WHAT IS BLOOD?
 Blood is a Connective Tissue which circulates in
fluid form in the body.

 It transport different substances in our body.

 The average human adult has more than 5
liters of blood.

PLASMA:

ØIt consist of 90% water which dissolves and transport

organic and inorganic molecules.

ØPlasma contains 10% dissolved solutes.

RED BLOOD CORPUSCLES:

ØRed Blood Cells (RBCs) also called Erythrocytes.

ØIn Mammals these are circular disc like biconcave.
ØNucleus absent.
ØMature RBCs is a bag of Haemoglobin.
Function:
ØOxygen transport.

WHITE BLOOD CORPUSCLES:

ØWhite Blood Cells (WBCs) also called Leucocytes.

ØThese are colourless, irregular in shape.
ØNucleus Present.
ØThese are of different types each of which plays a
unique role.
PLATELETS:

ØPlatelets are fragments of large cells.

Function:
ØIt plays important role in clotting of blood.

ACTIVITY:
BLOOD GROUPS:
ØThe two special proteins called Antigens A and Antigens
B present on the surface of RBCs, human blood divided
into four groups called ABO blood groups.

Rh FACTOR
ØAnother factor of blood grouping is Rh factor.
ØIf your blood does contains the protein your blood is
said to be Rh positive (+ve).
Ø If your blood does not contains the protein your blood
is said to be Rh negative (-ve).
Rh FACTOR DIVISIONS
Ø On the basis of Rh factor blood group divided into
following:
 Blood is a type of fluid connective tissues.
 Blood is divided into three components i.e
Plasma, Corpuscles and Fragments.
 RBCs, WBCs are Corpuscles and
Platelets are Fragments.
 Blood Divided into two systems i.e ABO & Rh
factor.
