I had the chance of reading Mr. Kaify's book “Aik Gair Matbuaa Kitab” in Urdu for
which I had commented that it’s a thought provoking book.
I am happy to learn that its English version is being published under the title: "The
Unpublished Book".
Mr. Fakhruddin Kaify is a seasoned and competent journalist/author. This book
contains interesting and entertaining material and is well worth reading.
I wish Mr. Kaify success in this and future endeavors.

KAIFY’S “THE ‘UNPUBLISHED’ BOOK!” is an excellent example of precise writing.

After describing short interesting lessons or stories, certain meaningful questions
have been raised by the author, like an unseen passage, as usually given in English
Paper ‘B’ of examination to judge the language standard of the students.
These lessons and questions are an artful combination of satire and humor. The
reader not only laughs but is also compelled to think. This unique art is the
outcome of keen sense of observation and command over the language to project
the issues in an acceptable and delightful manner, which the author is endowed
with. The Author’s deep knowledge about the history, politics and understanding
of prevailing society and rich exposure to the language shows how comfortably he
writes. These memorable write-ups reflect sincerity of intention and ingenuity of
the mind of the writer, who does not deliberately create the humorous situations.

Mr. Kaify’s "The ‘Unpublished’ Book" provides a series of structured lessons

enabling the readers to explore experiences on humanity and religion. It suggests
guidelines in religious and ethical categories to bring about a caring society. It is
clear that the author has little tolerance for the so called champions of Islam and
those sitting on the helm of the country's affairs! Kaify’s book is disciplined, well
founded and is evident that he is all out to clear the muddle in the educational
institutions. Thus the book should be given a serious thought for its inclusion in
the school syllabus.
“The Unpublished Book” invites the readers not only to read about moral
education but to confront the process itself by a series of questions after each
lesson. It is an excellent book, not only for children but for adults too who have
forgotten the moral values of the preaching of Islam in its true essence!
This book is strongly recommended to anyone really trying to get a hand on
morality.

We have stopped thinking! Yes individually and collectively, and don’t even think
over about the daily life problems. What a good saying is that “ignorance is
blessing”, and as a nation we are very well blessed. One thing is for sure that Kaify
is not blessed with this quality of Ignorance.
I am honored that Kaify chose me, to read the “The ‘Un published’ Book” and
comment on it.
I have found this book written in a unique way. It starts with a Preliminary Test.
The reader is asked to answer a few questions and only those who fail to answer
would be eligible to read the book.
As we move on from the PRELIMINARY TEST to the book itself we can see how a
story is picked and on the bases of that story our daily problems are discussed.
The Questions asked after every story invites the reader to think over and to
answer on the bases of conscience and logic and on top of that, by remaining in
limits of religion and moral parameter.
This book is read by my Kids too, and seeing their face expressions, while reading,
I can say that they got the message. However they expressed their fear that the
book might be censored or banned by publication department to which I asked
them not to worry as there are none left who can understand the satire or read
the “in between the lines”.
Thanks ….Kaify,….. for such a nice Book.

The book “The ‘unpublished’ Book” by Fakhrudin Kaify reminds me of the day in
May, 2010 when for the first time I met with Mr. Fakhrudin Kaify in the teacher’s
room at University of East, Hyderabad. I was working there as visiting Lecturer,
teaching English to the students of BBA. We started our communication with
introduction, and then the discussion carried on from the topic of CSS to the
problems prevailing in Pakistan. The discussion was very constructive and thought
provoking and I was left with many new questions gyrating in my mind. Mr. Kaify
made me look at the situation of our country in a very new perspective and the
discussion went so long and so interesting that I just didn’t feel like ending it up.
The book “The ‘unpublished’ Book” written by Mr. Fakhruddin Kaify produced the
same feelings in me that I felt around two years ago. The lessons of the book are
very interesting, constructive and above all thought provoking. They make a
common reader see things from a different perspective. The lessons and above all
the questions after it trigger new thought in the mind.

The format of the book i.e. the lessons and then the questions give a very
objective look and are reader-oriented. Each lesson leaves the reader with
questions in mind thus making him/her aware of multi-faceted aspect of events.

In the last, I would like to thank Mr. Kaify for giving me this opportunity to edit
the book and I have tried my best to give my due attention and honesty to it. I
hope this translated book by Mr. Kaify himself, with a little effort done on my part
will prove fruitful and produce positive response from the readers.

Translator’s Note of Caution
(Thanks to Almighty, the translator and the author are same)

Chinese Premier Chu en lai was addressing in Chinese and his speech
was being translated in English. The translator committed a mistake
in translating, which would have not been noticed but the Premier
stopped and corrected the translation.

Translation is a very difficult task, particularly if the original work is in URDU. Re

writing in English is quite strenuous because thinking in Urdu and writing in
English sometimes create confusion. To be honest, it is not between Urdu and
English only but between any two languages. Every language has its own taste
and value in presenting Humour and Satire, and cannot be reproduced in other
language in the same spirit. The word ‘value’ reminds me of translated signs in
English, seen at different places other than English speaking countries.
The following are very appropriate examples of thinking in one language and
presenting it in English.
1. In Paris, a hotel exhibits a sign that reads “leave your values at the counter
before going to room”.
2. At a laundry shop in Bangkok, one can enjoy reading “for the best results drop
your Trousers here”.
3. Any English man would avoid having water in Acapulco Restaurant after
reading “The Manager has personally passed all waters served here”.
4. A hair- raising suggestion is seen in Zurich’s Hotel “Because of the impropriety
of entertaining guests of opposite sex in rooms, it is suggested to use the lobby
for the purpose.
5. And this will make one understand the difficulties a translator would have
faced in Norway, by presenting this translation, “Ladies are requested not to
have children in the Bar.”
David Mathews the famous translator of Urdu into English rightly wrote, “The
greatest difficulty presented to the translator of humor and satire is that so many
of the jokes involve puns and clever word –play. These are often impossible to

13
render meaningfully in other language”.
To this I would add that particularly the equivocal words and verses used in Urdu
cannot be translated impressively in English.
Therefore I have avoided translating such phrases or verses and instead I have
rephrased them with appropriate variations.

Author’s Declaration about the English Version
I have no hesitation in declaring that it is the FIRST BOOK OF Urdu written in
English. The English used, is neither American nor British, but it’s Pakistani.
English Literary Society is therefore advised not to criticize my Grammar,
Composition or Spellings. If they can tolerate American English they can ignore
mine as well.
I have strong reasons for this advice.
Americans spell Humor whereas British write Humour; it won’t make any
difference if one writes Humur. (Be sure Pakistanis do not commit such blunders).
Americans, while driving, keep to the RIGHT, British keep to the LEFT. Pakistanis
do not care for right or left; they believe where there is a will there is a way.
English is a strange language where the FEET SMELLS and NOSE RUNS; those
eating vegetables are VEGETARIANS but cannibals are not HUMANITARIANS.
If language is not made an issue I am sure I will be conferred with Knighthood as
well as Nobel Prize for literature. If Salman Rushdie is given Knighthood for his
absurd book in which abusive language contrary to decent literature is used, why I
should be deprived of being known as SIR FAKHRUDDIN KAIFY.
I am awarded or not, I do not care, because in the University where I teach, all the
Students, the Professors and the Management call me “SIR KAIFY”.

An Open Letter

30th October, 2012

The Ministry of Education,

The Chairman, Higher Education Commission,
The Vice Chancellors of All the Universities of Pakistan,
The Chairman, Pakistan Text Book Board.

Sirs,

Keeping in view your commitments and priorities, very briefly, this is to remind
you that about 40 years back, the eminent Urdu writer/poet Ibn-e-Inshaa wrote a
book “The Last Book of Urdu”. He requested Mr. Mir Naseem Mehmood, the then
Chairman, West Pakistan Text Book Board to include this book in the syllabus/
Curriculum for schools and colleges. Unfortunately his humble request was
turned down on a fake assumption that the book would distract their students
from other 566 books included in curriculum.
It is experienced that Mr. Naseem Mehmood’s presumption proved absolutely
erroneous because even though the book was not included, the new generation is
distracted - not only from the text books but from each and every book. It would
not be wrong to admit that unfortunately during these years our new generation
has not only abandoned reading habits but parted from Islamic teachings and its
practices too.
It was a blessing that Mr. Inshaa published his book for the general public, and
some of the youngsters like me (40 years back) got a chance to read it. The book
treated various issues quite creatively and by the Grace of Almighty all who read
it are true Pakistani and practicing Muslims, who believe and respect ethics and
moral values. Better late than never, it is to put forward that I have also written a
book containing 45 Lessons and after each lesson questions are asked as a food
for thought.
If the same mistake, committed by Mr. Naseem Mehmood is not repeated, I
assure you that my book would help students in understanding Islam, creating

16
patriotism and building up their characters. It is therefore requested to include
the book in the curriculum for universities and colleges and rectify the wrong
doings of the past.

Presently, the book is being published for the public in general. If the decision is
delayed, then the possibility is that not only student but the teachers would also
be deprived of teaching this book and many a people might lose a chance to go
through this thought provoking book.
Though the books included in the syllabus are also part of literature but inclusion
of this book would undoubtedly compel them to be benefitted by some of its
lessons.

Looking forward to your early response,

I remain,

Yours truly

Fakhruddin Kaify

P.S. Though I have drafted this letter, but I am afraid to post it. I am uncertain
whether the authorities would read it. I am not a prominent figure as Mr. Inshaa
was that the authorities would even bother to open my letter. Secondly, during
Inshaa’s era there was one province, “West Pakistan”, whereas presently we are
having four provinces, each having its own curriculum. In such situation one
approval would be insufficient. As mentioned earlier, I am including this letter in
the book with a hope that it might draw attention of the Government so much so
that I would have to arrange for the second edition to fulfill the demand. There is
no harm in wishing - but it is also true that if wishes were horses beggar would
ride.

17
The Author’s Confession
(Acknowledgement)
Eminent writer/Poet, Ibn-e-Insha parodied some of the lessons taken from
primary classes’ text books. Through these parodies, he tried to draw the
attention of the nation towards the atrocities and corruption prevailing in our
country. Apart from whether the nation got his message or not, I was inspired by
these articles so much so that decided to write something in the same style. I do
admit that adopting Inshaa’s style was not a child’s game but there was no harm
in trying. Afterwards the question arose as what to write.
Inshaa had chosen the primary Text book for his parodies. I made up my mind to
incorporate my more than 50 years’ experience. I took the folk stories narrated by
grannies, parents, uncles and aunts during my life time; turned jokes into short
stories and in doing so I tried to high light the horseplay of politicians &
government officials.
While selecting stories, whether real or imaginary, I preferred to choose
interesting, and entertaining ones. Besides, I was keen to have stories that were
of great help in stimulating the characters of the political, social, and religious and
government officials. I have not focused on any particular topic while selecting
stories. Whatever came to my knowledge I developed that into a story. However I
excluded indecency and obscenity.
Every story, happening or joke, whether heard or read, I have reproduced that in
my own words. My efforts proved fruitful and I managed to have sufficient
material for the book.
The title of the book “The last book of Urdu” by Insha created a problem for me.
Customarily, in our literary society, juniors do not supersede their seniors. As
Inshaa‘s book was named Last book, I did not like to produce a book after the Last
One. Therefore, I decided to name it “The ‘UNPUBLISHED’ book”, but my
conscience was continuously pinching me. It rightly argued that when a book is
published, how it can be called “unpublished”. I tried to satisfy my conscience
that the word unpublished would be in inverted commas, but it remained
dissatisfied. I tried to appease the ongoing agony in my mind with a lame excuse. I
18
reminded my inner self that in New York there was a multistoried building
without 13th floor. After 12th floor we were on 14th floor. You did not object
there, why to question now. This worked well and my inner self was satisfied.
Note: At the end of each lesson a few questions are asked to judge the student.
These Questions, whether answered or not, are more important than the lesson.

19
FOREWARD
Ever since I was a child I have been interested in everything but study. I loved
poetry, politics, drama and games etc.; I was a jack of all trades but master of
none. For some time I was interested in boxing too. I joined a boxing club. One
day my father learnt about my new activity. Sarcastically he advised me that if my
objective is to become a gangster or a street fighter or goonda, I should be a no.1.
So I quit boxing but continued with poetry. A significant number of verses were
on my account but fortunately or unfortunately my collection was lost and I was
left with no choice other than to quit poetry as well because despite my all
efforts, I was unable to rewrite all the lost verses. After this loss, my interest in
poetry dwindled and since then I do not usually write poems/ verses but
occasionally I do come up with one or two verses.
After completing my education a new era began; I joined a firm, got married and
raised my family. Life became tough and all hobbies were abandoned.
Though I had left political activities too but the foolish adventurism, of the
Dictator, Pervez Musharraf drew my attention and forced me to write columns for
newspapers. The main subjects which influenced my columns included
Musharraf’s surrender to the phone call of General Powell, dismissal of the Chief
justice of Pakistan and above all the humiliation of Dr. A. Qadeer Khan by
compelling him to apologize, publically for the sin committed by others.
Handing over of Pakistani citizens to USA, which he admitted in his book “In the
line of Fire” also, triggered my hate for him and his policies. More over his
introduction of Modern Islam in the name of so called Enlightened Modernization
and denial of fundamentals of Islam was enough to harm Islam so much so that
Muslims started considering themselves as “Non fundamentalist”. The supreme
irony is that the fundamental of every religion is based on Peace and Harmony. It
teaches us to respect and be respected. The fundamentals of Islam in particular
teach to safe guard the life and the properties of others and strongly denounce
hate, terrorism and violence. It’s a pity that due to Pervez Musharraf’s policies
Muslims are made responsible for 9/11 disaster, whereas professors of 75
American Universities have provided sufficient proofs that suggest that
responsibility of 9/11 solely laid on America herself.
20
Coming back to my literary career, I began by writing articles in English. After
writing I used to email it to my friends. Though I did not receive any positive
feedback from my friends but these articles turned out to be a sort of catharsis
for me. Later on I started writing in Urdu also which took the shape of ‘The
“UNPUBLISHED” Book’ about which I had already discussed in “The Author’s
Confession”.

Here I take the opportunity to emphasize that the Questions asked at the end of
every lesson are more important than the lessons.

