Once our Father, after talking with a Cardinal about some problems in the Church, went into the Oratory.
He remained there for a long time. When he came out he said very happily: my talk with the Cardinal
damaged me a lot; it made me lose my joy. (4-M-CHEE.DOC)

158- EUCHARIST
In 1968 our Father, seeing how Our Lord was badly treated in the Eucharist told us to pray or to sing the

Lord in the Eucharist was the pain of our Father. (7-R2-EUC.DOC)

while He is the light. (7-R2-EUC.DOC)
178- PURGATORY
"We ought to pray the prayer of those forty martyrs ourselves. I have a great devotion to them. I had even
thought of celebrating their feast day in the Work, but we do not have the vocation of martyr... My devotion
to those martyrs refer to their common perseverance, to their fraternal love and to their affection in praying
for one another." (Meditation VI-478) (XI-2.DOC)
179- PURGATORY
In St Louis a brother of ours asked to the Father: `What is your best joy?' "When I receive a news that a
child of mine has died being faithful." (Cat. in America 1988, p. 417) (XI-2.DOC)
180- PURGATORY
When our Father was a young priest, in the thirties, the souls of Purgatory used to pull his soutane asking
for help. They knew how holy our Father was, and his power in front of God. (XI-2.DOC)
181- MORTIFICATION
Our Father bought in Argentina a riding whip for himself, because the discipline wasn't strong enough. He
said: this is to ride the donkey. (8-R1-TEM.DOC)

A brother of ours went to our Father and told him: "Father, Isidoro hasn't got lining in his overcoat." Our
Father answered him: "I know it and God knows it also." (8-R1-TEM.DOC)

there were some biscuits and I have eaten some." (Cat. in America I-74, p. 165) (8-R1-TEM.DOC)

Our Father used to sit on the edge of his chair. The Father reading our Father's notes discovered that he
didn't like to write standing up; he did so as a mortification. (8-R1-TEM.DOC)
185- ANGEL
A military man told our Father: Father I imagine my Guardian Angel as a general; what about you? "A
friend, a companion. A guide." (Cn. 74, p. 507) (X-2-GUAR.DOC)
186- ANGEL
In the hall of Villa Tevere, there is a statue of an Angel with the shield of The Work in his hands. The Father
says hello to this angel, and he was telling us that he doesn't know if the angel of the Work is the same as
the Angel of the house, but he prays twice. (Cfr. Cn. X-79, p. 78) (X-2-GUAR.DOC)
187- ANGEL
From the Father: in the early years, our Father "did not have any money, because he had spent what he
had on apostolate. He could not even have his watch repaired, for example, though he needed it to be on
time at different places in Madrid where he carried out his work for souls. Then he would address his
guardian angel and ask him to fix his watch. And, `without miracles', the watch would start, the Father
says. For this reason the Father began to call his guardian angel `the watchmaker." (Meditations VI-469)
(X-2-GUAR.DOC)
188- ANGEL
When our Father saw the new crib in the lounge room of the house of Vicolo, he was very sad because
there were few Angels. They bought many Angels, and put them there, even though they didn't have the
same style. (X-2-GUAR.DOC)
