METHOD STATEMENT

HARD LANDSCAPING WORKS

Scope of Work : This Method statement provides the control sequence of

construction and methodology that will be used for Hard landscaping work in
order to achieve compliance with the BOQ pages & approved Shop drawings

Equipments & Materials:

As per approved MAR,

 Hard landscaping (All works as per BOQ):

 Pavements
 Coping
 Walls
 Seats

 Rubber mallet.
 Shovel.
 Straight Edge.
 Sprit Level
 Plum bob. & All other masonry tools
Measuring Device:

Equipments:
 Mixer machine
 Hand cutting machine.

Personal Protective Equipment:

The basic P.P.E will be provided as

 Safety Shoes
 Safety Helmets
 Hand Gloves
 Goggles

Procedure Site made Setting Mortar: Mix and proportion cementitious materials for site
made leveling coats, setting beds & grout.

Grout: Mix and proportion grout material in accordance with

manufacturers recommendations.

Prior to installing, ensure surfaces are level.

Ensure surfaces are clean and well cured, and sloped to drains where drains are provided.

Do not commence work until surface conditions are within tolerances required for proper
installation; apply leveling material where necessary to meet required tolerances.

Clean stone before setting by thoroughly scrubbing with fiber brushes followed by
thorough sponging with clear water; use only mild cleaning compounds that contain no
caustic or harsh fillers or abrasives.

Prepare Portland Cement Setting Bed in mix 1:3:

Thoroughly clean sub floor and moisten without soaking.

Apply Portland cement mortar setting bed to proper line and tamp firmly.

Setting bed shall be of uniform 25mm to 40mm thick nominal thickness.

Apply setting bed over areas no greater than can be covered while setting bed remains
plastic.

Trowel or brush thin layer, 1mm to 1.5mm thickness, of cement paste over setting bed.

Apply stone in place and beat firmly into straight, uniform joints.

Bring surfaces to true level at proper elevation.

Complete beating and leveling within one hour of setting; wipe clean with soft
damp cloth

After completion of work, point open joints and replace defective work.

Clean surfaces free of foreign matter upon completion of grouting.

Use clean water and stiff bristle fiber brushes.

Do not use wire brushes, acid type-cleaning agents, cleaning compounds with caustic or
harsh fillers, or other materials or methods, which could damage stone.

If other finishing trades are involved, we recommend that the installation be

covered in heavy-duty polythene for protection against soiling and damage.
However, the covered hard landscaping should be ventilated to prevent an
excessive build-up of moisture.

Safety

 A safety induction talk will be conducted prior to commencement of works.

 Akar supervisor will be having regular visits to ensure the safe working
environment
 All safety aids (Helmet, Safety shoes, safety Belt etc) to be carried
along with the people who are all working at the site.