Fakhruddin Kaify

Lesson No. 1. The Fundamentalist
A company introduced software and placed it for display in an exhibition of
computers. The Software Company claimed that by installing their software, one
could ask any question and get the correct answer. Among the visitors was the
president of the country. Being a very witty person, he challenged the company
sarcastically that the software would not be able to answer his question correctly.
The software company accepted the challenge and asked the President, “Mr.
President, you may give a try”.
The President confidently inserted his name into the computer and wrote “What
my father is doing right now?” In a flick of a second it replied “Your father is
playing cards in a casino in Las Vegas”. The President guffawed and said “Aha, its
wrong”. The Software engineer unhesitatingly replied “No, Sir our software
cannot be wrong; as it’s a basic question let us put it in more fundamentally”.
He fed into the computer, “Tell us what the husband of Mr. President’s Mother is
doing at this moment”. The answer was “The husband of the president’s mother
is having coffee with his wife in the President’s House”. On hearing this, a roar of
laughter exploded and the President was left confounded and speechless. Since
then he became the enemy of the entire fundamentalist. His hatred for
fundamentalism was carried out by his followers to the extent that they even
failed to realize that being a fundamentalist is an honour.
It’s a pity that the one who opposes fundamentalism does not know its actual
meaning. According to Oxford Dictionary a fundamentalist is one who abides by
the basic teachings of religion and the basic teachings of any religion calls for
good deeds only.
If given due consideration, it can undoubtedly be said that parting from
fundamentals laid by any religion, leads to evil deeds and wickedness and
everyone, belonging to any religion, ought to be a fundamentalist. It is the denial
of these basic teachings of religion that leads the society to such bashfulness and
disgrace as faced by the President.

Lesson No.2 THIEF OF SHROUDS
In a village there lived a man who used to steal the shroud (A large piece of cloth
sheet used to wrap the corpse before burial) of the recently buried corpse. People
knew the thief but could do nothing other than cursing him privately as he had
the support of the local police who were his sleeping partner in this business.
The thief was well aware of his status in the society; so he called his son at the
end of his life and asked him to do something for him so that the people may
remember him in good books after his death.
After the death of his father, unwillingly the son had to carry on the same
business as the sleeping partners did not like to lose their share. The son
continued stealing and selling the shrouds but remembering the last wish of his
father, changed the process slightly. His father used to re burry the corpse after
taking the shroud away; the son, on the other hand, left the body out of the grave
after stealing the shroud.
Now whenever the people found corpse of their relatives out of the graves they
would exclaim with horror, “Hell with him! At least his father was gentle and
courteous enough to rebury”. The son was happy that now his father was
remembered in a good taste, but it was very depressing that his own position was
at stake.
When he reached to his end, he also called his son and expressed the same last
wish as his own father had made to him. The son thought and planned to do
something worse than his father so that his father be remembered as per his last
wish. He, therefore, followed the footsteps of his father by stealing and not
reburying the dead bodies; in addition to that he also chopped off the nose and
ears of the corpse. Expectedly, the people considered his father a better person
than him as the father at least left the body undamaged.

Two Women approached the court to seek justice. Both were claiming to be the

Judge, left with no other choice, ordered to cut the baby into two halves and hand
over each dividend to both the claimants. As the bailiff confiscated the baby to
implement the decision of the court, only one of the claimants agreed whereas
the other cried, “No sir, please do not cut the baby. Give it to her”.
On hearing the cry, the judge ordered to hand over the baby to this woman and
arrest the woman who agreed to cut off the child.
It was a prudent idea that revealed the real claimant, who was ready to give her
child in order to save his life.

Lesson N0.4. THE WOLF & THE SHEEP
NOTE: (Though I had read this story of WOLF in my junior classes, but is so near
to our prevailing “New World Order” that I am forced to include it in this book).

There was a stream in a certain jungle which emerged from a mountain and
flowed through plains. All the animals, large or small, quenched their thirst at this
stream.
One day a lamb was drinking water from the stream at the foot of the mountain
when a wolf turned out at the head of the stream. While drinking, he observed
the lamb and started thinking for a lame excuse to kill the lamb. According to the
law of jungle it was necessary for Powerful animals to have justifiable reasons to
attack the smaller and powerless to prove them Peace loving, Just & Liberal.
Thinking for an excuse to kill, he shouted at the lamb saying that the lamb was
making the water contaminated by putting his mouth in the stream. The lamb
pointed out that the water was flowing from his side downwards and there was
no chance of water getting dirty. Failing to trap the lamb, the wolf sought another
false allegation; ‘Okay, but what about that you, a year back abused me for
nothing and ran away’. The lamb innocently said, “Sir, but I am just 6months old”.
Realizing his failure in cornering the lamb, the wolf jumped on him saying, “Then

Lesson No.5 PRAYERS FOR RAIN (NAMAAZ-E-ISTISQA)
Once in a village, people jeopardized famine, as it did not rain throughout the
year. The Sky was clear of clouds. Wells, ponds, rivers and streams dried up so
much so that people decided to offer prayers and ask for Almighty’s forgiveness
to their sins and to pour rain. They hoped that the Almighty Allah would have
mercy and listen to some virtuous person out of them.
(This prayer for rain, called Namaaz-e-Istiqsa is offered by Muslims in such
condition. It is offered in congregation, outside the village in open field. Adult
men and children gather in the field and offer prayers).
While going to the open field, people smiled at a young boy and made fun of him,
who carried an umbrella along with him. When people lined up for the prayers,
the PESH IMAAM (Muslim Priest who leads the prayers and is titled Maulana),
announced “A wrist watch has been found. The owner is requested to come and
get it”. Three persons approached the Maulana to claim the watch. The Maulana
sarcastically laughed and addressed the congregation, “How do you expect Allah
the Almighty to respond to our prayers when we have such cheaters and liars
among us? I have not found any watch but see three claimants have come for it”.
The three claimants pleaded that they were not liars and have lost their watches
in real but people laughed at them.
Preconceiving that it may not rain, the paid priest played this trick to make people
realize them of their sins. He himself had weak faith and did not expect the
prayers would be accepted by ALLAH.
The prayers were offered and, as the people, were still far from the village, from
nowhere black clouds appeared and suddenly it started to rain heavily. Men and
children started running in panic except the boy who was laughed at for carrying
the umbrella. He walked cheerfully under the umbrella. The boy was the only one
who strongly believed that Allah would listen to his prayer and perhaps Allah did
not like the way he was humiliated for carrying the umbrella.

Lesson No. 6 LUCK
Hundreds of Years ago, when people traveled on foot, a caravan of 20 peoples
started its journey to another city. As soon as it was out of town an old man
approached and requested to be taken with them. After great hesitation and
argument he was taken along.
About half of the journey the caravan was confronted by heavy rains and a storm.
All the travelers headed towards a large tree for shelter. The tree was large
enough to save them from getting wet. With the passage of time instead of
slowing down, the rain and thunderstorm got worse. The lightening was very
frightening. It appeared that it was coming down to catch the tree under which all
twenty- one were taking refuge. The lightening was continuously flashing and
appeared to be attacking the tree. This caused frustration among the travelers
and they concluded that the lightening was after one of them; due to him others
were endangered. They decided to exclude the unlucky. For this each of them
would leave the tree, walk a little further away and after spending two minutes in
open would come back. The man to be the victim of the lightening would meet its
fate and the others would be left safe. First of all the leader of the caravan left
and came back safe and sound though the lightening crackled continuously. The
second did the same until all but the old man who joined the caravan late.
Understanding that he was the unlucky, pleaded that he might not be sent
because by standing with the 20 lucky ones he could be saved. All the 20 persons
did not like to endanger their lives, hurriedly pushed the old man away from the
big tree. As soon as the old man was away from the tree, the lightening
thundered and fell on the tree killing all the 20 people sheltered under the tree,
leaving the old man safe and sound.

35
Lesson NO. 7. THE BEARD
Beard has a significance value in Islam and is considered sign of respect and
dignity. Albeit it should have been the identity of being Muslim, it’s a pity that all
the Muslims do not have beard. Some are of the opinion that when they would be
worthy enough to be identified as Muslims they would have beard; whereas there
are others who, believing it is not mandatory to have beard, remain clean shaved.
Apart from these two types, there are other non- bearded Muslims who taking
the advantage of the dispute on the size of beard, prefer not to have the beard.
There were times when People, particularly the females felt safe and secured in
the presence of bearded persons as it was considered that men with sound
character had beard.
Then, the emergence of hippies’ subculture in 1960s adversely affected the
Muslims’ Beard. The unholy hippie Beard over shadowed the dignified Muslims
beard. Even worse the hooligans and vagabonds also fashioned beard. The
portrayal of bearded negative characters through films also discouraged people to
have beard.
The Titles Mullah, Molvi or Maulana are for the learned scholar in Islam but here
they are mockingly titled for all the bearded persons, irrespective of their
qualifications, piety and learning. It is experienced that people are just called
Maulana due to the beards.
One Politician in Pakistan is called Maulana (maybe) because of his beard. He is
allegedly involved not only in a notorious scandal known as Diesel Scandal but in a
score of other corruptions. God knows whether the allegations are true or not but
for a lay man, ‘smoke is the outcome of fire’. He is also notorious for his Promise
breaking which is a major Sin in Islam. The supreme irony is that he supported the
government for not keeping its promise and while justifying the promise breaking,
he forgot the orders of Holy Quran which strictly instructs to keep up with the
promise.
It’s a matter of great concern that for any crime, committed by any bearded
rogue is attributed to the Muslims in general and Islamic Teachers and Preachers
in particular, as for every Islamic Teachers/ Preachers, it is mandatory to have
beard. As a result the entire responsibility is shifted on Islam and its followers.
36
International Media equally plays its negative role in harming Muslims and Islam.
If a criminal is bearded; it would take no time for media to portray him as a
Muslim criminal. In USA Jack the ripper was arrested for killing call girls. Nobody
bothered to know his religious believes or where he studied. On the contrary a
young chap having beard was arrested for committing the same crime was
portrayed by media as Molvi Sarvar, who was raised in madrasah ( School
imparting Islamic Teachings) etc.
The double standard of the society can be judged by the Beard phenomena only.
99% of Sikhs and all the Jew Priest keep beards but only Muslims get into trouble
if they are having beard.

EXERCISE NO.7

Q.3. Why a thief, when caught declared that mistakenly he had torn a few pages
of Holy Quran and for that he is being penalized. Because:-
A. 3. (a) Punishment for Blasphemy is less severe than for Theft
(b) N.G.Os for Minorities, Commission for Human Rights and others
would become active to save the blasphemer.

37
Lesson NO. 8 HYPOCRICY
In the heart of the city Riaz Shaikh owned the biggest shoe store. His residence
was in a very big villa. His younger brother Fayyaz Shaikh’s store was on the other
side of the town and he resided in an equally big villa adjacent to Riaz’s residence.
Both the brothers were very religious and were deemed to be very honest and
thorough gentlemen.
Their prosperity was evident by their lavish living. Although both were pious and
generous but habitual of swearing too often while selling goods which is contrary
to Islamic Teaching. They had a unique way of earning for which, they had
adopted a strange strategy. According to this strategy one of them used to
purchase large quantity of goods from the wholesale Market. After the purchase
instead of taking the stock to the shop, they would go to the residence. At home
one brother would sell the goods to the other at a higher rate. For example if the
shoes were purchased at a Rate of Rs.100/ per pair, it would be sold at a rate of
Rs.150/ per pair. After this internal buying and selling the stocks would be taken
to the Shop. Now very comfortably the brother who had purchased at home
would tell the customers, “swear upon God I got it for Rs.150/ - now with 20%
profit you can have it for Rs.180/”. Due to this tactic after bargaining the deal
would settle somewhere between Rs.150 and Rs.180/. Now even if confronted by
a niggardly customer, the deal could be settled at the cost price of Rs.150/. The
customer would leave happily that he got it on cost price whereas the shopkeeper
had had already pocketed Rs.50/- As mentioned, both the brothers were
generous in giving alms and charity also. Once a year they would also calculate
ZAKKAT* to be given to poor. (*According to Islam every rich man has to calculate
his wealth once a year and give 2.5% of the calculated riches in charity). Both
these apparently pious brothers did not hesitate in deceiving the Almighty at the
time of giving ZAKAT too. They used to purchase gold for the calculated amount
which would be in thousands. Very trickily they would put the gold in a big
earthen ware containing 20 kilograms of wheat and called for some blind man
and would say, “This earthenware contains Zakat, you may take it and pray for
our prosperity. This pot has 20kg wheat; I am sure you will carry it”. The beggar
would leave happily when the other brother would stop him and say. “Would you
38
like to sell the wheat? I can pay you the price of wheat to make you get rid of this
load”. The beggar would happily hand over the pot for the considerable amount
without realizing he is being deprived of the gold.
Both the brothers were not only cheating in worldly affairs but in religious
matters too. People took them for religious, pious, honest and generous so much
so that they themselves started believing it.

Lesson NO. 9 PERJURY
Hundreds of year ago, when it became necessary to collect the ‘AHAADEES’ {the
instructions and sayings of Prophet Hazrat (Prefix similar to Reverend)
Muhammad peace be upon him}, the researcher laid very strict rules to check for
their authenticity. One of the rules was to check the piety of the narrator of the
saying.
If anyone narrating the sayings was found to have lied even once in a life time or
would have been involved in any crime, was excluded and his narrated saying was
discarded. For collecting all the AHAADEES, the researchers travelled throughout
the country to meet the virtuous persons to learn and collect the authentic
AHAADEES.
One Learned Researcher Scholar (the name is not being disclosed) heard about a
very old man to be residing in a far flung area. Being very old, it was expected to
get authentic and firsthand information out of him.
The researcher, after a long journey, reached the old man and found him calling
one of his cattle; and to attract the animal he was using a sack. The researcher
was astonished to see that the sack was empty and the old man was deceiving the
animal by pretending as if it was having food in it. On witnessing this, the
researcher decided not to have information from him and returned back.
Even these days, in courts of justice, if anybody, found to be committing perjury
is not only heavily penalized but also become unreliable for rest of his life.

Lesson No. 10 VOICE OF ALMIGHTY ALLAH
A man came out of his office and headed towards his home in his car. As he was a
bit late in getting up, there was a heavy traffic on the road. He was driving slowly
when he had to stop at a red signal. He chuckled because it was strange that for
the first time during the last 5 years, he had faced the red signal. He was thinking
about this when suddenly someone knocked the car’s window. A small boy of
hardly ten was pushing 4 packs of Milk. The boy begged, “Sir please buy these;
these are left, it is very cold and my mother would not spare me for not selling
these”. The man thought to give him the price without having the milk because he
did not need those, but decided against it as he hunched that the boy, after taking
the money would not go and try to sell the milk pack at some other car. He took
the packs and handed over the price. The signal went green and he drove off. He
smiled at the unnatural things happening that day. First, the heavy traffic, then
Red signal and now purchasing in between the road which he always discouraged.
Deep in thought he forgot to take the U-turn and proceeded further. Strange
enough he did not curse himself and drove peacefully for the next turning but he
did not get the chance to make the U-Turn as the traffic in front did not allow him
to change the lane. Now the next turn was nearly outside the city. He drove
leisurely; the traffic was reducing now and he easily made the turn and went on.
Suddenly he noticed the red light on the dash board indicating that the car was
heated up. He pulled the car down the road and stopped. He was a bit perturbed
to see the water bottle was empty. He took the bottle and stepped down to look
for water. At a little distance off the road there was an isolated hut. He walked
slowly towards the hut and heard a baby crying violently. The man approached
the hut and called for somebody. A woman, who was carrying the crying child
came to the door and looked at him enquiringly. The child was so restless that the
man instead of requesting for the water asked “why the baby is so restless and
crying bitterly”. The woman who herself looked very upset, replied with tears in
her eyes, “The baby is starving since after noon; his milk was spilled by some cat
and there is nothing in the house to feed. His father is not expected till mid

42
night”. The man immediately ran towards his car and hurriedly came back with
the packs of milk and handed over to her. The woman was so happy she even
forgot to thank him. She poured the milk into the feeding bottle and gave it to the
child to suck. Once the child was settled for the milk, she turned to him pleasingly
and said, “Sir, thank you very much, I do not know how to repay you. You are an
angel who has come to my house. Oh God! If he would not have come to help,
what would have happen? Sir please let me know, how much I owe you.” “Oh!
Just give some water for my car. I think Allah has sent this milk through me”.
The man got the water and in a few minutes he was heading towards his home to
experience something more. Though he was late, his wife unexpectedly did not
question him. Thanking God that the wife was not in any of her bad moods, he
quietly went in to change his dress. When he came to the dining table, he was
dumbfounded to see 12 milk packs of same brand which he had purchased
earlier. Wife noticing his amazement, said, “Our neighbors Mr. & Mrs. Syed have
sent these. They got the distribution of this brand and want to have our
comments.” He nodded approvingly towards the ways of Allah accomplishing all
the deeds. No doubt HE IS GREAT.

