Strengths Finders Essay

After completing the Strengths Finders 2.0 survey I discovered strengths that seem to fit
me quite as well. My first strength was ideation. According to Strengths Finders, these are people
exceptionally talented in the Ideation theme are fascinated by ideas. They are able to find
connections between seemingly disparate phenomena. During my internship, I had the
opportunity to help my mentor by providing him with different ideas on how he could organize
his investigations. We decided to create a chart that included all the suspects in the case with
their charges, at the end this tool was very helpful to identify the mistakes made by the detectives
when doing the investigation. In the future, this strength will be very helpful for me because as
an entrepreneur my ideas will help me find the perfect business that the consumers are looking
for.
Restorative is my second strength. According to Strengths Finders, these are people
exceptionally talented in the Restorative theme are adept at dealing with problems. They are
good at figuring out what is wrong and resolving it. This strength is one of the most important
for me because being able to think through and organize ideas to solve a problem is key strength
that leaders should have. This strength I use most of the time when it comes to decision making.
I usually think cause and effect prior to deciding what I’m going to do. For example, when it
came to make my college decision, I analyzed all the schools that accepted me, then looked into
which school offered the best education based on what I want to study, and which school gave
me the best scholarship offer. At the end I chose the University of Dayton because they offered
me a full ride, and they offered me the option to finish my undergrad and my Juris Doctor in 6
years.
My third strength is strategic. Strengths Finders defines this as people exceptionally
talented in the Strategic theme create alternative ways to proceed. Faced with any given scenario,
they can quickly spot the relevant patterns and issues. Sports have been a huge part of my life
where I have been able to develop this strength. As a captain and setter of my high school
volleyball team, I have to plan a strategy to confuse the other team’s defense so that my hitters
can successfully score points. I do this by watching films of my opponents and learning what
their strengths and weaknesses are, this way I know how we are going to position our block, who
are going to target, and how am I going to spread the offense.
Responsibility is my fourth strength. Based on the Strengths Finders definition, these are
people exceptionally talented in Responsibility theme take psychological ownership of what they
say they will do. They are committed to stable values such as honesty and loyalty. This strength
in my opinion is one of the most important because is more of a core value than a strength. Being
able to be a responsible person is one of the main traits that people should have in order to earn
respect from their employers or employees. During quarantine responsibility was one of the most
important things when it came to school. Teachers were assigning us lessons and worksheets, but
it was up to me to organize, self-study, and complete all the assignments.
Finally, my fifth strength is analytical. This are people exceptionally talented in the
Analytical theme search for reasons and causes. They have the ability to think about all of the
factors that might affect a situation. As an intern for a law firm, I saw how important this
strength was for attorneys to have; especially criminal law attorneys. I had the opportunity to sit
in meetings with my mentors with his clients and staff, here I saw how the conversation most of
the time was cause and effect and what if questions. For example, when he was working on
getting his client out of death row, the goal was to prove the judge that his client was a product
of his neighborhood. This shows how attorneys have to analyze a lot to understand every
situation to build a solid defense.
