people which consists of various ethnic
groups, cultures, customs, beliefs, but still is one nation, language , and motherland.