(It has no connection to Krishn Chander’s Donkey)

A farmer was having problem with his donkey that had grown old and was of no
use. It had become a liability. He also had an old and dried up well in the midst of
the farm. The farmer had plans to conceal it whenever time permitted. The
farmer was of progressive mind, looking forward to get rid of old things. He
wanted to have latest ways and means for cultivation.
One day it happened that the donkey accidently fell in the well. The farmer
thought at least he got a chance to get rid of that old and useless donkey, but
most of to his annoyance the donkey brayed the whole night. The entire family
could not sleep the whole night. The braying continued so much so that the
farmer decided to throw all the waste material that was piled up for disposal into
the well to bury the donkey. Farmer and his family started throwing all the waste
in the well. In the beginning the donkey did not understand what was happening.
Realizing later, he shoved off all the waste dropped on him and climbed up the
fallen waste. Now the farmer’s family was throwing the dirt on the donkey and he
was shoving off to climb up. After some time the well was filled up to the rim. The
donkey came up as he was climbing up the dirt so much so that he easily jumped

Lesson No. 12 MOUNTBATTEN
After the Independence, at the Oath taking ceremony of the Governor General,
Lord Mountbatten in his speech said “Pakistan has now emerged as an
Independent State; it is advisable for the state to adopt Akbar the Great’s
Constitution which is exemplary for its brotherhood and equality.” The Quaid-e-
Azam, Muhammad Ali Jinnah in his speech in return, defiantly advised
Mountbatten “There is no need for you to be distressed for our constitution; a far
better constitution than of Akbar’s had already been given to Muslims 1400 years
ago by our Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and which is second to
none.
Such were the steps taken and responses given by Mr. Jinnah that forced
Mountbatten to acknowledge Mr. Jinnah’s discernment, Intelligence and
leadership skills in an interview given to B.B.C. in 1976 before he was murdered.
He admitted “I and my entire Cabinet would sit together day in and day out to
draft a resolution; and after making sure that Mr. Jinnah would not have any
insight to understand the secret would present it to Jinnah. To our great distress,
he within a few seconds of undergoing the resolution used to shatter it into
pieces, thereby literary exposing it. Much for our depression, his arguments
would be so argumentative that we were left dumbfounded. Those were the
times when I wished I could shoot him”. When asked to compare Jinnah and
Gandhi, he said “Entire Congress and Gandhi put together did not match Jinnah”.
Regarding Mr. Jinnah's ailment his response was “Had I had sensed that his illness
was too severe and he would not live for a year, I would have prolonged the
division to that extent that the division would not have occurred.”
Had had it not been concerning to lord’s own wife, he would have surely told the
interviewer that when some personal letters of Nehru and lord’s wife were given
to Mr. Jinnah to be used for exposing their relationship, he annoyingly ordered to
destroy them and said “ such cheap tactics are against Islamic teachings. It is not
justifiable to ridicule the opponent for our benefits”

Lesson No .13 THE ONE EYED MOTHER
A boy hated his mother. He thought she was a continuous source of
embarrassment for him as she had only one eye. In place of the other eye there
was an ugly hole. The unskilled stitching made it more horrible and frightening.
When she would bring food or drink for him, the children at school made fun of
him. He felt ashamed of her and wanted her not to come to school. One day out
of rage he said, “Why do you want to make me a laughing stock, why do you
come to school”. He was oblivious of her feelings. For his love only she was living
a hard life to earn bread and butter for him. She would remain quiet and observe
silence at his harsh words.
As the boy grew up his embarrassment developed into aversion. He even wished
her dead. The Mother did not die but the son did his graduation and left her for
good to be settled in a nearby town. He got married there. Very rarely he used to
contact her through letters. Even when he became father of a son he neither
visited the mother nor called her to his house. The mother waited for four years
to be invited but he did not bother. One day out of love for the son and grandson
she managed to go to his place. On knocking the door a small boy opened the
door but got frightened to see the one eyed woman on the doorstep. He
screamed so loud that the parents came out. Seeing the mother the son got
frustrated and shouted at her, “Why have you come? Can’t you leave us alone”.
Hearing this, mother was disappointed but managed to conceal the tears coming
to the only eye. With a very heavy heart she pretended, “Oh I am sorry;
mistakenly I have knocked the wrong door.”
Few days after, the young man was invited at the Golden ceremony of his school.
After the ceremony, the principal of the school gave him a letter and told him,
“Two days ago your mother, who was seriously ill for some time, had passed
away. She had asked me to deliver this letter to you.”
The boy opened the letter and started reading which said, “My dear son, may God
bless you. I am too ill and do not hope to see you. The principal has informed me
49
that you are coming. He promised me that he would bring you to me, but I do not
expect to live till then therefore I am leaving this letter for you. Dear son, I feel
guilty that I scared my own grandson that day. Dear I reached your place just in
your love and to meet my grandson. I did not know that this eye of mine would be
a burden for me throughout my life and my own son would hate me and leave
me. Son I hope you would excuse me, but believe me I am not to be blamed. It
was just fate that your father passed away when you were a baby. I was working
too hard to make you live comfortably but unfortunately in an accident you lost
your eye. I do not know how I managed a quack doctor to operate and give you
my eye. The specialist eye surgeons had refused to do so. Luckily your eye was
fixed efficiently but he spoiled my case and left me in this ugly shape which
became the cause of your hatred. I hope you will forgive me.

Yours in love

Mom.

Lesson No.14 WHOM TO BE ASKED FOR JUSTICE
It was about two o’clock at night. A man was walking briskly towards the railway
station to receive one of his friends coming by train. It was approximately two
miles to reach the station. He had to walk all this long because it was impossible
to get any conveyance at that hour.
The station was outside the city and on its way there was a cemetery and a
MARGHAT (a place where Hindus burn the corpse). Adjacent to the Cemetery was
the ruins of a building which looked very scary in the star light. As he stepped a
few paces forward he sensed someone coming out of the ruins and heading
towards the road. He started walking faster to avoid that ‘someone’ but before he
had passed by the ruins he came in front of him and asked, ‘Sir, can you please
tell me where the inhabitants of this house went’. The query was amazing but his
politeness made him stopped. He was an old man dressed in white. The man
looked at the old man inquiringly but hastily stepped back; a shiver ran through
his spine when his eyes fell upon his hands to see that they resembled the fore
feet of a lamb. With trembling feet he managed to run away recklessly. Without
looking back he kept on running to find a Tonga (a horse cart used to take away
passengers) standing in between the road. The coach man was checking the
bridle. The man was comforted to see the Tonga on that dreadful road. He asked
the coachman to take him to the station and took a seat at the back and glanced
towards the ruins which were standing isolated. As the Tong made its way
towards the station, the man started to tell about the stranger, but the coach
man did not show any interest in hearing the story. Seeing the indifferent
attitude, which was very peculiar, the man started to tell him about the hands.
“And the stranger’s hands were like…” the coachman interrupted and turned to
him and showing his hands asked, “were they like these?” The hands were exactly
like the hands seen earlier. On seeing this, the man jumped off the Tonga
screaming with fear and sped towards the station. He made to the station and
directly went to the Railways Police office. It was quite dark in the office. Only a
51
small bulb was on, which was not enough to overcome the darkness. An old
policeman was dozing off in the chair. Hearing the footsteps he got alert and
asked, “Yes sir, what can I do for you”. The man, who was still upset, started to
narrate about the night’s incidences. When he was to tell about the hands, the
policeman showed his hands and asked, “Did they happen to be like this”. The
man jumped and fled away in horror.

LESSON NO. 15 CLEVERNESS
Now it happens that in a village lived a fool. People were of the opinion that if the
fools had horns, this fool would be called a stag (animal having 12 horns). One day
the chief of the village humorously suggested him to go to the city to learn some
tricks to achieve some cleverness. Taking this advice seriously, he took some
money and set off for a nearby town. Such a fool he was to take such an advice
seriously.
As he got down off the Bus a thug spotted him. He approached the fool and
asked, “You seem to be a new comer to the town; can I be of some help to you”.
The fool was impressed and foolishly told him that he had come to learn some
tricks to become clever.
The Thug exclaimed,” Ah ha! That’s very clever of you that you have come to this
town, but have you got enough money to pay for learning”. “Oh yes, I have
Rs.200 and some money for the fare to go back”. The Thug was not only kind
hearted but open hearted too, therefore got ready to teach one trick for Rs.200
only at once so that he could return immediately. After taking Rs.200 he said, “Do
as I tell you and remember it and practice it on reaching your village”. The Thug
then placed his palm on a nearby wall and advised the fool to hit by his fist as
hard as he could. When the fool blew the fist, smartly the thug removed his hand
and the fool banged the wall with full force. Out of pain he looked at the thug
who satisfied him by Saying,” this is cleverness. You tried to hurt me but you
yourself got hurt; this is cleverness”. Though he was hurt but was happy to have
learned a trick.
He happily returned. After getting down the bus he had to cross a big field. As he
was crossing the field he met one of his friends and he thought to apply the wit
on to him. Informing his friend that he has learnt a lesson of cleverness, asked
him whether he would like to see. The friend allowed him. The fool looked around
for a wall, failing to which he put his palm on his face and suggested the friend to
hit at the palm and see his cleverness. Very cleverly he removed his hand but lost
three teeth.

53
EXERCISE NO. 15

count the things in which we are not.

Q.3. Is it not amazing that the City Thug did not take away every belonging of
the fool, but also gave him a safe exit by sparing the fare.

Q.4. The reason for not taking away the fare money was:-
(1) He was kind hearted. (2) He wanted to keep the doors open for future.

Q.5. Give one good reason for providing safe exits to Usurpers instead of putting

54
Lesson NO. 16 THE UNDISCIPLINED WIFE
Mr. Sabir Ali was a much disciplined, cultured man. He was not only a cheerful
person but witty as well. After marriage he was blessed with a son and a
daughter. Things went fine but for three years only, then a change started
occurring in his character. Now seldom he was seen laughing or smiling. He
started coming home late and stopped taking interest in household affairs as he
was extracted to see the house condition, where webs appeared in every nook
and corners; dirt could be seen all over Sofas and beds. The wife was
disinterested in cleanliness. Seeing her indifferent attitude he tried to draw her
attention but in vain. Sometime he turned too angry that the children had to
suffer his anger. Sabir had dreamt of an ideal home, neat and clean; everything in
order and well disciplined, but his dreams did not come true. This was the reason
of his disquietude. When he would come home he noticed dirty bed sheets and
pillow covers, edibles lying uncovered with flies all over. Seeing such filthy
conditions, he had stopped inviting friends. Instead of saving in the bank he had
spent a lot for the welfare of the house. Every electronic utility for comfort was in
the house. Heaters, Choppers, Air conditioner, Vacuum cleaner etc., but all these
were either out of order or broken.
When the quarrelling increased, instead of realizing the cause, his wife would say,
“It is the effect of some evil spirit”; consequently, Sabir lost interest in the house
and became ill tempered”.
An old Aunty of Sabir regularly visited them. She was an intelligent lady. She had
long before figured out the cause of Sabir’s disinterest in the house. When she
learnt that the wife is attributing the quarrel to be the outcome of magic and
enchantment, she realized that the wife was superstitious and believed in Magic,
evil spirits and amulets. Therefore to satisfy her she said “Do not worry. I will get
you a TAVEEZ (amulet) from a saint and everything will be settled but you will
have to enact according to his command. And yes, keep it to yourself”. The old
Lady had plans to help Sabir, therefore the very next day she came up with an
amulet and asked the wife to put it in Sabir’s Pillow and to clean the house daily,
change the bed sheets and coverings on alternate days. She also told her that the
Saint has advised her to take a bath daily at twilight and burn LOBAAN (incense) in
55
the house to avoid evil spirits. The superstitious wife happily asked, “How much I
have to pay the Saint”. The old lady hurriedly said, “Don’t you ever say this. The
saint will be annoyed. He has given this for the sake of the Almighty”.
That evening when Sabir came he was amazed to see the change. Wife and
children were cleanly dressed and everything was in order.
The superstitious wife who did not pay attention towards cleaning, now for the
amulet would keep everything clean and tidy. The husband’s annoyance did not
do what the intelligence of the old Aunty did.

EXERCISE NO. 16
Q.1. Humorous writer Dr. Shafiq ur Rehman had written that a superstitious
student passed his exam under the spell of an amulet given to him by a witty
friend, who strictly asked him not to open the amulet. After the exams, some
of the friends compelled him to open. Much to their astonishment in the
amulet a paper was sewn on which a line from a song was written. In the light
of this can anyone imagine what was written on the amulet brought by the
Aunty?

Q.2.What punishment Islam suggests for superstitious persons believing in

Amulets and magic etc.

