TASK PERFORMANCE: CURRENT SITUATION AND ANALYSIS

Instructions:
1. In line with the previous task performance, your task now is to create a feasibility study using the term
paper from your preliminary task performance as your basis. For this section, you must create the
following:
• Tourism Development Plan – Describe your tourism idea in detail. Include the following:
o How does your tourism idea blend in with the town?
o What would attract a tourist to this town?
o What does this town have or do not have that you can use to attract tourists?
Note: Come up with something new/innovative. Be careful not to be too aggressive like
building malls, hotels, and/or restaurants to support your idea because this would not be
possible in five (5) years.
• Infrastructure/Superstructure – Describe the additional infrastructure and/or superstructure
that would be needed to accommodate tourists. Consider the following:
o Are more hotels and restaurants needed?
o How about shopping centers?
o Are utilities available to support this venture?
• Stakeholders – Create a plan on how to convince the townspeople that your idea is a benefit
to them so you can be able to implement your idea. Answer the following:
o How would you sell your idea to the townspeople?
o How disruptive would your plan be to their everyday activities? (Traffic, congestion, crime,
trash, etc.)
• Financing The Project – Provide answers to the following:
o How do you propose to fund this project?
o Where will the money come from?
o If you are planning to build a hotel, restaurant, etc., where will the money come from to
build these facilities?
o If you are trying to attract a chain, how will you convince them to invest money in your
chosen town?
o Are you going to raise taxes in the town to support your tourism idea?
Note: Donations cannot be a prime source of funding.
• Transportation – Describe how tourists will arrive at this destination. Consider the following:
o Are current transportation systems adequate to accommodate tourists or will you need
to develop them further?
o If they need to be developed further, where will the money come from to develop what
is needed?
• Current Situation Analysis – use 05 Handout 2 for this.
2. You must create a PowerPoint presentation of your output to be presented in front of the class for a
maximum of 10 minutes.
3. You must create a written output that includes the following:
• First section of the feasibility study (finalized, checked, and graded)
• Tourism Enhancement Plan
• Infrastructure/Superstructure
• Stakeholders
• Financing The Project
• Transportation
4. Each member is expected to work collaboratively within their group to achieve a desired output and
obtain the highest possible grade. You will be graded based on the rubrics on the next page:
