According to Pornwasin A.

, Juthasree Kuvinihckul, a co-founder and director of GrabTaxi in

Thailand said that "One of our aims is to cut costs and increase sales, our system looks after the
taxi industry's ecosystem — the taxi owner, the driver and the rider. The system helps taxi
owners and taxi drivers cut costs and increase overall revenue, as they don't have to travel
around or find a fare towards a traffic jam, and now they have a choice to pick up the nearest
passengers. Furthermore, pace, safety and security are our promises to deliver to the
passengers at all times.”

How does GrabTaxi works?

According to GrabTaxi, both supply (taxi fleet and drivers) and demand (passengers) are using
fast, cost-effective mobile-based technology. The current taxi driver has to register with
GrabTaxi to be part of the service, pass a background check, and bring a mobile device /
smartphone with the GrabTaxi app installed. There may be some drivers at this stage who do
not own a smart device but want to work on the GrabTaxi platform; the company is helping
them through microfinancing smart devices, where payments would be deducted from monthly
installments. At the end of the customers, passengers would need to download, register and
create their own profiles, the GrabTaxi program. When customers have successfully registered
and wish to book a taxi, they simply trigger the application and the system will show all
available taxis automatically on the online map from within a specified range. Customers must
then enter their desired destination to complete their reservation, and with less than a minute,
their booking confirmation will be sent to them, along with the driver's name and contact
details, vehicle registration number and estimation of arrival time.

According to a Social Impact Report by a team from the University of Cambridge Judge Business
School MBA programme, Grab, the leading ride-hailing app in Southeast Asia, has created
positive social impact for Jakartan drivers and passengers. According to Ridzki Kramadibrata,
"The report shows that Jakartans think ride-hailing apps such as Grab are greatly enhancing
their lives. Jakartans are worried about concerns such as overloading or waiting times and Grab
is pleased to be able to solve these problems for our passengers. Grab launched as a taxi-hailing
app in June 2012 and has since introduced many transportation options, such as cars and bikes.
The report highlights the confidence that Grab drivers and passengers have in the Grab app's
reliability and the value we offer in terms of quality rides and better driver profits. It's
heartening encouragement when we are celebrating our fourth anniversary.”
