MAXICONCEPTS DISTRIBUTION TRANSFORMERS

MaxiConcepts distribution transformers are essential in providing the final voltage transformation in the
electric power distribution system, stepping down the voltage used in the distribution lines to the level used by
the customer.

MaxiConcepts’s distribution transformers are three-

phases or single phase designed and manufactured in-
house and are available in rating up to 5MVA with rated
nominal voltages up to 33kV.

Our Transformers are designed to meet all the necessary

requirements:
o SANS 780-2003
o IEC
o Eskom transformer specifications

The vast range of our distribution transformers are safe

and reliable to be installed closer to users in :
o Farmyards
o Pumping stations
o Railways electrified with AC
o Substations for towns, industrial areas, shopping Three phase transformers for pole mounting being collected
centres, mining
o Power collector networks of wind farms

Environment, Health & Safety and Reliability
MaxiConcepts offers distribution transformers that are
safe to work with , in regards to personnel safety
whether during manufacturing or installation and
commissioning by using PCB free transformer mineral
oil, reducing noise level and transformer size whereas
the environmental impact is minimised due to the
improvement of performance criteria during design and
manufacturing processes.

Unless otherwise requested by our customers, our

design team makes use of 2 standard types of cores in
our transformers. Jencore and Mitred Oval Core which 16kVA 33kV/240V single phase Sealed Transformers
have the following benefits:

o Flexibility of design
o Unrestricted core size
o Smaller and lighter
o Lower watt loss
o Lower exciting current
o Better regulation
o Less winding time needed
o Quicker to assemble

Standard Transformer Accessories & Fittings
MaxiConcepts distribution transformers are equipped
with fittings making our transformers easy to handle,
install and commission.

The followings are standard fittings:

o Rating and terminal marking plate
o Earthing terminals
o Lifting Lugs
o Drain valves (if applicable)
o Silica gel dehydrating breather (if applicable)
o Oil Level Indicator (if applicable)
Dry Type Rectifier Transformers
o Thermometer Pockets
o Jacking pads (depending on sizes)

Mineral Oil Purification Plant

Optional fittings can be adapted to our standard fittings but
not limited i.e.:

o Winding temperature indicator

o Oil temperature indicator
o Gas and oil actuated (Buchholz) relay
o Shut off valve between conservator and tank.
o Magnetic oil level gauge
o Skid under base with haulage holes 1.6MVA 2.2kV/550V Tank being manufactured
o Marshalling box
o Cable boxes

Testing Process
To guarantee our customers are satisfied, every
distribution transformer undergoes routine tests
performed in our in house testing bay, utilizing
equipment which is SABS compliant.

The following routine tests are done in our

factory:
o Measurement of insulation resistance
o Measurement of winding resistance
o Measurement of voltage ratio and phase
displacement
o Measurement of short circuit impedance and
load loss
o Measurement of no-load loss and current

o Separate source voltage test
o Induced overvoltage test
o Measurement of paint thickness
o Test for effective of sealing

The above routine tests ensure that only

accurately designed manufactured and tested
transformers are delivered to our customers.

Every Transformer will be supplied with a test

certificate validating all the above test results.

and dry type transformers which have been
