GLOBAL WARMING

The constant warming of our atmosphere, pertained to as Global Warming, is

one of the most fearful issues that we are facing today. Global Warming has terrible
effects which resulted to damages not just to humans but also to other organisms.
There are certain reasons for this kind of phenomenon, but there are also a number of
positive actions that could solve this phenomenon.

Global Warming has been dealt by environmentalists due to its serious threat to
the society. For several years, greenhouse gases have accumulated in the atmosphere
causing the global temperature to rise uncontrollably. These greenhouse gases are
usually emitted from burning of fuels in transportation, agricultural production, industrial
factories, and powerplants. In addition, human activites which contribute to the polluting
of the air in commercial and residential areas have also become one of the major
causes of this phenomenon.

On the other hand, it is not too late for us to combat Global Warming. There are
several ways to restore the atmosphere's undestructed state. One of which is the
reforestation which contributes to the reducing of carbon in the air. This means that
millions of trees could possibly eliminate air pollution, as well. In addition, human
activities can contibute to the reduction of fuels burned by means of a healthy lifestyle
and responsible actions towards the environment.

In conclusion, we must take this issue seriously. Not just the government
agencies and environmental advocates should do the immediate action of saving our
atmosphere from the harms of Global Warming, but ordinary people like us must also
take part in reducing the greenhouse gases being spread in the atmosphere.

STRESS-RELATED PROBLEMS

Living in a fast-paced world means living as if we are combatting time. If we are

to compare the lives and the community a long time ago, we can probably conclude that
a lot of thing just happened without even knowing what really provoked it to happen--
Societal norms have changed making these more convenient to the inhabitants of
specific community; Gender role has becoming more flexible than usual; Education
makes itself an entitlement, that if you cannot afford it, you have a lesser opportunity to
survive; Theological beliefs are evolving leading to compromises; Social connections
are getting more complex making both people and animal experiment on how to better
satisfy themselves. The environment gets more problematic as it faces a lot of
ecological problems. Generally, these uncontrollable changes that happen in one’s own
environment, make the lives of people more complicated. These incomprehensible
problems and inevitable adjustments paved way for the conception of the word ‘stress.’

Stress, as elaborated by Lazarus and Folkman (1984), is an internal state which

can be caused by physical demands of body or by environmental and social situations
which are evaluated as potentially harmful, uncontrollable or exceeding our resources
for coping. To put it simply, stress is a mental state that happens every time we
encounter a specific situation which we think is too much for us to bear. Stress hampers
us to think clearly, function effectively and enjoy life. It is because it makes our
resilience to hold up pressure thinner and thinner. However, even how much we long for
a stress-free life, we cannot prevent stresses from coming on our ways. As a matter of
fact, we face stress from time to time because the world that we live in today is not the
simple and smooth world our ancestors have lived centuries ago. A lot of stressors, or
those that trigger stress, are out there. We can find them in our home, school, and
workplace. Technology can also stress us. Even the people whom we are closely
associated with, they can become the source of our stresses. Stressors are like dust in
the wind. We cannot perfectly avoid them but we can wipe them out if we wish.

Basically, to know the root of our stress can help us figure out our measures to
address it. If we do not know where our enemy is coming from, we cannot send them

back. When we already know the cause of our discomfort, the next thing we can do is to
reflect on the exact feelings we felt the moment we encounter the stressor and respond
appropriately, so we won’t be able to commit mistakes which we might regret thereafter.
Avoiding unnecessary stress can also help us. This means, let us not get ourselves be
stressed over things we cannot control. This is similar to abstaining from overthinking.
Another things is, avoiding toxic people and saying no to too much responsibility will
make our lives easy to deal with. In case of our work schedule, planning ahead of time
and keeping with us a schedule journal might prevent us from panicking and cramming,
which are also forms of stress. When we feel like we’re about to burst out, being honest
with our feelings and acknowledging that we need help and support will lighten the
situation.

Not all stress, meanwhile, is harmful. If we give time to understand the bigger
picture, or just the product after all, we will realize that somehow, stress initiates positive
reappraisal on things and demonstration of virtues such as self-control, patience and
hard work. On the other hand, if this is not managed properly, the collateral is a
negative perspective and a serious mental state of an individual.