56
LESSON NO. 17 THE WILDERNESS
Somewhere in a jungle there was an animal kingdom and truly, the law of jungle
was enforced there. The beneficiary of justice always happened to be Rich and
powerful. Nobody gave an ear to the weak and poor. One day a pair of parrot
from a nearby town was crossing that area. As it got dark they settled themselves
on a very huge tree for an overnight stay. Seeing the desolation of the jungle, the
hen- parrot exclaimed, “What a wilderness prevails this area, as if, an owl inhabits
here.” Now an owl, sitting on a nearby branch of the tree, over heard her. Feeling
hurt to this remark, he fluttered to the parrots and sat down beside them. After
greeting each other he offered them to have meals and stay with him for the
night.
Hesitantly, both agreed and the owl took them to his residence. In the morning as
they prepared to leave, the owl pointing towards the hen parrot asked, “Why are
you taking her, she is my wife.” Hearing this, parrots were flabbergasted. The
Parrot pleaded, “Brother, what are you saying, she is a parrot and is my wife”. The
owl said patiently, “No need to quarrel, let’s go to the court and get the matter
settled; whatever the courts decide I will abide by that”.
All the three proceeded to the court. The judge was informed that the owl is son
of the soil and the parrot is an outsider and unnecessarily claiming the hen-parrot
to be his wife. The judge gave a fair chance to the parrot to give evidence in
support of his claim. After a long discussion, the judge was pleased to inform, ‘As
long as the courts are independent and providing justice, nobody can overcome
us”. After the speech the ruling was given in favor of the son of the soil. On this
judgment the parrot got unconscious. On recovery, he prepared to leave but the
owl stopped him and asked him to take the wife with him. Parrot was astonished,
“My wife! But the court….” the owl interrupted to say, “My dear she is your wife; I
just wanted to prove you that the rulings are given in favour of the powerful. In
this case you were not only an outsider but also weaker, therefore order of the
court had to be in my favor. Here the MIGHT is RIGHT; Wilderness is not because
of Owls, it is an outcome of injustice”.

Lesson NO.18 A CONVERSATION
Husband: Darling where are you (a bit louder) Oh dear where are you.

Wife: What are you up to? Why are you shouting?

Husband: Listen, I have asked a friend of mine to dinner. Hurry up, please
make arrangements.

Wife: Are you crazy. Don’t you see the condition of the house; it’s so
untidy. Is this the way to invite someone at eleventh hour? At
least you should have informed me earlier.

Husband: But I have invited him. He is about to arrive.

Wife: But you can see the whole house is a mess. The Meat in the freezer
is frozen and thawing will take time. It’s not an easy job to prepare
meals.

Husband: Defrost the meat in Microwave.

Wife: The microwave is out of order since long

Husband: Hell with it.

Wife: But what’s the urgency. Can’t you wait for a day or two?

Husband: No.

Wife: What he would think on seeing the condition of our house.

Husband: Let him think! Actually this is what I want to show him

Wife: WHAT? What do you want to show?

Husband: The miserable living of a married man

Wife: Why? Ridiculous, why you want to show this?

Husband: Because that fool is planning to marry.

59
Lesson No.19 TWO WEDDINGS
THE FIRST WEDDING
A young Muslim girl came to her father to get his consent. She wanted to marry a
non-Muslim boy. Her mother had died long before when she was a child. Her
Father, involved in politics, could not look after her so she was left in the hands of
her Maternal Grand Parents who were non-Muslims. The father disallowed her to
marry the non –Muslim. She reminded the father that he himself had had married
a non –Muslim. The father corrected her that her mother had embraced Islam
before the nuptial.
(The news of her reverting to Islam appeared in Military Gazette, Daily PAISA and
all other new papers in the publications during 21st to 24th April 1918. The Papers
reported that Sir Petit Dinshaws’ daughter had embraced Islam and married the
eminent Barrister Mohammed Ali Jinnah).
The father tried to convince her and told her if the boy was ready to embrace
Islam he would have no objection. To settle the dispute the father deputed
Maulana Shaukat Ali to convince the daughter and to impart her with Islamic
teachings. According to historian, Rais Ahmed Jafri, the Maulana failed to
convince her and she got married. The father sent a message telling her as she
had disobeyed Allah, she should not come to him. Though it’s on the record but
the so called religious leaders still consider The Quaid not to be the true follower
of Islam.
There is another wedding which proves that the Lobby working against Pakistan
and its founder is very strong.

THE SECOND WEDDING

The niece, of a supporter of Indian Congress from N.W.F.P. who had worked hard
against the creation of Pakistan, decided to marry a Sikh despite she was brought
up in Muslim family. She was not only allowed to marry but the father bade her
farewell with all his blessings. None of the so called Religious leaders had the guts
to criticize.
The Supreme irony is that such are the persons taken to be Muslims and not the
Quaid.

60
EXERCISE NO. 19
Q.1. If the Quaid was not Muslim why did not he surrender to the wishes of his
daughter.

Q.2. Why Maulana Hussein Ahmed Madani and Mufti Kifayatullah had
reservation in believing that Mohtarma Ratti Jinnah had embraced Islam,
particularly in presence of the papers reporting the proceedings.

Q.3. If Mohtarma Ruttie Jinnah had not reverted to Islam why the Parsi
community had reacted.

Q.4.The spiritual leaders, such as Maulana Thanvi, Maulana Usmani and Mufti
Muhammad Shafi supported The Quaid; what was the reason of the enmity
shown by Hussein Madani and Mufti Kifayatullah for the Quaid.

Q.4. Why Ruttie Jinnah is not called or written as Mohtarma Mariam Jinnah
though she had taken the Islamic name Mariam.

61
Lesson No. 20 HISTORY
The Muslims are rightly disquieted for they, the followers of Mohammad
(P.B.U.H) are taken to be backward and conservative as compared to followers of
other Religions. All other Religions such as, Christianity, Judaism and Hinduism are
older than Islam. The Holy Quran came only 1500 years ago, and gives the most
modern teachings for living. Before Islam, newly born females were buried alive.
Men would take innumerous women to be their wives. Islam restricted them up
to four; and even that was under the strict condition of treating all of them
equally. (It’s a pity that this allowance is projected as if compulsory for a Muslim
to have more than one wife. The actual commandment of Restriction of having
innumerous women is not highlighted by the so called Champions of Justice). All
the religious books including Old & New Testimony, prohibit drinking and having
pork but their followers disobey the commandments with impunity. The Quran
not only verified but also reinforced these commandments.
The supreme irony is that the so called Muslim Scholars, Intellectuals and
Religious leaders are impressed and taken away by this propaganda and have
forgotten that all the Holy books are thousands of years older than the Holy
Quran. Therefore they are foolishly trying to modernize Islam. They do not have
the guts to tell the ignorant world that Islam is the latest and the most modern
Religion. They do not challenge the critic of Islam to point out at least one
commandment that is against humanity from The Quran.
It is possible that for the followers of other religion, the one who is virtuous and
religious is backward. But according to this theory, Hinduism should be the most
back ward. In Hinduism, if a non-Hindu touches a Hindu or his belongings,
particularly utensils, the Hinduism is jeopardized. Before the creation of Pakistan,
Hindus killed Muslims for committing the sin of touching a Hindu or slaughtering
cows. Islam does not allow this. It says killing one man is tantamount to killing the
whole Humanity. The number of riots in the name of religion that were
experienced during last sixty years in Bharat is thousands time more than those
were seen in Islamic era of 1500 years. The Religious Festivals in Hinduism are
enormous. Just in capital city Delhi, it is common to meet their gods (Cow or
Monkey) on the main Roads. At every nook and corner, coming across the statues
62
of their gods such as Snake, Elephant, Cows and Monkeys are not uncommon;
People stop in front of these to prostrate. You can commonly find well-dressed
gentlemen having colored thread wearing around their wrists. Most of them even
have colored marks (TILAK) on the forehead in between the eye brows. Strange
enough they are not taunted to be “FUNDAMENTALIST”. (However to be a
fundamentalist is a good sign).
It’s an honor for Muslims that they did not have Emperors like others had. Ancient
Egyptians had their kings called Pharaoh. Romans had Caesars (from Augustus to
Harridan) all were called Caesar. Even Russians up till 1917 adopted the Title of
CZAR for their Kings.
Islam had prohibited for Kingdoms and Empires 1500 years ago, (The modern
world has recently learned about Democracy and even now Kings and Queens are
available in this modern society), but it is not understood that how some Muslim
Kings had come into being.
During Pakistan movement some sycophant leaders wanted Mohammad Ali
Jinnah to be titled as “Emperor of Pakistan”, but Mr. Jinnah reacted sternly and
disallowed them to call him with such a title. Once some emotional Muslims
called him Maulana to which also he strictly ordered them not to use such titles
for him.
After the Quaid, such flatterers tried to seduce the rulers to become the monarch
but their dreams did not come true. However one usurper planned to be the
Lifelong President, but during his life, he was dethroned and the history remained
without a chapter on “Ayub Dynasty “. Another Dictator despite hanging a Prime
Minister did not survive to rule over the country till the doomsday. Yet another
Dictator, just to prolong his tenure, not only handed over the sons and daughters
of Pakistan to get Dollars in exchange but also shamelessly confessed this in his
biography. He also dishonored the Nuclear Scientist and belittled the Nuclear
Program. He ordered to burn more than 5 thousand girl students with
phosphorus but even afterwards could not become the sovereign power.
After such adventurism this is certain that in Pakistan there is no room for kings
and emperors. Therefore in view of these historical facts a new strategy of
adopting a particular surname for the ruler is being introduced to remain in
power for a considerable period. If this strategy is enforced successfully for ten or
63
twenty years then all our Presidents would be remembered by that surname just
like Pharaoh, Cyrus, Caesar and Czar. This would not be a strange thing, for the
world is aware of several James, Henry, Louis, Fernando and Abdul Rehman. Even
Popes adopt name other than their own name. Just to remind, Pope Pious XIII,
Pope Paul II and Pope Paul John are worth mentioning.

EXERCISE NO. 20
Q.1. Is it possible to take up a surname of our own choice
(i) YES (ii) NO

Q.2. For the change of surname has one to apply to N.A.D.R.A.

Q.4.The judges were suspended unconstitutionally by the Usurper; why they

cannot be restored by a simple notification

Q.5. Is Nadra a girl name, or the acronym for National Database and
Registration Authority?

LESSON NO. 21 KILL THE CAT ON THE FIRST DAY
It is believed that an educated wife would make the married life happy and
prosperous. A man was to be married to a highly educated lady. One of his stupid
friends wrongly advised him, “For a prosperous life, the wife should be kept under
the thumb; never be submissive to her, or she would make the life hell for you.
Keep her inspired with awe”.
Foolishly he told him about an Old Persian idiom “KILL THE CAT ON THE FIRST
DAY”. He further guided him to bring home a cat, “Before bringing the bride home
starve the cat for a couple of days. When you will take your first dinner with the
newlywed wife, the hungry cat at the sight of dinner will become impatient and
would try to approach the food. Only for once try to stop her, naturally she will
not stay back. At this moment, violently you should take the sword out and telling
the cat you do not like to repeat command, behead the cat. Thus the wife will be
terrified and will carry out your orders immediately.”
The man, not realizing that prosperity comes with love, understanding and
respecting each other, decided to follow his friend’s instructions. After the
wedding formalities were over and both were left alone to have their first dinner,
as per plans the hungry cat was set free, who snapped at the dishes; the husband
in a stern voice commanded the cat to refrain, but in vain. But before he would
have taken the sword out the wife shouted at the highest pitch of her voice,
“Stop! Don’t you ever dare to kill the cat and stain the carpet with blood; you
yourself will have to clean the mess; I have read this story of the cat killing in the
school days. I am not the one to be impressed by such foolish tactics”
On her shouting so violently the husband was confounded so much so that after
that day, throughout his entire life he never dared to raise his head before the
wife.

65
EXERCISE NO. 21
Q.1. If the wife is educated, intelligent and comprehensive then what is the need
to keep her under the thumb.

but were kicked out from the main Stream after the successful take over.

Dictators Companions
a. Gen. Ayub Khan. A. Field Marshal Amir Aamir

b. Gen. Zia-ul-Haque. B. Gen. Usmani

c. Gen. Pervez Musharraf. C. Gen. Azam Khan

d. Col. Jamal Nassir D. Gen. Faiz Chisti

Q.4. Why don’t the Companions learn lessons from History instead of becoming
accomplice of dictators in the takeover.

66
Lesson No. 22 THE TRUE MUSLIM
Intelligent is a person who does not repeat his follies. Islam suggests not to be
bitten twice from the same snakes’ hole. But we Muslims have forgotten the
Islamic teachings and are being bitten again and again.
Today I, with a hope that at least one source of injury could be closed, would like
to point out a hole through which our Muslim brethren suffer again and again;
unfortunately this detrimental source (The so called Islamic Scholars) is hidden
under the sacred cover of Religion. People are afraid of these Islamic Scholars
who are misguiding Muslims. The supporters of these so called Islamic Scholars
cum spiritual leaders are convinced to that extent that they would not accept any
argument against them.
Let’s look into a few examples in this context:-

 When the loud Speaker was introduced, it was portrayed as to be

diabolic; atheistic doubts were exhibited against its usage by the
religious Preacher. Today the beneficiaries of this Satanic Instrument
are the same persons who gave their verdict against it.
 When Sir Syed called the Muslims to educate themselves in English,
the same so called Religious Scholars opposed him and declared him to
be an infidel. Sir Syed did not lose his heart and carried on and did a
great job in imparting knowledge to Muslims. Despite all his efforts the
Muslims were left behind the non-Muslims in this field.
 Allamah Iqbal was also not spared and declared infidel; the irony is that
today his couplets are mostly used by these Moulvees in the Sermon.
 The Quaid-e-Azam was also a victim at the hands of the so called
Moulvees who accused him of marrying a non-Muslim girl. They did
not consider that Mr. Jinnah had not followed Humayyun Kabir, Sir Asif
Ali and Dr.KhanSahib and other such persons to opt for civil marriage;
the wife had embraced Islam before the wedding.
 Maulana Abul Kalaam Azad, Maulana Hussain Ahmed Madani and the
party Jamiat Ulmai Hind had adversely affected the Muslims by

67
opposing Pakistan. The Pakistani Nation is still suffering its
consequences.
 These so called Maulana divided the Muslims on petty matters and
opposed Pakistan so tactfully that still some fools take them to be
justified. May Allah bless Maulana Ashraf Thanvi, Allama Shabbir
Usmani , Maulana Zaffer Usmani and Mufti M. Shafi who supported
the Quaid in burying the ill motives of these so called Moulvees.
Had had these spiritual leaders not supported the Quaid, the so called
Moulvees would have declared all the Muslims to be impious.
Just think over, these nationalist Moulvees wanted to replace the
believers of the Holy Book (Christians) with the Hindus with whom
Muslims are not even allowed to marry.

EXERCISE NO. 22
Q.1.It is believed that the Muslims in Bharat are targeted because Muslims took
part in the division of India, then what is the reason for killing and burning
the houses of Christians, Sikhs and low caste Hindus.

Q.2. Name the Islamic Countries, other than Pakistan, which condemn the riots,
against Muslims in Bharat.

Q.3. The massacre of Muslims in Banaras was staged well before the partition.
Does it mean the Hindus had got the intuition that Muslims would take part in
the creation of Pakistan?

