Sports Mash-Up: Gliding Bubble Soccer

Object of the Game:

This sport is a combination of bubble soccer and roller blading with a beach ball and is named

gliding bubble soccer. The object of gliding bubble soccer is to score more goals than the

opposing team in the time frame of 90 minutes. Each game is split into 2 halves, each one being

45 minutes with a 15-minute break in between referred to as half time. The idea is to kick a

soccer ball around to your teammates and score goals at the others team net… but wearing roller

skates and using a beach ball.

Players and Equipment:

This team sport is played with 2 teams, each time consisting of 11 players. To play, the

equipment you will need is your bubble, a beach ball, and roller skates. Every teams bubble must

be a different color, so the athletes are able to differentiate between their team and their

opponents.

Safety Precautions:

Players are required to keep their bubbles on as they are competing as a shield if they fall. They

must also wear shin guards in case another player accidentally kicks their leg as they are playing.

Positions:

There are many positions that can be played in gliding bubble soccer such as goal keeper, right

and left fullback, center back, defenders, right and left wing, midfielder, and striker. These
positions are designed to offer both offense and defense for each time and guarantees a

suspenseful and competitive game!

Scoring:

To properly score a goal, you must fully get the beach ball past the goal keeper and into the net.

You can score goals with your legs and bubble and cannot take your arms out of the bubble and

attempt to touch the ball with your hands.

Location and Details of Field:

Gliding bubble soccer is generally played outdoors. The field dimensions are approximately 120

yards long and 75 yards wide. The goal itself consists of a frame measuring 8 feet high as well as

8 feet wide.

Rules of Gliding Bubble Soccer:

~ You may skate to the opponents and tackle them with your bubble as long as you do not kick

them with your skates. Failure to follow this rule and injuring the other team will result in a free

kick or foul depending on the seriousness of the injury.

~ Each time cannot have more than 11 players, 1 of them being the goalkeeper. The goal keeper

is not allowed out of the goalie box or the opponents’ goalie will be given the opportunity to take

a free kick for his team.

~ If a time attempts to rig the ball to their advantage somehow, they will be disqualified. The

beach ball must be completely spherical and be pumped up.

~Each time can substitute players whenever they deem necessary as long as the referee is aware

a sub is coming in.

~If the game ends in a tie, 5 minutes overtime will be given. If no team wins, it will be a draw.
