The word y#ø© in this Kural means Moksha svarupam - which
is the purest. It refers to the benefit of spiritual knowledge, that is freedom
from the bondage of samsaara.
How to understand, whether we are in the state of mukti or not?
Only if we are naturally free from, any form of desire, we are said
to be in Mukti.
Absence of desires - for wealth, position, fame or anything. If we
really feel that we don’t have desire for anything, we can infer that, we
are in a state of mukti.
We have to understand this carefully.
Tiruvalluvar gives a clue in the chapter öu›¢x ÂøÚ¯õhÀ - On
Assessment and Selection, for selecting a person for a particular job.

A person with love, clarity in knowledge and action and absence
of desires, can be selected.
In that context - absence of desires - means, genuine, miniumum
desires.
But here, in this context - we are talking about - complete removal
of desires.

That, Mukti is said to be the state of, freedom from desires.
The word ©ØÖ is a word, used for metrical adjustment, in poetry.
Ax Áõ#ø© @Ásh Á¸®.
That freedom from desires can be attained by gaining knowledge
about the absolute reality. The word Áõ#ø© refers to knowledge of
absoulte reality.
We have to recall the previous chapter, which talked about this
spiritual knowledge.
Generally, the word Áõ#ø© means, non utterence of lies or
avoiding false statements.
Áõ#ø© @Ásh Á¸® means, by meditating on the Supreme
Principle - The Absolute reality, one can understand the state of Mukti.
What is the nature of the pure state of Mukti?
Freedom from desires is the nature of the pure state of Mukti.
It is absence of likes and dislikes, absence of desires. That freedom
from desires is not fluctuating. It is permanently present all the time.
Some people do not have desire for an object at a particular time.
But later, they will have desire for that object.
The freedom from desires, should be steady.
Thus, to understand the state of Mukti, one has to gain knowledge
about the absolute reality and meditate upon it.
We can understand the meaning of this Kural, from a simple angle
also.
What is the indicator for mental purity?
How to understand that I am pure, deep in my heart?
Our mind will not have desires for anything. We may have noble
intentions, to serve the society. But we will work, peacefully.
We will not be agitated or tensed. We will work for social well
being - with intelligence and peace.
At the same time, We will not have desire for wealth, position,
recognition or fame. We will not have any personal hidden agenda.
Thus, the mind that is free from desires, is a pure mind. That
purity of mind can be attained by avoiding lies and false statements.
