STUCK AT HOME BECAUSE OF A DEADLY VIRUS

Hi guys! My name is Steve, I am thirteen and I live in the suburbs of London in a small terraced house
with my parents, Garett and Kate and my two sisters Ann, seven and my other little sister Sue who is two.
Mum stopped sending us to school a few days ago and the government decided to close all schools in the
UK last Friday. But why?Well, like millions of people in the world we are stuck at home to help slow down
the transmission of that deadly virus: the Covid -19 which attacks people’s lungs, also called Corona virus
because it looks like a crown ,bloody crown I would say. It all started in a city in China, Wuhan in
December 2019 from some bats and pangolins on a market. Then,they decided total confinement
there, but because of all the means of transport and people travelling it has slowly spread all through the entire
world with countries more or less concerned.

¡ATRAPADOS EN CASA POR UN VIRUS MORTAL Hola chicos! Mi nombre es Steve, tengo trece años y vivo
en los suburbios de Londres en una pequeña casa adosada con mis padres, Garett y Kate y mis dos hermanas
Ann, siete y mi otra hermana pequeña Sue que tiene dos años. Mamá dejó de enviarnos a la escuela hace unos
días y el gobierno decidió cerrar todas las escuelas en el Reino Unido el viernes pasado. Pero, ¿por qué?
Bueno, al igual que millones de personas en el mundo estamos atrapados en casa para ayudar a frenar la
transmisión de ese virus mortal: el Covid -19 que ataca los pulmones de la gente, también llamado virus Corona
porque parece una corona, corona sangrienta diría. Todo comenzó en una ciudad de China, Wuhan en
diciembre de 2019 de algunos murciélagos y pangolines en un mercado. entonces, decidieron el confinamiento
total allí, pero debido a todos los medios de transporte y personas que viajan se ha extendido lentamente por
todo el mundo con los países más o menos preocupados.

At first we were asked to wash our hands regularly, to cough in our elbows and respect distances between
people, but people didn’t really realize the threat, so in Europe the situation got terrible in Italy first where total
confinement was decided followed by Spain, France etc.So now we must all stay at home as much as possible,
teachers send us work thanks to the internet, when it works!!!!

Al principio nos pedían que nos laváramos las manos regularmente, que tosiéramos en los codos y que
respetáramos las distancias entre las personas, pero la gente no se dio cuenta de la amenaza. Así que ahora
todos debemos permanecer en casa tanto como sea posible, los profesores nos envían trabajo gracias a
Internet, ¡cuando funciona!

Then we play games (video games or board games) we read, we watch TV or listen to music. Mum is working
from home as well, but Dad, has to go to work as he is a doctor in the Royal Brompton Hospital in London!He is
getting very worried because he sees more and more ill people, and this illness is very dangerous for elderly
and fragile ones. Thank God, we have a little back garden, because staying all confined can be scary
sometimes, especially when my little sister Sue starts crying.

Luego jugamos juegos (videojuegos o juegos de mesa) leemos, vemos la televisión o escuchamos música.
Mamá también trabaja desde casa, pero papá, ¡tiene que ir a trabajar como médico en el Hospital Royal
Brompton de Londres! Se está preocupando mucho porque ve cada vez más gente enferma, y esta enfermedad
es muy peligrosa para los ancianos y frágiles. Gracias a Dios, tenemos un pequeño jardín trasero, porque
permanecer confinado a veces puede dar miedo, especialmente cuando mi hermana pequeña Sue comienza a
llorar.

I can’t imagine how people manage in small flats in big buildings. But as Dad says, I am afraid this is what we all
have to do if we want to slow down the propagation of that virus and save as many lives as possible. So take
care of yourselves and your dear ones!!And don’t forget to thank doctors and nurses for all their work!!!!!

No puedo imaginar cómo la gente se las arregla en apartamentos pequeños en edificios grandes. Pero como
dice papá, me temo que esto es lo que todos tenemos que hacer si queremos frenar la propagación del virus y
salvar tantas vidas como sea posible. ¡Así que cuidad de vosotros mismos y de vuestros seres queridos!! ¡Y no
olvidéis dar las gracias a los médicos y a las enfermeras por todo su trabajo!