68
Lesson No. 23 THE PUPPET
Populace was a great wrestler but no one knew why he was called by the funny
name “Populace the wrestler”. Since he was a child he was interested in
wrestling. He inherited wrestling from his father who himself was a great
wrestler. Populace never ever lost to anybody. He defeated all his colleagues
within his own club and then he sought victories at other clubs of the city. His
popularity had no boundaries and soon, wrestlers from other towns started
challenging him. The limited budget became a hindrance in accepting such
challenges though his, strength, strategies, and skills in wrestling were matchless.
Noticing his skills and strength, various promoters showed interest in getting him
into contract with them but his coach did not give him a chance to even think of
leaving the club.
His track record, in which there was not a single defeat, attracted a Capitalist
Politician of the country, who ordered his ‘Think Tanks’ to plan to get hold of
Populace.
The Think Tanks reported back that Populace was very much influenced by his
coach. Besides, the proprietor of the club was a very contented man and would
not accept any riches for Populace. The capitalist made a task force to work out a
plan to get the wrestler by hook or by crook. The Task force first of all created
distrust and misunderstanding among the club members. Then the agents of the
Task force started sowing the seeds of disappointment and despair and within a
few days the members lost all hopes of betterment of the club. The members
stopped taking interest in club activities; the wrestlers would not practice or take
part in exercises. Only Populace was the one who did not lose his heart. However
it became impossible to practice wrestling all by him. The members abandoned
the club with the support of the task force. Seeing this vulnerable condition the
proprietor of the club was trapped to appoint an agent of the capitalist as C.E.O of
the club. The C.E.O. took hold of the club and the Proprietor became literary
inactive.
The C.E.O. took loans from the Capitalist and brought in highly expensive
exercising equipment for the Gym and spent a significant amount to renovate the
club. The wrestlers and other employees of the club were happy at this change
69
without realizing the debt in which the club was entrapped. The Coach was also
replaced by a new coach from abroad. Managers and large number of officials
were engaged on attractive salaries. Populace was initially perturbed but was
complacent when exercising on the latest equipment produced significant result
in developing his skills. His talents and skills were highlighted through media in
such a way that he became famous all over the world even before having a single
bout. Many wrestlers from abroad challenged him. The Manager and the officials
were dealing with all the challenges and the proprietor and the club members
remained oblivious to all these activities.
Now the wrestling contests started. Sometimes challengers from abroad came
and other times he used to go. In either case the propaganda for the bout was
highlighted to great extent to attract a large number of spectators. All was fine
but one thing Populace could not understand. Why sometime he had to lose the
wrestling to a weak wrestler on the instruction of his coach. C.E.O. was of the
opinion that if he would only win, the other wrestlers would lose interest in the
fights and stop coming to take part in wrestling. This was not for Populace but
other members of the club experienced same. Whether they win or lose in both
cases they were highly paid for each bout.
Everything was running well but one day without informing the C.E.O. and the
coach fled away and since then the club was in hot waters. The Capitalist came
down with decree for not paying back the loan taken. The proprietor of the club
was oblivious to all this mess. When police raided the club for the recovery and to
arrest him for being a default he was left with no choice other than to suicide,
thus Populace also lost his honor and pride.

Lesson No. 24 THE PITCHER OF EVIL
Long time ago, there lived a pious lady who lived in obedience to the will of God;
she offered prayers regularly, recited from the Holy Quran and never harmed her
fellow beings.
Unfortunately a girl of immodest character got settled in the house adjacent to
the pious lady’s house. From evening till late night, visitors having suspicious
character frequented her. She would hold parties and sang and danced to
entertain the guests and receive riches in return for her performance. All the
inhabitants of the neighborhood were fed up with such immodest activities but
could not take any action as the girl was influential; among her visitors were
people of high repute, some of them holding high administrative offices.
The pious lady was so grieved due to these activities that she got indulged in
keeping a track of the activities taking place in the adjacent house. She asked her
maid servant to get a large Pitcher and a sack of pebbles. She made it a point to
drop a pebble in the pitcher at every knock at the door of the dancer girl. It was
done so religiously that she would not forget to put the pebble in the pitcher,
even during prayers, overlooking that in Islam there is no provision of spying over
the sins of others. She also forgot that in Islam any activity including, talking
and/or listening while praying is prohibited.
Days, weeks and months went by until the life of the pious lady came to an end.
The entire neighborhood was saddened at the demise of the lady.
The Coffin of the deceased lady was prepared and as the people tried to pick it
up, they found it so heavy that it did not move. People were astonished. The
learned Preachers tried to find out the reason so they asked if anyone had any
grievance against her, may come forward and tell. The dancer was also present
there. She had never been offended by the lady and had no grievance against her
except that she was keeping an account of the dancer’s visitors. She had learnt it
through the maid servant who secretly visited her off and on. When no one
approached she came forward and revealed the secret of the pitcher. The learned
Preacher ordered to put the pitcher with the coffin and now the coffin was so
light that it was taken away effortlessly. So the record of the sins of the dancer
went away with the record keeper.
72
EXERCISE NO.24

Lesson NO. 25 THE IMPOSTOR SAINTS
Muraad Ali was a typist in a firm. Due to limited salary he always remained hand
to mouth. More over his superstitions got him involved with imposter saints,
exorcists and fakirs. Every now and then he frequented one or the other saint. His
wife was a wise lady. She was well aware with these Fake Pirs (saints) and their
cunningness with which they be fooled innocent people. She tried to convince
Muraad Ali but in vain. He did not give an ear to her advice and spent a lot of
amount of his salary to please the saints, by offering gifts and oblations.
As a large amount was spent over the imposter saints and fake fakirs, it made
difficult for the wife to keep the both ends meet from the remaining salary; thus it
gave rise to disputes and displeasures in the house. Instead of understanding the
root cause Muraad was advised by the impostors, that the displeasure and
disputes were the outcome of evil spirits that have taken over his house. To shunt
the spirits out, they would have to exorcize for 40 days and that would cost him
Rs.2000/ only. Such expenses worsen the destitution leading to dispute between
the spouses.
One day while visiting a shrine of a saint, Muraad was introduced to a so called
Saint who was propagated as the pillar of wisdom and piety. Hell with his piety
but in wisdom he was great because within no time Muraad was trapped in his
verbosity and was honored to be the head of the disciples of the saint.
One day without informing, the saint called upon Muraad Ali. Happily Muraad
received him and asked his wife to serve meals as it was time for lunch. The wife
got busy in preparing the meal and the Saint and the disciple went to the sitting
room to relax. The Saint lied down in a sofa and allowed Muraad to massage his
legs. Suddenly the saint picked up one of his shoes and threw it towards the outer
door in anger. On hearing the thud, the wife came in and found Muraad ali
standing with clasped hands, begging to know the reason for his annoyance. The
Saint closed his eyes and satisfied Muraad by informing, “ it‘s nothing. Just a dog
was heading towards the holy place of Mecca. I have stopped the dog.”
Muraad ali was impressed. He exclaimed, “Oh God is great. it’s great that you

74
noticed the dog hundreds of miles from here.” On hearing this, the wife smiled
under the lips and went to the kitchen and returned with a dish and placed it in
front of the saint. The saint uncovered the dish and saw the boiled rice in the dish.
Angrily he asked “Plain Rice? Don’t you have some meat or curry?”
The wife mockingly replied, “Why not Sir? Enough of Parched meat is under the
Rice.”
The saint laughed “Oh! I did not notice it. I thought that only rice is being served”.
Bitterly the wife muttered, “It’s strange! You can notice the dog hundreds of mile
away from here but could not see the parched meat under the rice” and went out
of the room.
Hearing this, the saint gave his verdict, “She is under the spell of evil spirits, but
you need not worry Muraad Ali. Come down to the Shrine in the evening. I will
give you an amulet for her. Put that around her neck that will save her from evils”.

Lesson No. 26 THE ONLY PHRASE
Maulana Deen Muhammad, the Preacher was a learned Islamic Scholar whose life
ultimately took a U-Turn in the right direction due to the only one phrase of his
wife.
It does happen sometimes that a learned man of very high intellect fails to
understand a simple philosophy of life but immediately understands when his
attention is drawn towards it by a common man of an average wisdom.
It is also a human psyche that a man sometimes refrain taking a task, considering
it to be a petty matter. Whereas in my opinion, any matter or problem, how small
it may be, should be brought in lime light and discussed, if it is beneficial for the
humanity. To clearly explain my view point, the story of Maulana Deen
Mohammad, the preacher would be of some help.
No doubt, Deen Mohammad was a learned Islamic Scholar and a great orator too.
He was such an eloquent that people from far and near frequented him to listen
to his sermon. During his speech people appreciated his each and every word.
Despite all his knowledge, skills and eloquence, God knows the reason why he
indulged in a bad habit of Alcoholism. After every congregation, on reaching
home he would ask the wife to bring parched meat and would settle down with a
bottle of wine. The wife cursed his habit and tried to explain that after such a
pious act of imparting religious teaching, he was inviting the wrath of Allah. To
this the Maulana would say, “Oh the kind hearted lady, you need not worry
because Allah is the most Compassionate and Merciful”.
To these words the wife used to become speechless and the Maulana was not
bothered by vice and virtues till dawn.
This activity continued for since long and came to its end when suddenly one
night the wife reacted to Maulana’s words that Allah is the most compassionate
and merciful and said “Yes HE is! But why do you forget He is Most Omnipotent
and the Most Imperious too.” On hearing this, the learned Preacher was so
terrified that he threw away the glass and the bottle of wine. He immediately got
up performed ablution and stood to pray and beg for His mercy.

Lesson NO. 27 THE VERDICT AND THE PIETY
A pious and abstemious Maulana was once asked by his student ‘Sir, if one’s dress
gets polluted by filth, what is the Islamic verdict for such dirty clothing?’ The
teacher, describing the size, said “if the filth is less than one inch (approximately)
in diameter, then there is no need to wash it out, but if the area is more than this
size, then it should be washed”.
One day the student noticed that the robe of the teacher was polluted by a little
filth. The affected area was much smaller than the area shown by him; even then
he went to wash it.
The student amazingly asked, “Sir, that day you told us that if the filth is not
significantly large there is no need to clean. But today you have washed the dirt
though it was too small.”
The Teacher politely replied “My dear child when you enquired about it as a
student of Fikkah (Islamic jurisprudence) I had to tell you the verdict of the Lord.
It is the command; but the demand of piety is to washout even the smallest dirt.

Lesson No. 28 G.G. AND C.J.
During the Oath Taking Ceremony after Pakistan came into being, when the first
G.G. (Governor General) of Pakistan, M.A Jinnah, headed towards the seat of
Governor General to be seated, the first C.J.(Chief Justice), Justice Sir Abdul
Rashid stopped him saying, “You cannot take that seat before the oath”.
The questions arise:

1. Was the Governor General, (who himself was the custodian of Law)
oblivious about the protocol.
2. He did it on purpose to check as to what extent the C.J. would exercise his
powers.
3. Did he want to show that the judiciary in Pakistan would be independent
and would not allow discrepancy and that nobody would be above law
including the G.G.

Alas! After his death, the first Prime Minister was assassinated, the second was
deposed and since then the country was hijacked by the conspirators who
appointed a bureaucrat Ghulam Mohammed as Governor General. Since then
Governor Generals were replaced by Generals as Governor General and then as
President.
Similarly after Justice Sir Abdul Rashid the nation experienced notorious judges
like Justice Munir, who introduced the law of necessity.
The founder of Pakistan had mentioned clearly that the judiciary would be
sovereign but unfortunately his dream did not come true.
It is the irony that we as Pakistanis do not lack in having traitors and hypocrites
among us, who are also expert even in changing the speeches of the founder and
making it suitable or beneficial for them.
Out of one of his speeches these traitors have drawn their own inferences to
prove that the founder was Secular, they do not mention any of his speeches in
which he clearly had mentioned about the Muslim state. There is not a single
speech on his account in which he had ever used the word ´Secularism’, as if he
wanted to have secularism but was ignorant of the word.

79
EXERCISE NO. 28
Q.1. What difference it would have been if the Founder had had taken the chair

the court. Despite this refusal the Prime Minister Liaquat Ali Khan did not file
any reference against the C.J. Was it because:
A). The P.M. was not Shoukat Aziz. B). President was not Musharraf Pervez
C). There was Rule of Law. D). All of these.
Q.3. Mr. Jinnah was offered to be the Prime Minister of Undivided India provided
he withdrew his demand for Pakistan.
( 1) Was that a trap for Mr. Jinnah (2) Was that an honest offer

Q.4. Sindh had the Muslim Majority then why in the entire Sindh, Muslims did not
have immovable Properties. Buildings having names SITA NIVAS, PARTAB
MAHAL and LAJPAT LODGE were commonly seen before Partition.

used to do:
(a) He would wash it. (b) He would throw it. (c) He would not do any thing

Lesson No. 29 THE DISAPPOINTMENT
Majid was perturbed on being received by the maid servant when he reached
home. Usually his wife Zahra opened the door for him.
He asked the maid, “where is Zahra. Is she all right?
“Yes Sir, she is all right; just gone to Dr. Shaista, living next door.”
“Why? Is something wrong”
“Nothing to worry sir, the doctor’s servant came. Doctor had called her” the maid
answered, “I was in the kitchen; Madam told me she was going to the doctor’s flat
and asked me to take care of the doorbell as it was the time for you to come”.
Majid was a bit confused; it was the first time he was not welcomed by his wife in
the last eight months, since his marriage. He asked the maid for the tea and
retired to change his dress.
As he was changing, he heard Zahra calling him eagerly, “Where are you Majid. I
have news.” Hurriedly Majid came out of the room to see Zahra blushing with joy.
“Where were you, I was worried not to see you at the door”.
“The maid might have told you; I had been to Dr. Shaista, she had called me”.
“Yes the maid told me; but why at this hour? Is something important?”
Zahra cheerfully replied, “Yes it is important indeed, rather happy news. A new
member is joining our family”. On hearing this Majid jumped out happily and
asked, “Really? How did you know? Did the doctor inform you”?
“No. Mother rang from Islamabad. Our Phone was out of order therefore she
called me on Doctor’s Number. She is reaching at 10.am, the day after tomorrow
by the express train. Oh! Majid how sweet?” Overwhelmingly she continued, “She
would be living with us; you know due to bhabi’s (brother’s wife) attitude, it has
become difficult for her to live with her, therefore she has decided to live with us.
O Majid, is not that great”.
Majid was nearly breathless on hearing this, but managed to hide his feeling,
“Yes, but …oh, I had misunderstood.. I mean… I thought...” Majid helplessly
cutting the discussion, asked the maid for the tea. He was feeling as if a capsule of
“Quinine” has melted in his mouth.

