Human Resources Management sighting Greek Gods as example.

To the Greeks, religion was more a matter of custom than an accurate theology. Their
gods stood sure things and, to a degree, you chose your god because you shared the
values and interests which they represented. You were a Zeus person or an Apollo
person, the god of order and reason, an addict of Athena, the warrior goddess, or of
Dionysus, to me the foremost individualist of the gods and Ares the god of conflict
and war.

I’ve got used these five gods to symbolise the various ways of managing which is
able to be discerned in organisations, or, to position it in an exceedingly very different
way, the differing cultures that exist in organisations. The management of
organisations isn't a specific science but more of a certain and political process, owing
much to the prevailing culture and tradition therein placed at that point. Organisations,
like tribes and families, have their own ways of doing things, things that job for them
and things that do not work. you've to read them right to be effective.

Zeus

Zeus is the king and father of the gods and rules the weather likewise as law, order
and justice. In mythology, the foremost powerful and robust god. The organizational
culture regarding Zeus includes a robust, dynamic leader with an entrepreneurial
spirit. All lines of communication come from him. This leader makes all the
alternatives and often makes them quickly, which can be a strength in an exceedingly
very fast-moving business environment. However, beware a possible weakness as
success of such ‘one-man-bands’ relies on the caliber of the leader. this can be often
also observed as ‘club culture’.

Apollo

‘Role culture’, by comparison, is represented by Apollo. Apollo is also a more

aesthetic and embraces order and rules, likewise as arts, knowledge and healing.
during this sort of organization, it's assumed that individuals are rational and roles are
clear-cut and discharged with clearly defined procedures. Staff are defined by what
kind of job they do rather than their personality. This creates an environment of
stability and certainty, and a strength is its continuity. However, once again, there is a
weakness – the facility to adapt quickly or generate change.

Athena

Athena represents a ‘task culture’. as she is the Goddess of intelligence and wisdom,
in this sort of organization, management is anxious with solving a series of problems.
In this case it draws on all its resources from all its departments to meet current needs.
It often creates working parties, sub-committees, task forces and study groups on a
billboard hoc basis and includes a selected advantage when flexibility is required. The
organization recognizes and maximizes the benefits of experience held by its staff.

Dionysus

Dionysus, is mostly referred to as the god of wine, parties and festivals. Those
organizations that adopt him is what's observed as an ‘existential culture, these
organization exists to serve the individual rather than the alternative way around.
These are often groups of pros (lawyers, consultants etc.) working together often with
no clearly identified leader. It requires a high level of coordination to function, and
sometimes a tiny low core of staff contract out work to professionals and specialists,
using them only as and when their special skills are required. this kind of organization
has become increasingly common, but it should be recognized that there's also little
allegiance to the organization or project leader.

Ares

Ares is that the god of conflict and war… I mean, the uncontrollable and violent
aspect of war, the thirst for destruction and slaughter run in his veins and he's the
insatiable embodiment of it. Ares as a colleague is that the high-tempered and
impatient one. He has intolerance when it involves mistakes. And he's always able to
pick a fight and win in any respect costs, even when there's nothing valid or necessary
to win.
