COVID-19 outbreak is likely to have a major economic impact on all industries. With
business impacted, cases of job losses or loss of income are likely to rise. A timely
financial assistance scheme has been designed under the Global Indian
International School (“GIIS”) called the Resilience Scholarship (GRS 2020), to allow
students studying in any international school in Japan cope with the Covid-19 impact.
The GRS 2020 allows children of Covid-19 affected families to have a seamless &
uninterrupted education at GIIS.
It is designed to assist deserving students from families whose members may have
suffered substantial loss to their monthly income due to Covid-19 resulting in a
financial setback, threatening to cause disruptions to the academic life of the
student.
The loss should be more than 20% of their family monthly income.
GIIS Resilience 2020 scholarship is also designed to support students who are
deserving of this means scholarship for an equal opportunity through financial
assistance.
Scholarship Amount will vary up to a maximum of JPY 415000 p.a and will be dependent on
the parents’ Gross Annual Income* or Gross Monthly income* at the time of application.
CRITERIA TO APPLY
A. The total tenure for the GIIS Resilience 2020 scholarship is 2 academic years.
However the scholarship will be initially offered for one academic year and the
scholarship for the 2nd academic year will be subject to satisfactory review of
documents confirming compliance to the terms and conditions of these
scholarships.
B. The scholarship will be applicable from 1st July 2020 and expire with
termination of the applicable Academic year.
C. The scholarship will be valid for all students of Nursery to Grade 12, and
GMP/IB/IGCSE/CBSE/PYP curriculum.
D. The grade-wise pre scholarship Academic Year 20-21 fees are available at:

E. The scholarship amount is calculated as a percentage of the course fees only
and is not applicable on one time registration fees (discounted registration
fees), transport/bus fees, uniform and misc fees.
F. All figures exclude Consumption Tax.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Following are the Terms and Conditions for the GIIS Resilience Scholarship (GRS2020)
2020:
A. The GRS2020 is valid for periods during the Covid-19 situation.
B. The GRS2020 is applicable to parents who were gainfully employed or
self-employed in Tokyo and Parents on Leave of Absence would not be eligible.
C. The GRS2020 can be availed for a maximum of 2 children per family.
D. The GRS2020 will be applicable for
a. either a maximum of two Academic years (April 2020 to Mar 2021) OR
b. till the point the parent regains employment or
c. the business of self-employed has resumed or
d. There is reversal of loss of income, whichever is earlier.
E. If the parent continues to be without employment or not self-employed, then
the applicant student’s parent has to submit a signed declaration at each
time of fees billing within the initial 5 days to confirm the status of parents’
employment or unemployment to avail the benefit. The applicant parent
availing the benefit of this scheme would be liable to inform the school’s
finance department immediately once the parent has reached an
employment or income status that puts the applicant student to be in the
non-eligible category.
F. Any misuse of these benefits derived due to wrongful misrepresentations
would be deemed to be violation of scholarship rules.
G. The GRS2020 will be subject to local tax laws and any taxes applicable shall be
borne by the applicant parent.
H. The GRS2020 is a benefit for applicants studying at GIIS campuses only and
cannot be converted to cash benefit or be transferable if the child changes
school.
I. The GRS2020 amount will be refunded to the applicable at the end of each
term.
J. The GRS2020 will be awarded at the sole discretion of the GIIS Scholarship
Management Committee. In the event of any dispute, the decision of the
committee will be final and binding.
K. Once Approved, the GRS2020 assistance would be effective from 1st July 2020
or from the last day of termination or job loss or loss of income, whichever is
later. This allows parents who may experience such Covid-19 impact even after
the 15th June 2020.
L. Any parent who has already resigned prior to Covid-19 and or are serving
notice period shall not be eligible for this scheme.
M. Please note that it is mandatory to produce supporting documents to apply
for the scheme.
