Interview Project 3

Adolescence (12-17)

Name: Gabriella Ardila

Age: 15

Gender: Female

Relationship: Cousin

1. Gaby, describe a typical day.

Well I wake up around 4:30 am, I get ready to go to school, I come back home around 4-5

depending on the day, sometimes I play volleyball in the afternoons. I come back home, do

homework or watch something on Netflix depending on how crowded with work I am. And

usually go to bed around 10:30- 11:00pm.

2. Okay. So what activities do you like to do most?

I really love volleyball, I am the captain of the school team I also love spending time with my

friends and hanging out with our family.

3. Okay, awesome and what activities do you enjoy least?

I do not like homework and waking up early (laughs), but I don’t want to nag about school, it’s

just not that fun.

4. Describe your best friend? What qualities does he or she have?

My best friend’s name is Isaac, he is very sweet and gentle. He is doing a year abroad in United

States (We live in Colombia) to improve his English. He has had my back since forever, our

parents are really close and we have been friends ever since we were little. At the beginning we

hated each other, now we are the closest.

And, do you think you could have something more than a friendship?

NO. He is just my closest friend.

5. What is your greatest accomplishment thus far in life?

Well, I have not done much, I would say being captain of the Volleyball team. It was a lot of

effort, physical and emotional. I never thought I would make it.

6. What is your greatest regret thus far in life?

I don’t have regrets, just maybe not being there for our grandparents in their last days. I feel like

I needed those final moments with them and I didn’t appreciate having them when we did.

7. What are you looking forward to in the near future? Like within the next year?

I want our team to reach nationals. I am obsessed with volleyball as you can tell.

That makes you an awesome leader, you want them to excel.

8. What are you looking forward to in the far future? Like 5 or 10 or 20 years down the road?

I tend to not think that far ahead because I do not have a clue of what I want to do with my

life.

Do you have anything you want in less than 5 years?

I guess just graduating, finally getting out of school.

Nothing else?

**Shrugs her shoulders.

Analysis

Subject Introduction

Gaby as an amazing young woman, she is almost sixteen and she has the sweetest aura. She

normally isn’t this simple, but she was a little busy when I decided to do the interview.

She lives with her mom, dad and little brother.

Gaby is really intelligent, she strives to get good grades in her school and as she mentioned is

the captain of the volleyball team. She has been blessed with wealthy parents who have tried

to give her the best throughout her life. She studies in a high SES school and has never had

economic or health complications, she states living a life that many would be blessed to have.

Physical Development

Gabriella is an average-looking young lady, but her sweetness and personality make her

beauty stand out. She is 5’3 tall, and weighs 114 pounds, she is very tall for her age, she is the

youngest female cousin in the family and is the tallest out of all the girls. She has a slim figure

and is in good shape due to her sporting activities.

She experienced a growth spurt between ages 13 to 15, before epiphyses in her hands were

shown to have closed. She has very long legs and slim torso, she is presenting sex

characteristics such as widened hips and a more voluptuous body, evidence of the large

amounts of the hormones present in her body.

Cognitive Development

Gaby appears to be in Piaget’s formal operational stage of development. She has mastered

hypothetico-deductive reasoning in problem solving, and propositional thought in reasoning.

It does not come easy to her but she tries to be a good student and is often complimented by

her peers because of her intelligence.

Emotional/Social Development

Gaby is not close to the identity status of identity achievement, due to her answer of not

knowing what she wants or plans in the future can help us see this clearly. Nevertheless, she is

a highly social person. She enjoys going out with friends and having deep talks about what

they like and do not like. She connects with her parents and brother and have a good family

life. She is very shy, but once she achieves a level of trust with another person she is very

open.
