THIS YEARS THEME
The primary advocacy of the NCR-SL’s 14th Regional Convention is
Emergency Preparedness. This is a response to the recent natural
disasters that have been occurring in the Philippines for the past years.
Emergency preparedness and Rescue and survival are necessary skills
that we believe all future physicians must foster. “Facta, non verba” is
Latin for “Deeds, not words” and can be interpreted as “Actions speak
louder than words”.

This statement aligns with our theme and will be the method of
instruction for our breakout sessions where we will have participants
take part in practical exercises geared towards Emergency
Preparedness and Rescue and Survival.
HIGHLIGHTS FROM LAST YEAR
Yugto: the 13th Regional Convention branded last
2018 as the Medical Students Summit, introduced
to medical students the importance of embracing
traditions in the medical field whilst not closing
our views to the pioneering innovations. It gave
the community a foresight of what is to come next
and insights regarding the contemporary issues
that the Philippine Health Care System are facing.
WHAT TO EXPECT
For this year, aside from the 6 breakout
sessions related to this years theme of
emergency preparedness, rescue, and survival
and plenary activities that are set up for the
participants, the annual Interscholastic
Medical Debate Competition will be integrated
to this years conference.

The IMDC is a debate tournament that creates

an avenue for medical students to discuss
issues in the society and the Philippine Health
Care System.

A total of 22 Medical schools, with a target of

400 medical students are expected to attend
this years regional convention and IMDC.
SPEAKERS AND FACILITATORS
In emergency situations, one must be
prepared and knowledgeable in what
to do – quick on their feet and snap
decisions are what is needed.

For the breakout sessions, there will be

9 trainers – who are experts on
Emergency Preparedness and search
and rescue.

For the plenary sessions, there will be 2

Plenary speakers, and a few more for
adhoc sessions.
ATTENDEES
For this year’s Regional
Convention, a total of 500
attendees - delegates,
students, and volunteers from
the 20 different Medical
Colleges affiliated with the
APMC – SN NCR SL are
expected to be present.
