Revised Academic Calendar and Exams Schedule for AY 2019-20 along with
Modified Rules and Regulations and Guidelines in view of the COVID-19
The following is the tentative Revised Academic Calendar and End Semester Examinations
Schedule and these may be subjected to changes based on instructions from MHRD and
Academic Senate of NIT Warangal.
 Faculty shall complete the remaining 3 weeks of class work as on 14th March by the end of May
2020 through online by adopting appropriate methods of delivery and submit the status to the
respective HoDs.
 END Semester examinations for Theory and Laboratory of the current semester will be
conducted in a phased manner starting from 29th June 2020 as per the schedule given below.
 The students shall prepare for writing exams according to the schedule given below.
 Students who have registered for the even semester will be eligible to write End Semester
Examinations, if they have put in minimum 60% attendance, till 14th March, 2020. If a student
doesn't have 60% attendance then he/she shall be awarded R.
 B.Tech. I year students seeking branch change can submit their applications on or before 8th
Aug. 2020. Branch changes will be made as per the existing norms.
B.Tech.:
The modalities of examinations for theory, laboratory, project work and seminar (IV B.Tech.), and
Engineering Graphics (I B.Tech.) are as follows:
a) End Semester – Theory Exams:
1) End semester examinations shall be conducted for 60 marks for a duration of 2 hours.
2) The Mid semester exams, Minors, Assignments, Quiz etc. conducted up to March 14 will have
to be evaluated for 40 marks.
3) The exams will be scheduled one per day with II year in the morning and IV year in the
afternoon during first phase and I Year in the morning and III year in the afternoon during
second phase.
4) Pass Grade: Students will have to secure a minimum of 35% in the final exam (i.e. 21) for pass,
subject to the condition that total minimum marks including Minor-1 and Mid. exam are 35 out
of 100.
5) IV B.Tech. students have to secure 30% in the final exam (i.e. 18) for pass subject to the
condition that total minimum marks including Minor and Mid exam are 30 out of 100.
b) End Semester – Laboratory Exams:
1) There will be no skill test for the End semester examinations.
2) Each Lab End Semester Exam will be conducted for a duration of one hour in the format of
Quiz and/or MCQ on the campus as per the schedule given below.
3) The continuous evaluation marks of the laboratory up to 14th March, and the marks of end sem.
exam conducted as above will be used for awarding the grade.
4) All the Laboratory exams for a class will be scheduled on a single day with one hour duration
each.
c) Project and Seminar:
1) Final year Project work shall be completed with whatever results / analysis available as of now.
2) The students shall prepare the project report as per the prescribed format and get it corrected
by their respective guides. The same is to be submitted to the Department in soft format through
their respective guides. The Certificate shall be signed electronically by the Supervisor and the
HoD.
3) Project Viva – Voce and Seminar shall be evaluated by online mode on or before June 25th by
a committee of faculty constituted for the purpose by the HoD and the grades will be awarded
as per existing norms.
d) Engineering Graphics:
1) The End semester examination will be for TWO hours duration only. It will be conducted for
one section per day in the afternoon session in addition to their theory exams in the morning
session as only ONE drawing hall available in the Institute.
2) There shall be no End Semester Examination in the Auto-CAD syllabus.
3) The end exam shall be conducted for 50 marks.
4) The continuous evaluation of Sheets, Mid Exam and AutoCAD classwork up to 14th March and
the marks scored in the above exam will be used for awarding the grade.
5) Pass Grade: Students have to secure 35% in the final exam (i.e. 18) for pass subject to the
condition that total minimum marks is 35 out of 100.
M.Tech., MCA, MSc, MSc.(Tech) and PhD:
a) End Semester – Theory Exams:
1) End exams will be conducted for 60 marks with a duration of 2 hours.
2) The exams will be scheduled one per day.
3) Pass Grade: Students shall secure a minimum of 40% in the end semester exam (i.e. 24) for
pass, subject to the condition that total minimum marks including Minor-1 and Mid. exam are
40 out of 100.
b) End Semester – Laboratory Exams:
1) Lab End Semester Exam will be conducted on campus as per the schedule given.
2) The Department shall conduct all the Laboratory exams of a class / specialization for all the on
a single day as per the Exam schedule given below.
3) Students are advised to be in contact with the respective faculty for further details.
c) Dissertation work and Comprehensive exam:
1) Students are advised to be in contact with their supervisor and carry out the dissertation during
this period.
2) The final report shall be submitted on or before 18th July.
3) The HoD has to constitute a committee including an external member from an allied
Department of our Institute, nominated by the Director, to evaluate the dissertation works. In
case of MSc Maths, the internal committee will only evaluate as per existing guidelines.
4) A committee is to be constituted by the HoD to conduct Comprehensive exam.
5) Dissertation Viva-Voce / Comprehensive exam may be completed either on line through video
conference or on campus depending on the readiness of the student.
6) M.Tech students who have completed the dissertation Viva-Voce are not eligible for stipend
from the date of the examination.
7) The evaluation of dissertation work and comprehensive exams shall be completed on or before
25th July.
MBA:
1) For MBA - I year students quarter-end exams will be for 80 marks with 3 hour duration.
2) The students shall secure 40% of Quarter-end exam, (i.e. 32) for securing pass grade subject to
the condition that total minimum marks is 40 out of 100.
3) Students can do internship (may be virtual) or do mini projects (performing industry analysis
/working with secondary data) in an Industry / NITW under the guidance of a faculty member.
Make-Up Examinations:
1) There will be “No summer quarter” during this academic year 2019-20. Hence, all the students,
who are otherwise eligible for Summer Quarter, are permitted to write the Make-up
examinations as a one-time measure. Award of Grades will be done as per Institute rules.
2) Re-end Semester examinations for eligible students (for both odd and even semester subjects)
will be conducted along with make-up examinations only.