Lesson No. 30 WITHOUT ABLUTION
An Islamic Missionary Team reached a far flung small village. Though there was a
Masjid (MOSQUE) but was in a miserable condition. It was evident that since long
it was not used for offering prayers. The inhabitants of the village were Muslims
but for name’s sake. Due to Illiteracy, Ignorance & Poverty they had no interest in
Religion or social activities. One can say they were non- practicing Muslims.
There were a couple of veterans who would keep the Islamic tradition and
command of saying AZAN (Holy Words Used to call Muslims for prayers) in the
ears of newly born (it’s an Islamic tradition). At the funerals the Maulana from a
nearby town would be called for the final services of the deceased.
The mission comprised of few youngsters .The Mission stayed there for some
time and tried to incline the villagers towards the religion. They taught them the
ways to perform ablution (Islamic way of Cleaning Oneself before offering
prayers) and how to pray. They were told that WUDU (ablution) was mandatory
for Prayers.
To incline the villagers for prayers the missionaries told them that if they would
offer prayers for at least 40 days they would be benefitted tremendously. The
mission had had in mind that if they would offer prayers for 40 days regularly a
habit of offering prayers would be developed in them. On the other end the
villagers were looking forward to the benefits they would get after 40 days.
The mission left the village, after a week and the villagers continued praying.
After the 40th day when they did not see any significant change or any benefit,
they gathered to discuss the matter. They were of the opinion that the Religious
clerics had be fooled them. One old man imitated the members, “you will be
benefitted within 40 days” then said, “…..liars they were… …up till now I have not
been benefited by a damn penny, pooh.”
The other exclaimed, “Unnecessarily…. they wasted our time…!”
Another bitterly announced, “How innocent they looked? Cheaters were they?”

83
One old man mimicked the member of the mission, “WUDU is essential for
Praying. Do not forget ablution!” then reported, “I was having ablution with cold
water in these winters five times a day. Hell with them.” Another old man who
was listening to them patiently, gave a sigh of relief and consoled himself,
“Thanks God, they could not fooled me. I had not prayed according to their
wishes. I had also deceived them by offering prayers without ablution!”

Lesson NO.31 THE TRAVELER PRIEST
The Village was about a mile away from the Bus stop on the highway. Being so far
from the village, the only time, the bus stop become lively and full of people, was
when a bus would make a short stay at the stop. This stop was between the two
towns, and either way, the running time of the bus was about two hours, which
made it essential to have a stay of ten to fifteen minutes, so that passengers may
get down to refresh or to stretch their legs. Some passengers would go for tea or
snacks. Others would head to the washroom.
Government had erected a tin shade under which there was a tea stall, serving
tea and snacks. In a corner was a partitioned place which served as toilet. Two or
three benches were kept for the passengers who waited for the bus to come.
These passengers usually come by horse cart from the two nearby villages in
order to catch the bus.
Outside the shade, a barber was also available under a huge tree, to give a rapid
hair cut or shaving to passengers who had enough time to avail the service. A fruit
vendor was also having a good business by selling the seasonal fruit. In addition to
these three, wooden cabins of different commodities also facilitated the
passengers to meet their requirements.
Two or three horse carts were available to bring or to take passengers from the
bus stop to the villages.
Daily eight to ten times before the arrival of the buses, the stop would become
busy. All the horse carts bringing in passengers would wait for passenger coming
by the bus to take them to their destinations.
All the shopkeepers, horse cart drivers and some of the regular passengers had
voluntarily cleaned a portion outside the shade and demarcated it by bricks to be
used for prayers. The travelers usually prayed Qasr, if it was time to pray, in that
place reserved for praying.
Qasr Prayers is a concession given to travelers to shorten their prayers once they
commence their journey. This Shortening is called NAMAZ QASR. This concession
from Allah is a charity for the Muslims and is mandatory. This concession is not for
the residents. Therefore it is discouraged either to follow the resident or the
resident to follow the traveler in congregational prayer as the resident has to
85
offer full prayer. Despite the clear instructions the illiterate and ignorant commit
mistakes. Once a Molvi (preacher) from the nearby village was waiting for the last
bus to the city; the shopkeeper and other villagers thought to pray in
congregation. They requested the Molvi to lead the prayers.
The Molvi informed them he was a traveler and the residents are not allowed to
follow the traveler in prayers. The illiterate did not accept the excuse and
compelled him to lead. The Molvi told them “The Bus is due and as it is the last
bus, the driver may not wait long; and if I miss I would be in trouble.” The villagers
did not want to lose the opportunity of praying in congregation forced the Molvi
to lead the prayers. Unwillingly the Molvi started the prayer and while they were
in midst of the prayers the bus arrived.
When the Molvi bowed down to prostrate, the driver honked, announcing the
departure. The Molvi was compelled to slip away unceremoniously while the
congregation was in the prostrated state. As the command to rise did not come
from the Molvi, the prostration took more time than usual; one of the villagers
raised his head to find that the Molvi had left silently leaving them in prostration.
He urgently gave the command to rise and discontinue the prayer as the prayer
was disrupted on Molvi’s departure. The prayer was then offered individually, but
a good many passengers missed the bus due to the shopkeepers who had insisted
the Molvi for the congregational prayer.

Lesson NO.32 OBEDIENCE
Abdul Quddus was a thorough gentleman, a perfect practicing Muslim. He was
always ready to help any needy person without discrimination. He was very
friendly to everyone and earned his living through righteous means. He was
respected and loved by his neighbors, colleagues and relatives. In short he could
be called a fundamentalist Muslim.
The Almighty Allah had also blessed him with all His comforts and favors; good
and obedient wife, well behaved children and flourishing business. One can say he
had no worries of any sort. But as it is said Allah testifies his good people, this
could have been the reason that one of his sons got indulged in bad company. He
visited an immodest singer-dancing girl and spent a lot of money on her at every
visit. For such persons it is justifiably said “A Satan has taken birth in an Angel’s
house.”
The pious Abdul Quddus would have remained oblivious to his son’s satanic
activities but one day a well-wisher hesitantly asked Abdul Quddus , “Brother, if
you do not be angry , may I tell you something”. Abdul Quddus questioned him,
“Have you ever seen me angry, you may speak without fear”. The well-wisher
said, “Actually it is about your son Zahid, who is involved in some unpleasant
activities. He, along with his friends, has been seen visiting an immodest woman,
living across the road”. On hearing this poor Abdul Quddus was left dumbfounded
for a moment, but instantly recovered and controlling his feelings thanked the
friend and said, “ May Allah bless you for informing me. I shall be highly obliged if
you will let me know when he visits her”. The friend replied, “Oh. No it is no
obligation, it is my duty, and after all he is my nephew”.
Two days later the friend returned and informed that the son was in the woman’s
flat. Abdul Quddus and his friend hurriedly reached to the building in which the
woman dwelled. They got a place just in front of the stairs and waited for the son
to come down. Abdul Quddus asked his friend to keep away his eyes from the
stairs and act as if they had met there by chance. Their position was such that
anyone coming down from the staircase would notice them at once.

88
After an hour Abdul Quddus, from the corner of eye saw his son coming down
but the moment he saw the father, rushed back up the stairs.
Abdul Quddus, seeing his son rushing back, sighed in pleasure and left for home.
On the way back he told his friend “Thank God, he is not completely ruined
INSHA ALLAH (by the grace of God) he will revert”. The friend not understanding
anything looked at him questioningly. Abdul Quddus explained, “My son is not
ruined completely, had he had, he would not have fled upstairs fearfully on seeing
me. It means he is fearful, otherwise he could have come down and met me
squarely. ALLAH MAY BLESS us all”.

EXERCISE NO. 32
Q.1. If the son was completely ruined, he would have confronted his father
A) TRUE B) FALSE

Q.2. Would it not have been better if the son had told his father, “what’s wrong in
it if I just go there and listen her singing.”

Q.3. Islam asks to forgive those who had apologized for their misdoings in past,
then why Muslims criticize people for their past activities.
(a). They are Ignorant to Islamic Teachings.
(b). They are under influence of others.

Q.3.The political leaders blame the opponents, to project themselves. Is it not

better to high light their own programs to attract people.
A. YES B. NO.

89
Lesson No.33 GOODS ONCE SOLD
It has been noticed in Europe that mostly people wish each other ‘hello or ‘hi’
when they meet, regardless whether they know each other. Islam asks to be the
first in wishing the other. As a rule it suggests the one approaching should wish;
the one standing should wish the one sitting and so on but it is preferable to be
the first irrespective of age, color or religion.
It is strange that though, this is one of the basic teachings of Islam, the Muslims in
Pakistan, have forgotten this. Now if one wishes Salam, the other person looks at
him with astonishment. Some people on being wished become doubtful, fearing
that he might be looking for some assistance. It is a pity that the one wishing is
taken to be a poor or needy.
An, other Islamic law is also in practice in Europe. Islam suggests shopkeepers not
to delay in taking sold goods back if the customer wants to return. This law/ rule
of taking back the goods sold is in practice in America and Europe. Yes the
earrings, undergarments and socks are not taken back and that has a solid reason.
In Pakistan one comes across notices in the shops which read, ‘Goods once sold
will not be taken back’; it does not mean that shops not carrying such notice
would take the goods back. The irony is that most of the people do not know that
it is against the will of the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH). I myself did not know
about it till I came across the following incident.
A large construction company had purchased bamboos for demarcating the lands.
After utilizing, some of the bamboos were found in excess. The owner asked his
manager to return these. The manager was warmly welcomed by the seller. The
manager hesitatingly, informed the seller that he had come to return the left over
bamboos. The Seller happily said, “Why not? There is no problem”, then he
ordered his workers to unload the truck and asked his accountant to calculate and
return the Money. The manager eagerly said, “Sir I am sorry for bothering you”.
On hearing this, the seller said, ‘please do not say this; actually you have given me
a chance to carry out one of the commands of our Prophet (PBUH). It is his will to
take the goods back if the customer does not require it.”
This is an exemplary incident, which is generally not experienced in our country.
The question arises why it is so? But please hold on before you answer this. First
90
listen to the following story.
In Pakistan it’s a pity that some of the Pakistani families are influenced by Bharati
Culture. In marriages the ceremonies are carried out for three to four days. In
such a ceremony a woman got introduced to another; as the intimacy increased
she informed that she is befooling a jeweler. The first day of this marriage
ceremony, she bought an imitated jewelry set and after using it she got it changed
and wore that on the second day. She proudly said “Again I got it changed it for
the one I am wearing today. In this way I am daily changing the sets and creating
an impression of having many sets.
Tomorrow is the last day of these ceremonies and I will get it changed and wear
the new set tomorrow”. By chance the other woman happened to be the wife of a
jeweler who owned the imitated jewelry shop; she curiously asked the name of
the jeweler and learnt that it was her husband, being fooled or cheated. She did
not reveal her relationship with the jeweler. On returning home she told the
story to her husband. Now this jeweler was an honest person and would not
refuse to change the goods sold but on learning the cunningness of this lady
customer vouched not to take or change the goods sold and he also placed a
notice in his shop saying, “Goods once sold will not be taken back”.

EXERCISE NO.33
Q.1. Is the cunningness of the customers is the reason of deviation from Islamic
Teachings

Q.2. Do the Europeans have Foolish shopkeepers in abundance or they are

lacking in having cunning customers.

Q.3. If the bamboo seller is having business in accord to Islamic teaching, in what
category the Jeweler fells.

Lesson No. 34 DISCIPLINE
Under the British rule there was a Mosque in the center of Bhindi Bazaar,
Bombay. Adjacent to the mosque, in a place of 3ft. by 3ft. was a Hindu Temple,
just having an idol of Rama Chandra (the god). Passerby Hindus stopped there to
venerate the god and go. Some would put flowers, sweetmeat or lit a DIYA (a tiny
earthen lamp) at the feet of the idol, as a gift.
In the vicinity the majority of the inhabitants were Muslims therefore a large
number of Muslims would gather five times a day, in the mosque to offer prayer
in congregation. It is mandatory to inform the followers about the prayers by
Azan. (The muezzin narrates loudly verses in Arabic to inform the Muslims that it
is the time for prayers, usually the call is given from the minaret of the Mosque.
This takes hardly two to three minutes).
A few Hindu organizations joined their hands together and purchased the
building, with the temple at its corner. Their intention was to build a large Rama
Mundir( the temple where worshiping and sacred songs are sung round the
clock). It was not a well-intentioned move but to hurt the Muslim feelings and to
create disturbance in their prayers.
To carry on with their plan they moved the Idol of Rama to the big hall of the
building and added few more idols of their gods. The Muslims, perceiving their
intentions got the stay order from the court to stop the erection of Rama Mundir.
The Hindu organizations reacted to the order and for the sake of law and order
the British Government deputed police force at the Mosque and under
construction Mundir. The Muslims were not against the construction of Mundir,
but they objected for Rama Mundir where the Bhajans (sacred songs of Hindus)
would be sung day and night. This objection was genuine as it would cause
disturbance during their prayers. Hindus point of view was contrary to that; their
point of view was that the loud call of Azan would disturb their Bhajan.
The matter was sensitive and became serious as all the Hindu Organizations and
wealthy Hindus stood up against Muslims with a new claim that their Mundir was
an ancient one and the Mosque was recently constructed.
It was the time when the interim Government was in office. The congress party
was in majority in the interim Government, therefore politically the Hindus were
92
much stronger than the Muslim league. The only consolation to Muslims was that
the British had not left and were in power. As the issue was very sensitive a British
Magistrate was deputed to investigate thoroughly. The Magistrate visited the
Mundir. A warm welcome was given. The Magistrate examined the Mundir and
asked the Mundir committee to exhibit how they worship and sing Bhajan. The
committee ordered the Pundits (the Hindu preachers) to carry on the Bhajans and
worshiping. The Gopies (the singing and dancing girls) started singing. During their
songs the bells continuously tolled.
After this the Magistrate went to the mosque. He was greeted by the Mosque
Committee at the doorstep of the Mosque. The Magistrate and his assistants
were asked to take off their shoes before entering. They all went in bare footed
and examined the Mosque and asked the committee to give azan.
The committee informed him as it was not the time for prayers therefore the azan
cannot be given. The magistrate was astonished and inquired “Can’t you give azan
any time of the day”. The committee reported, “No sir, except five times a day,
when the prayers are due, we cannot give azan”.
The Magistrate submitted the report and the trial begun. In view of the
magistrate’s report the judge gave his ruling in favor of Muslims. He wrote in his
judgment, “The timings for prayers are fixed and considering their discipline, it is
observed that their prayers cannot be a source of disturbance in adoration of any
one; as the Hindus do not have fixed timings for their bhajan and adoration they
are advised not to worship or sing bhajan when Muslims are praying. It is
therefore ordered that Hindus can have a Mundir there but not the Rama Mundir,
where bhajan would be sung the whole day and night”.

