Activity 1:
* Introduce themselves.

Warm Up / Introduction
T. will greet the class and take attendance. T will introduce himself/herself and hand out a small piece of paper
where each student will write his/her name.( (teacher provides the paper – or prints out name tag file
attached) T. will make sure the classroom is a LOW ANXIETY environment for all students. Ss will be seated in a
circle.

Names A to Z: This activity is good for introductions and for practicing the alphabet. It is good for a new group
of students and for the class where you have just a few new students or a new teacher.
Language: What is your name? – My name’s ___. / My name’s ___. – What is your name?
Procedures:
1. T will model the language by asking for a volunteer or playing both parts.
3. Then students line up in the alphabetical order (A to Z). If there isn’t enough room in the classroom students
can form a circle.
(If you have a Small class and have extra time, have them walk around the room and introduce each other to
other people in a “mingle” activity, while the T walks around and monitors the Ss.)

Activity 2:

Alphabet:
T. will write the alphabet in BIG letters on the board, one at a time. Every time a new letter is introduced T.
pronounces and ask the Ss to repeat.
T. will have to explain when to use upper case letters and lower case letters. B/b (Brian /banana)
LETTER RECOGNITION ACTIVITY: Ss will listen to the pronunciation of a word (the teacher is pronouncing) and
the students will write what letter the think it starts with. Ex:

NUMBERS:
T will write the numbers 1-10 on the board and elicit pronunciation from students. T will write correct spelling
of the numbers and practice pronunciation with Ss. (If Ss show previous knowledge, go up to 20)
T. will check for their listening skills and play “Listen and Write” game:
Then ask Ss to come up with some for other students and work with a partner.

Introductions:
T. will write “introductions” on the board and write questions /chunks we use when introducing ourselves. T.
will also demonstrate how to introduce somebody else.
Ex:
To a third person.
(You can use your hands as puppets to play the other 2 people while modeling to the class. Old socks make
great puppets!!!)
Groups of 3
Ss will role play an imaginary introduction. (Ss can pretend to be someone famous like Beyonce, Bruno Mars
etc.)

T. will use the “Facebook page” as an example to explain what the words “interest (hobby), music, activities,
birthday etc. mean.
T starts by presenting his or her “Facebook page” and writes useful language on the board then Ss present it to
a partner, then T asks for volunteers to present it to the whole class.

Wrap Up
Go over the day, by asking different Comprehension Checking Questions touching on everything seen in class
today.
Ex. Show some fingers, and elicit from Ss what number is this?
Write a letter on the board, and see if the Ss can say the sound.
Etc.
