Instructional Assignment-Effective Instruction Model

Subject: 6th grade mathematics.

Topic: Understanding positive and negative to describe quantities and understanding that absolute
values of positive and negative number are.

Objective to observe: Teacher must walk around, and spot check students work to check and see if they
understand what is going on. Student can ask for help and get further instruction on what to do. After
8:57, students will turn in assignment for the day to be review that night by the teacher.

Lesson:

8:07-8:17: Student will go over 5 question on the board and be asked to identify formula need to solve
the questions. Question will become more complex as they go down the list. Students are allowed to
examine the days before notes to help them answer the questions. Question will be

1(.-7)+5=?

2.(-7)-5=?

3.5+(-9)-8=?

4.(-15)+12-13+1=?

5.(-29)-(-17)=?

8:17-8:37: Teacher will give notes for students to copy with example and present new ways of
understanding to the students. Example questions will be presented to new equations for students to
study and apply to future assignments. Students will need to summarize the notes in order to make
them simpler and illustrate what they have taken away from the notes. Students will be asked to
paraphrase what they have learned during this time.

8:37-8:57: Students will need to apply what they learned from the power point and solve 10 questions
from next assignment. Students will need to show that they are able to recall what they just wrote down
and make and determine the answer for the new question. Students then will next need to calculate
answer and explain how they got that answer.

8:57-9:06: Students must connect what they have learned and apply it do what they need to homework
that has been assigned. Students will need to copy homework from board and finish what they could
not do earlier. Students must report what they learn from today’s notes and assignment for homework
as well.
9:07: pack up

Resources: Materials need for today’s calls is as followed

Students: Math notebook, pencil, simple calculator, highlighter, strap paper.

Teacher: Math textbook, Computer, projector, red pen, white board, white board markers.

Reflection: This model has the requirement need for a student to learn a new objective daily. The
material list is small and thus is able to be applied to schools from any demographic school zone. It is set
up easily, so a sub is able to follow them and prevent any confusion from the teacher to the student.
Overall, this is a good lesson plan that can be applied to multiple lesson with some reworked here and
there.
