Change

By: Angela Mañalang Gloria

A poem where the author speaks, structured with a rhyme scheme of abab and a
consistent syllable count of 10, that shows the image of her outgrowing her innocent days. She
denotes these loves that she once had as something that had touch her life in different ways and
duration but still these were things that she got over with, it directs how she will get over the
dream-like love she is trying to let go of. In the second stanza, she is determined that her feelings
will change unwaveringly. That connotates the phrase of this jeweled ecstasy for something new
as she wavers her feelings to hold on to the past and reach for the new.
The poem gives out a sense of hope and anticipation that the love she feels will also flee
like the others she had mentioned, while speaks about the experience of the author with the
things that she had to let go to grow. Used a Number of Imagery by interpreting how or what
happens, Metaphor in the Golden Calf giving it other meaning than it is meant. Hyperbole in
burned my days.
