My objective for this lesson were, to recognize the new vocabulary, read and identify specific
information in simple texts. This was the first online lesson I taught. I introduced the topic of
the lesson by asking the students to imagine and think about a place that they would like to visit
in one minute. Then, I explained the new vocabulary by showing them pictures and providing
definitions. Because the online session does not take more than 30 minutes, I was not able to
implement all of my activities. Nevertheless, I believe that I achieved my learning objectives.
By the end of the lesson, students were able to perform the last formative assessment correctly.
They were able to match the new vocabulary with their definitions.
Additionally, the text that I provided for them to read it silently to achieve my second objective
was good. Students were able to read it, comprehend it and answer my questions that were
relevant to the text correctly. However, my strengths were that I encouraged students to
participate with me by asking them various questions. Questioning is an effective tool that
teachers can use to assess students' understanding and engage them during the lessons (Moss,
2019). Moreover, my assessments were suitable to their level and they were relevant to my
leaning objectives.
Unfortunately, I did not ask the students to construct sentences using the new vocabulary to
ensure they understood the use of them. Furthermore, I did not mention my learning objectives
during the session. Therefore, in my future online lessons, I will mention my learning objectives
to give the students an idea about what they are going to learn. Also, after explaining the new
vocabulary, I will ask the students to use them in sentences to make sure the understood them
clearly.
