GI-OSSARY OF TECHNICAL TERMS
CONTROL SYSTEM
The control system, consisting of the Control Console and
Power Center/Cross-Connect Patch Panel has been espe-
cially designed to meet the needs of a small news or interview
studio. By combining the dimmers and patch panel into a
specially designed compact wall mounted Power Center,
Strand Century has solved a basic problem of space often
encountered ln installing control systems in srnall studios.
DISTRIBUTION EQUIPMENT
The distributlon system of this
package consists of connector
strips and plug-in boxes which
have been located to provide
the flexibility in positioning and
circuiting lights required to en-
sure the highest quality lighting
desig n and control.
KEY AND BACK LIGHTS
Key and Back Lights provide the
main source of llumlnation on
the sublect from the front, side
and rear. The most lmportant
lighting fixtures in the studio,
th ey must provide maximum
varety in beam shape and size
and be easily adjusted to meet
different lighting
requ irements.
Because the characteristics of
Fresnel spotlights provide th s variety, Key and Back Lights
are always Fresnels. We have scheduled six Quartzcolor 6"
Fresnels manufactured by laniro for thls studlo. These units
have been especially des gned for studio use and are the
rr]ost effic ent and flexible Fresnel spotlights on the market.
As with all lights scheduled in the package, each Fresnel is
fully equipped w th accessor es and a lamp.
CYCLORAMA LIGHTS
Cyclorama Lights are designed
to create a smooth lighting eftect
on a backdrop or cyclorama.
When individually circuited with
m u ltiple units, provided with
color media and controlled by
dimmers, Cyclorama Lights can
provide many possible tints and
shades through effective color
mixinq thus qiving subtle varia-
tions in the overall lighting design of any set. We propose
four Quartzcolor Mini Cyc Lights especially designed by
laniro for low grid applications. These compact, efficient
units provide a wide even beam for the illumination otthe set
or cyclorama f rom top to bottom.
This package is not intended to represent an absolute
maximum or minimum amount of equipment required. lt is a
proposal based on our experience for a typical 15' x 20'
studio. Naturally, each individual studio has its own unique
features which may require unique responses. Strand
Century has developed a series of these packages so you
can find one which most closely fits your needs. To receive
other packages in the series, or for help in customizing any
