Making Indie films for promoting the Philippine Culture

Independent films “Indie films” are becoming famous especially in the Philippines.
Independent films are mostly recognize by their content, style and the creativity of the ideas.
These kind of films are usually produced by the local producers and it get recognize
internationally for its beautiful content. In this way, it help the country to promote the beauty of
its culture and traditions. The less production that it have, the more people appreciate and
recognize the importance of this kinds of film that help to uplift the country.
Independent films “Indie films” shows realistic actions that disrespect and violated
the law in the Philippines. According to Peta Asia (2017) controversial dog-slaughter  was
happened. The production bought the first dog, and the owner, in his excitement to deliver the
dog and receive his payment, tied the dog in a sack and unknowingly killed him by
suffocation .The production, bent on shooting the scene which apparently was in the script,
bought another dog for butchering. Whether or not the scene was intentionally staged or the dogs
were coincidentally slaughtered at the location of the filming, the fact remains that killing dogs is
illegal in the Philippines under RA 8485. Instead of recording the dogs’ slow deaths following a
beating, this cruelty could and should have been prevented. The film that were made raising
awareness but it become a disappointment, when the animals were paying the consequence. The
Philippine film industry are debating on the mainstream films vs indie films. Philippine Primer
(2017) supporters and filmmakers of both teams would always have their own stereotypes as to
what kind of films they like and produce. Team Mainstream would say that indie films are
nothing but deep and artsy productions that only a few can understand. Team Indie, on the other
hand, would say that mainstream films are meatless, profit-oriented films that only aim to
entertain the audience, and nothing more.
I’m in favor of making indie film to promote the culture of the Philippines. Because
of its own beauty and creativity this will help the country to be recognize. It shows all the small
details that a viewers didn’t have saw to any films. Philippines films especially indie films
promotes also all the good, potential and local producers and directors that don’t yet have name
in the industry.
Independent films are being recognize internationally. According to the When In
Manila(2015) Philippine cinema has received another international milestone as Zig
Dulay’s Bambanti won Best Film at the inaugural Festival International du Film de Bruxelles
(Brussels International Festival of Films); and the Golden Elephant Best Actor award for Micko
Laurente at the Asian Panorama of the 19th International Children’s Film Festival India (ICFFI).
This film shows the culture of the Bambanti Festival in Isabela. The Independent films are giving
real life issue that the Philippines experience and also the same as the people. This is just one of
the many plotlines local independent films have bent towards over the past several years. The
Guidon (2017) today, what we know as the “indie film” has changed. While indie films of the
years have often been viewed as “highly intellectual” or “pretentious” for its depth and
ambiguity, today’s Filipino indie films have broken out of these conventional notions, delving
into more relatable topics such as romance, national history and identity, body image, and
everyday struggles.
In making Independent films “Indie films” to promote the Philippine culture helps the
country to be recognize internationally that contain realistic life situation that the country
experience.
Independent films make a huge impact in the Philippine films, since there are now good
producers that contributing in the industry. This films provide the realistic creativity that are
being recognize and be known internationally. In this industry, it became a big break now to the
Philippines from the quality of the film, content down to the people in the production.
