EXECUTIVE SUMMARY OF WORKS TO BE CARRIED OUT

GENERAL OUTLINE OF SCOPE OF WORKS.

This project consist of 3 main component of works namely:

Installation of FRANKLIN LIGHTNING ROD on top of tower. Firsltly, The workers ( 2

worker) will climb the gantry column and station at the top of mast. During climbing the
workers will bring along a rope and pully and mount at the structure. This rope is used to lift
all materials up to the top of mast.Next a special mounting bracket will lifted and nounted
to the existing plate on the mast. Upon completion, the rod will be lifted and fix into the slot
and secure firmly.Then the copper tape is lifted and attached to the rod and secure firmly.All
bolt and nut must again cheked and retighten if necessary.When the whole work competed, the
rope and pully will be dismantle and brought down.

The workers then slowly descend and at the same time secure the copper tape to the structure
using special mounting bracket. Again the whole fixing works will be checked before
completion.

On completion of the above, generally the works on height already completed.

Installation of step ladder

Certain mast do not have ladder. So before any installation could be done, the first exercise is
to install the ladder on to the mast colum.

The step ladder were from the existing neighbourhood mast. The exercise had been done
during the first stage carried out earlier.

The laldder is installed section by setion starting from the lower section. Upon completeion of
the first section, the workers will use climb the laddler and using rope, lift the second ladder
and fix and secure firmly. The works will be repeated until completion.
CPMPONENT NO 2

The whole works are to be carried out on ground.

Installation of chamber and rods.

Using cankul,shovel etc, the chipping stones are to be shovel out and copper rod is driven on
to the ground. Coupler is used to joint the rods. On completion, copper tape is conneted to the
rod and laid on ground and up to approximately 2 m along the mast column. Earth chamber is
then installed. The copper tape laid is then coverd back with the chipping stone.

Next, a PVC pipe is inserted to the tape and tie to the column. A mass concrete is then poured
in side the pipe including the base so that the whole tape at the lower part is concreted.

COMPONENT NO 3.

The tape from top of mast and from the earth chamber is joint using special joint.

A lightning counter shall also be fixed slightly above the above joint. The location of
counters to be installed is selected by TNB and shown in the plan.

Finally the testing will be carried out.

Firstly open the connection then earth resistivity meter is used to measure the resistiviy of
the earth. All reading will be properly recorded.
GENERAL OUTLINE OF SCOPE OF WORKS.

This project consists of 3 main components of works namely:

1) TOWER WORKS
The installation of mounting bracket, Franklin rod and copper tape from the rod to
ground.
Firstly the workers will go via ladder up, bring along the rope and pulley and fix on
the structure for lifting purpose. Next the bracket will be lift up and mount on the
existing plate and followed by fixing the lightning rod. On completion, the tape is
lifted and fix to the rod and finally the entire length of tape downward is secured
firmly to the structure using special bracket.

For this exercise, no ladder is mounted on the structure thus an installation of ladder
must be carried out first. The ladders are taken from the existing ones carried out
during the first stage.

The ladder is fixed section by section and as the workers goes up he bring along the
rope and pulley for lifting the upper ladder and future use.

2) GROUND WORKS
The second component basically the installation of earthing rod, earth chamber and
tape and connection to the incoming tape from the rod on top of mast. The tape will
be buried by stone chipping and a PVC pipe is inserted to the exposed tape
approximately 6 feet above the ground and filled with mass concrete.

3) FINISHING AND TESTING WORKS

The last component is the finishing works and testing. The tape coming from the top
and from the earth chamber is connected at the position approximately 2 meters
above the ground by way of tape connector. Some location will be installed with
lightning counter and the location is normally shown in the plan. Finally, the
resistivity test will be carried out to all of tower.
