This book was a collection of works created by artists, architects, and designers. All the works are made

speci ically for wild and domesticated animals and also insects. Lots of the work serves a purpose that

could include integrating pets into family life, helping endangered species, and bringing nature into a

community. Some common themes throughout the book were improper tanks for ish. Those tanks are

very pretty to look at however the ish being kept in them won’t live long. Fish care is often

misunderstood but I had higher hopes for a book like this. Another common thing throughout the book

was design, as I continued to read a lot of the designs seem very similar and repetitive. Overall the book

showcased lots of unique creative works once you sift through the repetitive design.

“ Dogs” is a show that follows the stories of individual pet dogs. The dogs showcased in the episodes I

watched help their owners whether it be medically or emotionally. In the irst episode viewers are

shown the story of a dog that helps a young girl with epilepsy. The second episode we see a refugee

ighting to get his dog, his companion, across the border. Although this was a fascinating show it did not

really inform me on any of the information that I was hoping for. I did not really learn anything in terms

of my project.

This article is a short explanation for a piece completed for a competition known as “Architecture For

Dogs”. This project was built and designed by a team of 11 different architects and the blueprints are

available for free online. The team believes in bringing dogs to eye level of humans not only to include

the dogs but to put less stress on the dogs spines and neck. Dogs spend most of their time looking up at
their owners which as one might guess is not good for them. Thus we have a team of architects who

take a liking to dogs trying to make it common practice to have furniture for dogs to climb on to be eye

level with their owners.