Lesson No. 35 THE COLLECTOR OF “SAWAAB”
(Sawaab is Requital from Allah in return to any good deed)
About 40 persons attending the marriage procession had to stay overnight at the
bride’s house after the nuptial. Forty beds were laid down in a big hall. After the
Wedding Feast, all the guests retired to bed. The Host had put a big container of
iced water in the hall if anyone felt thirsty.
At late hours one young man got up to have water. He very silently, not to disturb
others’ sleep went to the container and had a glass of water, as he was putting
the glass back, it rattled and the noise though very meek, was enough to wake an
old man up, who asked, “who is near the water”. “It’s me, Abdul, grand pa”
replied the young man softly. The old man requested, “Oh dear get me some
water, you will get sawaab for it”. Abdul gave the water and as he was putting the
glass back, another man inquired, “Who is near the container”. Abdul in a very
low voice informed, “Uncle it’s me Abdul”. The Uncle said, “Son, please get me a
glass, you will be awarded sawaab”. Abdul, though very sleepy but managed to
hand over the glass to him but again a voice asked him the same question, and
requesting for water, said the same thing that he would be rewarded sawaab by
the Almighty for this Kindness. This time it was his father who blessed him for the
sawaab.
Now it happened that about ten people, without realizing that he was tired and
sleepy, one after the other had had water and all of them, prophesized he would
be awarded sawaab ( Reward from Allah) for serving them water.
Abdul being an obedient and courteous person could not refuse his uncles, grand
pa and father but was getting irritated when unluckily his younger brother asked,
“Who is there near the water”. Abdul listening to this suddenly broke out and
sarcastically exclaimed, “It’s Me, Abdul, the Collector of sawaab! do you want to
have some, come and take the charge!!”

Lesson No. 36 MASTER IS MASTER
Ustaad Bundey Ali was a skilled swords man of a very high repute. He was an
instructor, teaching fencing to army men of the Raja. There was not a sole in the
State of Raja, who could match his skills of swordsmanship. Due to his skills and
fine attitude he was not only respected but loved by all the army men including
the Raja.
One of his students was very brilliant. Noticing his aptitude for learning, Bundey
Ali gave him undue attentions, enabling him to become an expert in sword
fighting in a very short span of time. Now this student soldier turned out to be an
ignoble and ambitious person. Seeing that there was no one comparable to his
caliber in the state, he challenged the instructor to have a duel with him. Bundey
Ali was amazed and a bit perturbed because at this age he lacked in agility which
the young man possessed.
When the news reached Raja he was very much annoyed and wanted to arrest
the young soldier but Bundey requested the Raja to pardon the soldier. He said,
“No sir, this will bring bad name to the instructors; you better announce the date
for the duel, with the condition that sword would be the only weapon; however
there would be no restriction for its size. And Sir, also make it clear that the duel
would continue till the death of one of us.” He also suggested the duel to be
scheduled after 15 days.
The student soldier was summoned and was told about the date, the weapon to
be used, and that there would be no restriction for the size of the swords. He was
also informed that fight would continue till the death of one of the participant.
The soldier was happy because he was sure about his winning the duel. He was
dreaming to take the position of the instructor in Raja’s court after the death of
the teacher.
With the announcement of the date, both the rivals went on to prepare for the
duel. The mean student deputed his companions to keep an eye on the activities
of the Master. He learnt that the master was making a scabbard of about six feet
long. They all laughed at the foolishness of the master who could not keep the
secret of his strategy. They at once concluded that as the master had grown old
he intended to use a very long sword to kill the soldier before he would come
97
near to him. The soldier at once ordered to make a sword of seven feet to meet
the master squarely. The soldier was pleased with himself to have deputed his
friends to sneak around the Master. The friends joked that how Bundey Ali would
be flabbergasted on seeing a sword larger than his own.
On the day of the bout the arena was over crowded than usual. Raja took his seat
and both the swordsmen entered the arena. All the people were amazed to see
both were carrying scabbard much larger than the normal size. Raja and the
entire subjects were sad for the old man. They once again tried to convince the
young one to withdraw but he insisted to fight to show his skill and strength. With
a heavy heart the Raja ordered them to get in the center of the arena and wait for
the signal.
The Raja took out the kerchief and held it above his head to drop. All eyes were
set on the Kerchief. The Swords men dragging their scabbards came near to each
other and shook hands and turned towards the Raja.
The Raja looked at them sadly, and dropped the kerchief. The swords men turned
to make room and started to take their swords from the scabbard. While the
soldier was still pulling up out his lengthy sword from the scabbard, the Master, in
a flick of a second drew out his sword of ordinary length from the oversized
scabbard and chopped off the soldier head, before he realized what was
happening.
While the crowd was shouting cheerfully, the Raja turned to his subjects and
uttered, “Master is Master, after all”.

There was something wrong with the weather cock on the steeple of the church.
Joseph, the crafts man was working on its mechanism. The Friar of the church,
Rev Father was walking to and fro. Every now and then he stopped to look at
Joseph. He was afraid that Joseph might slip and fall.
A few children were playing in the ground. The Sunday service was just over;
some of the people were still present there, chatting with each other when
somehow or the other Joseph tumbled down with a thud but fortunately fell on
the heap of sand which was there for some construction work.
Hearing Joseph’s yell while falling, all and sundry rushed towards the heap of sand
to help. The Father also reached there to find that Joseph was unhurt due to the
heap of Sand, but was a bit confounded. He just to console Joseph, said, “Son, the
GOD was with you”. Joseph excitedly replied “Yes Father, I also think there was
someone who pushed me down”.

Lesson No.38 ILLUSION
Rashid and Ashraf were friends since their childhood. Being neighbors, they used
to be with each other throughout the day. One can say they parted only to sleep.
Though their thoughts and believes were identical, but they differed in their
political views. Rashid had soft corner for Indian National Congress and Ashraf
believed in All India Muslim League.
Rashid was impressed with Maulana Abul Kalam Azad and Maulana Madani who
were against the partition and believed Hindu and Muslims were ONE NATION,
whereas Ashraf was of the opinion that Hindus and Muslims cannot live together.
In Past they had lived together but either in Muslim Kingdom or under British
Rule. He tried to convince Rashid logically and by providing evidence but in vain.
Such strong was Rashid’s belief in Hindu Muslim Unity that he even ignored the
massacre of Muslims in Banaras on the issue of cow slaughtering, which was in
practice for hundreds of years, but the issue was raised as if the cow was
slaughtered for the first time.
Ashraf pointed out that this occurred during Congress Rule. He said, ‘Hundreds of
Muslims were killed for slaughtering a cow and this happened in the interim
government under British Rule. Can you imagine what would have been the fate
of Muslims, had had the English handed over the Government to the Congress.”
Though his arguments carried weightage, but Rashid remained unconvinced.
While both these friends could not convinced each other, the creation of Pakistan
was announced, which triggered the Hindu Muslim riots. Hindus were attacking
Muslims’ localities and Muslims were attacking Hindus’.
Ashraf advised Rashid to take care while going through Hindu populated areas. To
his advice Rashid laughed and said, “Don’t worry, I am a member of Congress,
they would not harm me.”
Ashraf replied, “Hindus will not consider whether you are the supporter of
Congress; for them you are a Muslim and they won’t spare you, why don’t you
understand” Rashid did not agree with him and instead made fun of him.
One night both the friends were returning home. They had to pass through a
Hindu inhabited area. Rashid was confident that the Hindus would not try to
attack them, but contrary to his expectations, three or four young boys having
100
daggers in their hands called them to stop. Sensing their intentions both of them
ran away as fast as they could. The attackers started following them. The
attackers were on their heels when they entered the colony of Jain, a sect of
Hindus who believe killing of any living thing is a sin. Ashraf tried to persuade
Rashid not to stop there as the Jain were of the same breed and cannot be relied
upon. But Rashid did not agree and told that the Jain do not kill even an insect. As
Rashid did not listen to him, Ashraf headed towards a big tree and climbed up. He
concealed himself in the branches and peeped out to see Rashid asking for safety.
The Jain welcomed him and asked him in the house and to go under the bedstead
covered by a bed sheet. When Rashid safely got under the bed, Ashraf felt guilty
for doubting Jain. He was thinking to get down and take refuge with the Jain when
the attackers entered the colony and asked if they had seen Two Muslims. All the
Jain told them they had not seen any one coming. As the attackers were
preparing to leave, the owner of the house who had hided Rashid, said, “Though I
have not seen any one but you may take a look around in my house. To be sure
you can search under the bed too.’’
On getting this commotion the attackers entered the house and located Rashid.
Ashraf was breathless when they pulled Rashid out and raised slogans against
Pakistan and Muslims. They were dancing and raising their weapons when by the
grace of Allah an Army truck came there to find the reason for such an uproar and
tumult. Seeing the army, the attackers fled away and Rashid was rescued. Ashraf
climbed down and both were taken away safely.
This incident helped Rashid in changing his views about the congress and the
Hindus. Though Ashraf had failed to convince Rashid with his logical arguments
but one practical experience taught him the lesson. Then Rashid developed
enmity against the Nationalist Muslims, including Maulana Azad (the show boy of
congress as called by Mr. Jinnah) more than Ashraf.

Lesson NO. 39 THE RACKET OF A JACKET
The city was terrified of suicide bombers. People were fed up of listening to the
stories of Suicidal bombers and their jackets. One could easily be frightened on
sighting someone with a jacket on. The Government was trying hard to meet the
terrorist squarely. The diehard policemen were putting all their efforts to catch
these enemies of the country. Police and security guards were deployed at public
places particularly the shrines and places of prayers and worship.
A large number of pilgrims were frequenting a shrine. At the gate four policemen
were smartly checking each and every visitant, particularly those who were either
wearing a jacket or were shrouded in a shawl. Any one carrying a container
(basket, a bag or packet) of any sort was not allowed to enter without getting it
checked.
This job became tedious due to the winter season. People visiting the shrine were
either in pull overs, coats, jackets or in shawls. Pilgrims were also having packets
of flowers, garlands and sweets to be presented at the shrine.
At the late hours when the policemen were wearily checking the visitors a young
man appeared at the scene. His attire and the paper bag he was carrying was
enough to make him suspicious as he was fully shrouded in a shawl. The police
man struck the paper bag twice with his baton. With each stroke the paper bag
sounded a peculiar noise “puch”, simultaneously the young man cried out of grief
“ooohooo”. The policeman asked him, “What is there in it”? The young man
looked at the Policeman helplessly and cried, “NOTHING! Now there is nothing in
it; before you hit, there were four dozen eggs in it, but now…nothing”. Hearing
this people standing nearby roared with laughter. The Policeman got puzzled at
this situation but at once asked the young man to remove his Shawl. As the shawl
was removed, the jacket worn under it was visible which frightened all standing
near. The Policemen were frightened at the sight of the jacket but ordered him to
take off the jacket. The man looked at them gloomily, slowly got hold of the Zip of
the jacket and before unzipping said, “Bismillah (In the Name of ALLAH, The
most….)” on hearing this all including the four police man fled away. Meanwhile
the man unzipped the jacket and pulled it off to hand it over to the police but
they had run away. After reaching at safe distance they turned to see that the
103
young man was standing there shivering, with the jacket in his hand. They turned
back a bit ashamed and enquired him why he recited Bismillah Al Rehman (In the
name of ALLAH). The young man innocently told them that it was his habit to
recite these words before commencing anything.

Lesson No. 40 BED TEA
Mike and Jenny were brought up in an orphanage. Please do not be
misunderstood by orphanage. It is not similar to orphanage, where orphans are
trained for begging and live a miserable life. This orphan house was in London and
was well managed where the orphans were facilitated to get proper education
and live a respectable life.
Mike and Jenny grew up together, did graduation and now both were employed
in a large firm. As per rule of the orphanage, they had to leave the house within
three months of their employment. As both were friends since their childhood,
they had developed a relationship and were fond of each other. They decided to
have a flat and live together. Their salary was more than their requirements, so
there was no problem and both were living happily.
Jenny used to get up early and prepared bed tea and then wake up Mike to have
tea together. After Tea they helped each other in preparing the breakfast and
would have breakfast, and then they used to get ready for the office.
They took lunch in the office canteen and brought grocery on way back home.
Both used to prepare dinner daily and after dinner would perambulate. This was
daily routine but Saturdays and Sundays were either for outing or to visit friends.
Once in a month they invited their friends and colleagues from the office and the
whole day was spent in eating, dancing or playing cards.
Without any change in this routine five years passed away happily. Jenny was so
particular in attending and serving him, that there was not a single day when he
had had ever to ask even for a cup of tea.
One day while walking in the garden, much to her astonishment, Mike said,
“Darling, we are living together for about five years, would it not be appropriate if
we go to the church and get married.” Jenny laughed at this idea and replied,
“Why dear, we are living happily. Have you any complaint against me or have you
experienced lacking in my love for you?” Mike abruptly said “Oh, No, no dear,
absolutely not.” The discussion ended for the day, but now off and on, Mike tried
to persuade Jenny for the marriage. She would laugh and refute his proposal. She
would say, “Why is it necessary to accept in front of the priest; we are what we
are; living happily”.
106
Then Mike insisted upon his proposal so much that one day jenny agreed to him.
One Sunday they invited their friends and went to the church to be declared wife
and husband. Till late night they enjoyed dinner and dance with their friends.
In the morning Mike got up to see that jenny was still sleeping. This was for the
first time during last 5 years that Jenny did not get up before him to bring bed tea
for him. He was worried for maybe she was ill. Very slowly he called, “Darling, are
you alright? You did not wake me up nor prepare tea” Jenny turned in the bed,
opened her eyes and smiled at him, “Darling I am fine, Will you please not give a
cup of tea to you dear wife.” She turned to other side and closed her eyes.

Lesson No. 41 THE WAY JESUS EAT
It is not understood why our so called intellectuals, Journalists and the officials of
Quaid-e-Azam Academy do not highlight the worth mentioning matters related to
Mr. Jinnah , the founder of Pakistan. One is the last interview of Mountbatten,
recorded by BBC, sometimes before his assassination, in which he had praised Mr.
Jinnah, despite his hatred for Mr. Jinnah.
The second is the following event which appears in a book, published by a
publisher in Calcutta in 1935.
A lord invited all the Indian leaders for a dinner when they were in London to
attend a political conference. The lord was intimated to these leaders as he had
lived in India for long.
Among the invitees was, M.A. Jinnah who was not Quaid-e-Azam by that time and
had not risen to that position of leadership which he got latter on. Others present
were Jawaharlal Nehru, some other Political leaders, the members of British
Parliament and other eminent figures from the elite class of England.
A lavish dinner was arranged. While the guests were helping themselves with the
spoons, fork and knives, the host very casually asked, “Do the people still eat with
their hands in India”. Silence fell upon the gathering. The lord did not realize the
sensitivity of the question. Noticing the seriousness, Nehru, just to diffuse the
seriousness, opened his mouth to say, “My lord, as you know that it’s the matter
of culture and class. The masses do eat with hands but…”.Mr. Jinnah very coldly
interrupted and said, “Yes Sir, they used their hands to eat exactly in manner as
Jesus Christ would eat”. On hearing this, the lord was a bit slighted.

been highlighted in papers
Q.3. The Quaid’s Speeches are wrongly interpreted by the so called intellectuals;
Is it not possible to order to give the original script and to refrain from
interpretation.
Q.4. The lord Mountbatten admitted that GANDHI and Congress put together
could not match Jinnah; then why is Gandhi highlighted more by media.

Q.5. Even in Pakistan book stalls display books on Gandhi, Nehru, Indira Gandhi at
prominent places, whereas books on Jinnah are either not available or not
displayed.

