) “The Trinity is the term employed to signify the central doctrine of the Christian religion- the
truth that in the unity of Godhead there are three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy
Spirit, these three persons being truly distinct from one another.”
Concepts/distinction of the mystery of the blessed trinity:
a. The Father- is God, the First Person of the Blessed Trinity, the creator of all things, the
one who generates
b. The Son- is God, the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity, begotten of the Father by an
eternal generation, the one being generated
c. The Holy Spirit- is God, the Third Person of the Blessed Trinity, proceeds by an eternal
procession from the Father and the Son, the one who proceeds.
*The Trinity is One. We do not profess the existence of three Gods, but one God in three
persons: the Consubstantial Trinity. The divine persons do not divide the one Godhead among
themselves; each one of them is entirely God.
*The Trinitarian mystery is a manifestation of the most intimate aspect of God’s being. It is
the greatest of all revealed mysteries and, consequently, the most important truth of the Christian
faith.
*Yet, notwithstanding this difference as to origin, the 3 Persons are co-eternal and co-equal:
all alike are uncreated and omnipotent.
2.) In carrying out the Holy Trinity’s mission of love, what kind of life does our Lord want us to
live?
Our Lord wants us to live a good life and the good life that he is referring to is through
having God’s blessing upon us, particularly in the area of healthy relationships. In fact, God’s
blessing is inseparable from having healthy relationships. One way is through loving our
neighbors. The good life is tied up with good relationships. Even if you are not abundant of
things, if you’re at peace with others, life would be sweet and good-flowing. The good life is
following God’s principles for healthy relationships which result from doing good in our walk
and talk. Doing good in our walk that means turning from evil and pursuing peace. Thus being
harmonious, sympathetic, brotherly, and kindhearted and having humble in Spirit. And doing
good in our talk which means refraining from deception, blessing others with words that build
up, and not retaliating when we are verbally abused.
Additionally, the Lord wants us to live a life focused on His goodness and love, and a life
geared towards Christ-likeness. As God’s children, we ought to live a life pleasing to him. This
we do in faith, as we follow the Lord Jesus Christ. As we obey Him, we’re assured of success in
God’s will. The life that God wants us is a life lived in the power of the Holy Spirit, not the flesh.
As such, we’ve got to have fellowship with the Holy Spirit of God. The great thing is that the
Holy Spirit which is the third person of God lives in all who believe in Christ who is the second
person of the Holy Trinity, and has submitted to His Lordship.
