Topic: Past Form of the Verbs

Objectives: At the end of the lesson, the students are able to:
a. define past form of the verb through arranging the jumbled letters;
b. write sentences with simple past correctly;
c. give importance to past form of the verb through using it in a personal/real life
conversation.

Materials: Printed materials and strips

Motivational Activity:

The teacher will use strips containing Present Form of the Verb. Upon flashing the
words, they will utter past form of the verb.

Lesson proper:

A. Lesson Proper
1. Activity
The class will be divided into 4 groups, afterwards, they are going
to arrange the jumbled words containing the definition of Past
Form of the Verbs.

“Answer”
Past tense verbs refer to actions or events in
the past. They can be regular verbs that
simply end with a “d” or “ed” or they can be
irregular and change their spelling to show
the past tense.

The first group who can finish arranging the jumbled words will
receive a higher grade.
The teacher will post the visual aids about the sentences containing
past form of the verbs, regular and irregular. The class will rewrite
the present tense of the into past form.

2. Andy and Joy are kill during earthquake.
3. Mr. Cruz ask where my mother was.
4. Steven Spielberg directs “Schindler’s List”
5. Madelaine is hungry because she did not eat breakfast.

9. Cara sees the man we hope to be meet.
10. The book finds in the attic proves to be the relic they had
been looking for.

1. Why is it that some of the verbs end with “d” or “ed”?
2. How can we know if these are irregular verbs?
3. What form of verb is used?
4. When did actions happen?
5. In real life situation or in your conversation with a friend, if you are
talking about past, are you using past form of verbs?