Q.6. The Subcontinent was Hindustan during Mughals and other Muslim Rulers;
It was India under British Rule, then why is it not called Bharat now.

109
Lesson No. 42 HISTORICAL EVENTS
My father was a king, is an idiom, used when somebody boast about his
ancestors. Your father was a king! But what are you? This is the irony with our
nation. It says our leaders were great, men of principles, disciplined, honest; for
the sake of People they spent their wealth. They did not fear anyone except
ALLAH. They had faith in ALLAH.
Okay, True. They were! But what about the present ones; do they possess the
similar qualities.
Now days our Politicians are not like Mr. Jinnah and his team therefore they are
sabotaging their work. They do not high light their deed; they are trying to hide
the work done in past.
History depends on the historian, to what extent he is unbiased; it also depends
on his qualification, dedication and knowledge and research. If he himself is
having a fake degree, one can very well assess the caliber of his work. And
unfortunately if he happens to be a paid subject of the government then the
History of Pakistan would be also mutilated as the History of Islam in which every
sect had introduced its own point of view in such a way that it has become
impossible to reach the truth.
For an event there are innumerous interpretations. Ghazi Salahuddin (SALADIN)
was Muslim Hero but for Christians he was a bandit. Christian Historians have
portrayed him as a villain.
Sultan Ghori and Mahmoud Ghaznavi were heroes for Muslims but their rivals,
Prithavi Raj and Bala di Baji Rao were heroes for Hindus. It is difficult to believe
History; how can one differentiate true and false.
Keeping in view the shortcoming of History, produced below are some factual
events, narrated without amendments or judgment to be judged by the readers.

 THE SLAP
Begum and Maulana Husrat Muhani were leaders of Congress. The begum
used to attend the party meeting in veil. Once during her speech, Nehru did
something which offended the Begum so much that she slapped him.

110
This was the same Nehru who became First Prime Minister of Bharat and
who did not permit plebiscite in Kashmir as per resolution passed in UNO as
a result Kashmir has become the main cause of dispute between Bharat
and Pakistan; and the supreme irony is that the UNO is unable to
implement its orders till date.

 THE KICK
Suharwardi, one of the companions of Quaid, a great leader and ex-prime
minister of Pakistan was in bed due to illness. He was from East Pakistan
and had been dethroned from his office as Prime Minister by the Usurpers.
The East Pakistanis were annoyed and were developing hatred for West
Pakistanis. Mr. Suharwardi was in bed and Sheikh Mujeeb –ur- Rehman, a
party worker was massaging his legs. While chatting, Mujeeb suggested
Suharwardi for independence of East Pakistan. On hearing this
Mr. Suharwardi got annoyed and kicked down Mujeeb from the bed.

 THE BLOW
Later on, one by one all the patriots disappeared from the scene and the
conspirators and usurpers took over Pakistan. The Patriot Suharwardi who
had kicked the traitor Mujeeb died mysteriously in exile in Beirut.
Conspirators succeeded in making East Pakistan an independent state
as Bangladesh.
All those involved in making Bangladesh had had to pay for this sin.
Not only Mujeeb the founder of Bangladesh was killed along with his entire
family except a daughter Haseena Wajid but others who supported him
directly or indirectly also lost their lives along with their family members.

111
EXERCISE NO.42

soft corner for Bharat.

Lesson No. 43 THE MILK DRINKING LOVER
Out of all the lovers of Romantic stories I am inspired by KAIS (known as Majnu
meaning Mad) of LAILA & MAJNU. The first Romantic story I read was Romeo and
Juliet. After that I saw a film SASSI & PUNNU, but neither Romeo nor Punnu
inspired me. Then though I came across many other lovers but it was Majnu who
inspired me. The reason may be that he belonged to a poor class. He was very
popular among young generation. If any young boy was seen in the vicinity of
girls’ college, he would be taunted “look at this Majnu”; “see the Majnu has come
out of his grave”.
In the legend of LAILA & MAJNU, Majnu was portrayed as a wretched person in
torn clothes, bleeding from head as children stoned him unnecessarily. He was in
deep love with Laila, so much so that he became mentally unbalanced and Laila’s
father refused to marry Laila to a mad man. Ultimately Laila got married to
another person and left with her husband to another city and Majnu fled to the
jungle.
One day Laila’s friends saw a tramp that looked like Majnu, sitting under a tree
outside the city. The girls reported Laila that they had seen Majnu in a worsen
condition. Laila saddened on learning this asked them to take a bowl of milk to
Majnu. The friends took the milk to the tramp and told him that Laila had sent it
for her Majnu.
Majnu took the bowl hurriedly, gulped it down and went to sleep. Next day again,
a bowl was sent which met the same fate. After sending milk for consecutive
three days, Laila got suspicious that he could not be her lover who would so
greedily drink the milk and would not demand to see her. This was not expected
from her insane lover. She called her friends, handed them an empty bowl and
told them to ask him to give his blood in this bowl for her beloved Laila. The
tramp, seeing the empty bowl, and hearing the demand, got up and walking away
said, “That may be some other Majnu who gives blood, I am the ‘milk drinking’
and not the blood giving Majnu”.

Lesson NO. 44 DATE or DATE
This incidence took place when I was working for a local Pharmaceutical
Company. I was Sales and Marketing Manager in that Company where the
environment was a bit conservative and gloomy. Too many checks and barriers
were laid down to worsen the condition. It is obvious that in a tense condition, no
one could expect anything lively to happen, but fortunately a very interesting
situation worth mentioning occurred that can be taken as a unique example of
misunderstanding.
In that Company we also had a Cosmetic Division. As per requirement of the
products mostly ladies were appointed for that division. As the cosmetic Products
were of a very high standards, the girls appointed had to be very mod and from
high society. Majority of them were working just for pleasure.
Probably this was the reason for the heavy turnover. Hardly anyone would stay
for three months or more. Very frequently new faces were seen. So much so that
on seeing a new face if someone enquired “NEW FACE?” I would reply, “No,
washed with beauty soap many times”.
Another reason for not staying long could have been the conservative
environment, not suitable for hi fi advanced girls, looking for thrill and
adventures. The staff members of the entire company did not prefer to mix up
with each other. They lived in isolation and would not exchange a word or two
with each other. Strange enough the males had restricted themselves and would
not talk to ladies except for business.
Before joining this local company I had worked for Multi Nationals which had
different style and system. Everyone used to meet each other freely. There were
no barriers and juniors and seniors would call each other by name. No need to call
Sir, Mr. or Sahib as suffix or prefix with the names. As trained in multinationals I
did not hesitate to meet persons of either sex.
One day I saw a lady product manager near the attendance machine, searching
something in her bag. Noticing her anxiety, I enquired if she had lost something
valuable. At once she responded, “No sir, I think I have forgotten my attendance
card at home”. “Don’t worry; you can have my Attendance Card”. I joked.
Enjoying my offer, she smiled and replied, “Thanks, but how my attendance will
115
be registered through your card”? “Oh yes! That may be the problem, otherwise
here is my card”. Saying this I handed over my Visiting Card to her. She took the
card and as she read my name she turned to me and smiled, “You are Mr. Kaify!
Sir, I have heard a lot about you and your wits”. “That’s wonderful but what’s
your good name?” She replied “Shahla , Sir”. “So you are Shahlasir. Don’t mind if I
say that it would have been more beautiful, had it been only SHAHLA and not
Shahla-sir”.
On hearing this she laughed so loudly that the staff sitting in the hall was
embarrassed. I hurriedly suggested to her “Please do not call me Sir, or Mr. I am
KAIFY and you are SHAHLA and not SHAHLA SIR”. With an exchange of smiles we
departed and went to our rooms. This was my first encounter with her which
turned into intimacy but we restricted ourselves up to “Hi, Kaify” and” Hi Shahla”
only. Even this “hi and hello” was too much for my colleagues.
Now this Shahla was a product manager in the Cosmetic Division. She was not
only too modern for this conservative Company but was a true representative of
the “Enlightened Islam”. She was not only beautiful but well-dressed too. She
used to put on the most advanced clothes. Despite being fashionable, she was
very economical in her dressing as she did not use DUPATTA (a sort of scarf used
by Muslim ladies). She also managed to save by wearing sleeveless shirts and
SHARAIE Trousers (The trousers which are not lengthy enough to cover the
ankles. In Islam only men are disallowed to hide the ankles. Ladies have to keep
their arms and legs hidden).
It was not long for a month or so that she disappeared. I assumed that she had
left for good. Her room remained locked for about ten days but one day I saw a
girl, fully dressed and well shrouded in a big DUPATTA, entering Shahla’s room. I
asked the peon if Shahla has been replaced by this young lady. Much to my
astonishment the answer was “No Sir, She is Ms. SHAHLA; she had been to Mecca
and Medina for UMRAH (pilgrimage to Mecca, for adoration to ALLAH. It is second
to Hajj and is performed on days other than for HAJJ. Muslims, after performing
HAJJ or UMRAH try not to commit sins or any misdoings). I was delighted to see
this change in an ultra-modern girl. After a while she met me in the corridor.
Coming face to face, she greeted me in Islamic tradition by touching her fore head
with her fingers and Saying “Salaam wa alekum”. At this my sense of humor arose
116
and I responded, “Walekum As salaam, May Allah bless you, give you long life to
live, May increase your height, give you a long tongue”. She started laughing, and
exclaimed “What a funny way to bless, Kaify. Blessing to have long tongue!! ha
ha.; You have the guts to make fun of anybody, May Allah give me enough
fortitude to deal with you”. Getting serious, I congratulated her for Umrah; she
thanked me and we moved away.
Next day she met me in the elevator. After exchanging greetings, I playfully
reminded her, “Two days have gone, it’s a pity you have not even given me a
Date”. Instead of answering, she looked at me in a strange way and bowed down
her head. The lift stopped and she headed to her room without saying a single
word. Following her I felt very upset and cursed myself for asking for a petty date,
which she should have given herself as it is traditional to give dates and Zamzam
(holy water from Mecca) to friends and relatives on coming back from Umrah or
Hajj. Before she entered her office I stopped her and complained “it’s strange.
You have not answered me”. She looked at me, then dropping her eyes, very shyly
uttered; “Now you are asking for a date? You never asked me before going to
Umrah” and ran into her room.

Lesson No.45 IMPORTANT CHARACTERS
(Rather “Notorious Characters”)
The so called Politician of Pakistan
They are the ones who make changes in the speeches of the founder of Pakistan.
They lie brazenly and with impunity. They feel pride in falsely projecting Mr.
Jinnah as Secular. Out of hundreds of his speeches, Mr. Jinnah never ever uttered
the word, “SECULAR or SECULARISM”, but these politicians have extracted
secularism from his speech delivered on 11th August 1947. He was addressing the
constituent assembly after the announcement of Pakistan. Though the Majority of
Pakistanis are Muslims but Minorities such as Hindus, Sikhs, Christians, Jews and
followers of other Religions are also included as citizens of Pakistan. Mr. Jinnah,
like Bharati leaders, did not want to expel these minorities; he rightly made it
clear in his policy speech that now Pakistan has emerged as a new country and all
residing in are Pakistanis having equal rights. For an example he quoted Hindus
would ceased to be Hindus and Muslims would ceased to be Muslim; all would
have right to go to their places of worship without fear (this is in accord to the
basic teaching of Islam).
These scoundrels, forgetting all the other speeches in which he clearly demanded
for a Muslim State, assumed that Mr. Jinnah wanted to have a secular state. Just
two days later, replying to Mountbatten’ suggestion to follow the policies and
constitution of Akbar the Mughal emperor, Mr. Jinnah clearly said “Do not worry
for our constitution, it has been already given by our Prophet (Peace Be Upon
Him) fourteen hundred years ago, and it is far better than Akbar’s constitution.”
This clearly indicates that Mr. Jinnah never wanted to have a secular state, but
these so called politicians are Puppets on the string in the hands of enemies of
Pakistan.
Pakistan came into being one day prior to Bharat; this made Pakistan elder to
Bharat but these impudent creatures find pride in touching the feet of Bharati
Leaders and calling Bharat the “elder brother”.
These Politicians for their own benefit do not hesitate to own an ass as their
father. They for their own interest welcome the Dictators. Their identity is that
neither they nor their forefathers had a role in Pakistan movement; their
118
forefathers supported Congress and did not opt for Pakistan, but when it came
into being they came over here and cleverly entered the Government to damage
the state to prove that the emergence of Pakistan was a blunder. For such people
the poet Mohsin Bhopali said,
“ Naiy rangiay siaasat-e- doraan to dekhiyay
Manzil unhain mily jo shareeke Safar na thaey”

‫نیرنگیء سیاست دوراں تو دیکھیے‬

‫منزل انہیں ملی جو شریک سفر نہ تھے‬

( “The supreme irony in politics is that, who did not travel with us, got the
destination.”)

The so called Religious cum Political leaders

These are more dangerous than the so called politicians; they not only spoil our
socio-economy, politics and culture but defame our religion too. They interpret
the orders of Allah and Sayings of Prophet (PBUH) in their own favor. For their
own interest they would shake hands with the non-believers, foes of Islam and
Pakistan; but would not hesitate to declare that their opponent Muslims is not
Muslims by Heart. They would excuse a person who does not offer prayers at all;
but would not spare Muslims who are not praying according to their sect. To gain
political mileage they can convene conferences but would not summon
compatriots to sit together to resolve differences among various sects.

The so called Experts of Law and Constitution

What to talk about their expertise? They are expert in creating complication
rather than simplifying the sections/clauses of law and constitution. The
constitutions are promulgated to run the business in accordance to settled rules
and regulations, but these experts manage to complicate and create confusion.
Constitutions are to be followed and not to follow. These experts find ways to
make amendments according to their wishes. A very good example can be taken
from Usurper Musharraf’s tenure. He abrogated the constitution by virtue of
which he should be hanged, but he made amendments and got the validity from

119
the courts.
As per constitution floor crossing in assemblies is not allowed, but when he
required some members he amended the constitution to allow floor crossing.
After getting the required numbers he undid the clause to stop floor crossings.
These amendments could be the reason not to promulgate Islamic Constitution.
Islamic constitution cannot be amended in any case. It is unchanged and will
remain unchanged till the end of Universe.

The Poor Pakistani Nation

The Nation is not ‘so called poor Nation’ in reality, but is fool enough to be
deceived by the so called characters.. It is foolish enough to be bitten again and
again from the same hole. Though the Nation, gets a chance to elect
representative Government; but the nation repeatedly chose the wrong and
culprits to rule over them.

Awal awal sang-e meeley rahey Azadi thaey hum,
Aakhir Akhir Hum nishan-e-bey nishan buntey gaey,
hum toa eik eik khaar ko apna lahu detay rahay.
bul hawis aatey gaey aur baghban buntey gaey . (Mohsin Bhopali)

(In the beginning we were the Mile Stones of Independence,

Alas we have lost all our identity, pride and it’s adherence,
We shed our blood to save and cultivate it
but the usurpers came in and took the governance.) (Kaify)
