Top 3 Qualities of a Great Business Person

Business spans across different spheres and industries starting with marketing,
management, finance and extending to medicine, pharmacy and engineering. This
means that anyone in any of those fields, who closes deals, manages or runs a
department should have some extensive knowledge and skills on how to do that.
If we watch such a person closely from the side we can point out the main
qualities which make the individual a business person. So, let’s move on and see
for ourselves what those features are.

First off, it’s adaptability. Dealing with different people in often unknown
environments requires some ability to adapt. However, usually businessmen
know how to behave as they have some models of behavior and can predict
based on the research how a dialogue would go. Nevertheless, the ability of being
at ease and comfortable at any given situation or when the things simply start to
go south is one of the most important qualities a business person can possess. If
one knows how to adapt and make things work for them, that’s a nice way to
avoid a lot of stress.

Second, it’s flexibility. This means being able and willing to change your ideas or
plans even on a very short notice. And here’s a short story from my experiences. I
volunteered with a team of American youth at a summer camp. And their motto
was “be flexible”. And it really worked. They were first to help set up the stage
and decorations even though we knew they were jet-legged. They were never
seen whining, complaining or being indifferent, but always willingly and stoked
participating in any camp activity. That’s what is common for their culture. That’s
what they’ve been taught at schools, colleges and sports teams. It seemed
amazingly easy for them to apply that principle to be flexible. Seeing them live off
that so-called rule I realized I want to be able to do that too.

Internationalism. That’s the third one. And last, but not least. This means having a
commitment to learning about and exploring other cultures. If a business is set up
on an international basis which is really relevant nowadays, it requires a business
person to be open-minded, ready to merge into a new culture, explore and learn.
Such a person should be free of prejudice and stereotypes. This will allow one to
understand others, their motives with an open heart. And that’s the most
precious thing one cannot buy, true profound understanding.
So, starting with these three personal features and adding many more others on
the way, one can truly become a great business person. And as I mentioned
before, it can be applied to any sphere, industry and activity you can imagine. It’s
only about self-awareness and a desire to be a lifelong learner. And then, the
sky’s the limit.
